So if we want/need a large amount of cargo space our Toyota options are now limited to the Sienna. This Sequoia takes a huge step back not having a flat and lower load floor. I already have a hard time loading large suitcases and full ice chests. This configuration would make that impossible. This is such a cool truck, but moms are going to hate it when it come to space.

My 2008 5.7L RWD sequoia SR5 with the premium package (leather, JBL audio) and towing package (tows 10k Pounds which is very few sequoias) cost $40k new.
It has 206k miles and no issues except the water pump back around 80k.
This new thing looks good..but squats to pee. Not to mention interior room is WAY WAY decreases from gen 2. It actually is on par with the current 4R sadly.

I looked at this vehicle and saw the third-row seat and cargo area and it didn't fit my needs! :( I compared it with the Jeep Wagoneer and it paled in comparison! The Jeep was much cheaper and it gave me more features than I could ever want as Standard! Plus, I could actually find a Jeep Wagoneer to test drive while my Toyota dealer never had any in stock, much less be able to drive any. I was very disappointed in Toyota but the Wagoneer is amazing! For $60K, we got a three-pane pano sunroof, 5.7L V8, real Leather seats (heated and ventilated), a Heated steering wheel, a 10.1" infotainment screen, a fully digital instrument cluster, 20" rims. 8 seats are available on all trims and not like the Toyota I either have to settle for cloth seats to get 8 of them or have to deal with fake leather and only get 7! I predict a refresh soon on these!

I'm not sure why they did the hybrid thing in this truck, the fuel economy isn't that great and they wasted a whole bunch of cargo space to accommodate the batteries. It will sell because it's the "new land cruiser" but it doesn't have any knockout features to win me over.

How sad. Still a solid axle, rear seats folded do not make a flat floor, and sport plus won’t compensate for that. Yes they’ll sell, great looking (finally), quality unsurpassed. But those are 2 huge misses. Ford has solved both of those issues since 2003. GM is late to the party, but Nissan got there years ago. Those are 2 inexcusable misses this day and age. I love Toyotas, but this for an all new design is very sad.

@@ConsoleCombat It is not a feature when every competitor moved to IRS. Saying it is "like a land cruiser" (which they decided they could not sell here) and calling it a feature for a niche set or buyer is a recipe for slow sales. Is your contention that Toyota wanted to build an overweight 4runner and isn't interested in any mainstream sales? That they want to be at the rear of the pack (again) in sales?

    • @georgesnyder5337
      @georgesnyder5337 Рік тому

@@ConsoleCombat The prior generation was IRS - and all the competitors have moved that direction. So now Toyota stands alone. If they wanted to sell a Land Cruiser they could have brought the new Land Cruiser here; but remember - no one was buying that because it was a niche vehicle and few could see/use the benefits it provided (not to mention the fact that Toyota sold them loaded to the gills). So here we are - to have a "land cruiser" proxy, you need to now be in the TRD Pro to get close - and you are now in an $80k vehicle. The Grand Highlander, as far as I know, i an elongated version of the current model - not something new. Maybe I am mistaken - but if so, that is like comparing a Chevy Traverse to the Tahoe, Expedition, etc. Not the same.

Sorry...this is a fail. And saying "They put alot of thought in this" doesnt make it true. They didnt. The Sequoia was supposed to be canceled. The only reason its still here was an engineer made a deal with corporate that if he made a new Sequoia cheap with as many preexisting parts, they would keep it. So they took as much as they could from the tundra and just threw the batteries in the first place they could find the room and called it a day. Theres a reason the Sequoia doesnt have full air ride...sliding second row...auto awd...batter cargo space...etc. Cause that all takes time...and money to make. Instead they cut corners and tried to convince fanboys like yourself that somehow having half the space and out of date tech before its even released is somehow a good thing.
This will not sell. Yes you will have fanboys buying it up just because its a toyota...but it wont sell like they want it to. Enough to save the Sequoia from cancelation in the future. Even if they eventually fix all its shortcomings...by then people will have already bought its competition and moved on.
Now im a huge toyota fan...but im not a fanboy and im sick of all these reviews acting like all these shortcomings dont exist or they are somehow positives just so they can stay in Toyotas good graces. I was ready willing and able to buy the new sequoia when i heard it was being reworked...but this is a joke. The only good thing is the outward design and the engine. And even when it comes to the engine people are saying they still wanted a non hybrid option. When you have options like the Grand Cherokeee/Wagoneer that offer more of everything...hell even the tahoe looks like a luxury vehicle compared to this.
It just being a Toyota and trying to get by on that fact wont save it. Toyota has been really letting me down as of late. And even the upcoming 4Runner redesign is already getting people worried because of Toyotas recent direction.
    Toyota needs new leadership.

That’s the song a dance these reviewers do because god forbid you say something bad then you’re out of their early production models program and they won’t let you touch one before the general public which means less views because everyone’s already gotten to it before you did

@@atg1338 the previous sequoia has full time 4wd. This one doesn