REED ME TEXT:
12/16/2023 - Release of Version 1.0:
*************************************
This file release will be of knives built on the Red Beard Ops youtube channel in and before 2020 (and a few of them from 2021...).
Note many of these designs took strong inspiration from others in the knife making community. Most notably the Simple Little Life build along kitchen knife (2019) and the Cleaver Neck Knife (2020) (which was inspired by Walter Sorrells Feather neck knife).
@WalterSorrellsBlades @Simplelittlelife
*************************************
For all intents and purposes, I consider these files public domain. Share them at will! The only request I have are to a.) not sell the files themselves and b.) let people know you got them from RBO when sharing. :) Also if you're using these for your first knives, I'd love to be tagged on the socials so I can see your work!

Paying it forward will touch more lives than we will ever know. Well done.
Love it!! Thank you for helping us newbies out!
Happy to help!
Thank you,for the generosity. I have been wanting to make a knife since I first read and admired Al Mar and Crawford and Loveless as a kid. Now I’ve enrolled in a basic knife making course 🤝
Heck yeah! Good luck with your builds!
Thank you for sharing your designs. I Just got into making a few knives for family members, these will be very nice to look at for ideas for future knives.
Good luck! Cheers!
Very Generous!!! Thank you!! Happy Holidays!!
Same to you!
As a beginner knife maker I will definitely use, a hug from Brazil.
Awesome! Glad to hear it! Cheers from Texas!
Great work James. These will help innumerable knife makers improve in the trade for years to come - all I have to do now is convert the measurements to metric!
Thanks! And LOL; you have some work to do!
Thank you for sharing. Great Christmas concept!!

This is fantastic! Thank you very much for releasing these templates. I constantly refer back to your videos when I’m stuck or need inspiration despite making knives for almost 3 years now.
Glad you like them! Cheers
Thanks for doing this
My pleasure!
I love this man
Cheers!
Thank you so much. I'm not sure when I'll get the chance to use these, but that isn't the point. ;-) Thank you for you being you and your sharing! Karma is a power
Good luck with your future builds Jeff!
Much appreciated bro. I been looking for some templates to play with. Of course I wanna learn to design my own but we can certainly call this a training course.
Glad I could help!
Thank you SO MUCH! I am clueless about design and drawing... I´m a beginner and it is very hard for me to draw something that is appeasing to the eye. To have the videos AND the designs will really help to me takes steps to the right direction! You are my Saint in the knifemaking, sir!
Hope you can put them to use! Cheers!
I have just tried replying to you twice and it takes me forever to type a message and was almost finished twice and got dumped from your post so here goes the third. I am 65yrs old and have been studying knife making for more than 2 years. My father was a tool and die maker and grew up building cars homes and anything interesting. My best friends family owns a chain of junkyards so I have a surplus of materials to start with. I choose a leaf spring and started to look for knife patterns to choose a style. To my surprise I couldn't find anyone that carried any. I decided to make a Bowie knife and drew a pattern myself. I have since cut it out but due to a landlord dispute I just moved to Florida to a place for myself. I just saw your post and think it's a great idea. I have not started grinding my knife but will when my place is set up. Glad I saw your post a will be joining you as soon as I figure out how. Lol. I will post some pictures as I go. Thanks a bunch 🙏
Daniel Nazario.
It's awesome you're making some knives! Good luck with your builds; cheers sir.
Thank you
My pleasure!
That is really super nice of you James. I’ve tried the design programs myself, but as an older maker, I just can’t seem to grasp how to use them. Especially fusion 360. Thank you
Cheers sir! There is a heck of a learning curve on Fusion 360!
I’m a new makers Mr. Keeton and greatly appreciate this. Thank you! Is there a website where I can view your works?
I have some past work pictures here - redbeardops.square.site/knifegallery
not currently taking any custom orders though. Cheers sir
James thank you for sharing your templates i appreciate it Mark i just picked up a bridgeport mill and a Grazzioli lathe with a ton of tooling rotary table and other goodies $1000 now my little shop is packed LOL merry xmas ive never used a lathe any chance you can do a video on basic stuff for beginner ?
Heck I'd be a terrible person to learn from using the lathe! LOL
I'm a big fan of @Blondihacks videos on lathe work
thanks bro ive been watching her videos this evening actually @@RedBeardOps
Gotta say, this is extremely generous of you and very much appreciated! I recently completed my first knife in a large part due to watching your channel, and plan to make more when the weather warms up again here. Having some known good plans gives me a better starting point for my next knives, so thanks! Class act brother.
Heck yeah! Glad you'll get some use out of them! Cheers

И вам тоже!
hello I want to try heat treatment to my vanax steel in the manual it says 1975F 30min so should I pre heat my oven to 1975degree then put it 30min? or should i put steel in room temp then wait 30min to 1975 degree?
Hey man, I'm not sure about your steel. Never used it before.
Please,if you do use the templates and sell your work, give Red Beard credit. Thank you kind sir for the generosity!
Good luck with your builds, sir!
FIRST FUCK YEAH
🙌
What a great idea! I have an engineering and design background and I also have CAD designs for the knives I make that I would like to share. I don't have a UA-cam or anything like that. Would you be interested in some sort of a collab?
Potentially! I haven't thought about that... hit me up via email - redbeardops@gmail.com

Thank you for the generosity toward new makers and those who are more advanced. There is something about giving that creates a good feeling about what you did. Takers who do not give, are usually not truly happy. Keep up the good work. Blessings to you and your family for a great Christmas.
Thank you sir, cheers! I may release the 2021 designs first or second quarter next year... they got better over time :)
Pretty cool thing to do👍. I might check it out. If i see a knife i like i usually just sketch it out till it looks right even for me who struggles drawing stick figures its not to hard
Very kind, thank you.
Thanks mate
Your giving to the knife making community is as always amazing.
Thank you greatly Justin! Cheers sir
thanks!!
This is an impressive bit of generosity. Thank you so much!
Cheers Daniel! Good luck with your build!
Thank you very much, Doctor Keaton! Now I just need to get CAD software, lol. But nevertheless, this is awesomely generous of you, bro.
Cheers! You can view the .dwg files for free in a software like NanoCAD
ooops, continued, thing. Have a Nerry Christmas and be blessed. Thx again!
Thanks, you too!
Do you have a template for a k-bar knife
Nope, just the ones in the library for now. Cheers
Talk about timing. I have been slowly learning just as a hobby and about to start a from scratch build but was trying to get ideas on how to draw up my own knife designs. These templates give me a base to learn about when actually making them as I move forward into my own designs. Simply amazing and thank you for doing this!
Good luck with your builds!
Do I just print the Template onto paper? Do I have to do anything to get the right size? Also I downloaded and opened the template and it got messed up or something will it come out normal when I print it out? Thanks I’m new to this knife making stuff but I hope to get good and it thank you for your videos I love them
Should be able to open the PDFs and print them. Make sure your printer settings aren't changing the size. Select "actual size" under more options. Not fit to page.
Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure!
thanks, a lot for the drawings. Merry Christmas to you and your wife. stay safe.
Thanks, you too! Cheers Will
Thx for this 😊
Glad it will help! Cheers
That’s awesome James! I’ll be sure to use my new RBO height scribe fixture on one of your designs first. Seems fitting. Merry Christmas sir!
Nice Jason! Hope it serves you well! Cheers
Thank you so much for offering your designs, its nice of you to share with the knife making community!
Hope you put them to good use!
This is amazing!! As a new knife maker, I really appreciate the easy to follow designs while I learn my own style.
Heck yeah! Good luck with your builds sir!
Search this "Lloyd Harding - 100s of Knife Patterns - KnifemakerC" use a peer to peer client to download it
Wow! What an incredibly generous gesture and so encouraging for beginners, thankyou.
Cheers! Hope these help
@@RedBeardOpsthey certainly will.😊
Great offering, James!
It was this kind of help to new makers that inspired me to make the knives I have.
🤜🏻💥🤛🏻
Glad to hear it! Cheers my friend

You bet!
doing this is huge for new knife makers. too many hold onto simple things like this and think screw others and helping them. again a huge thank you for those who need this
Thank you for the kind words! Keep in mind I don't think we should be too hard on others... I've been selling templates for a long time. There is pride in making a nice design and I understand selling them; especially for those who are knifemakers full time. Cheers sir! Have a great holiday!
@@RedBeardOps i fully understand as a fellow knife maker. i have been smithing for 29 years. so many in our community couldn't care less about giving back as you have, that's why i thought a thanks was well deserved.
@@dagnard5707 Thank you greatly for the praise sir
oh man, that's way awesome! Thank you!
Glad you like it!
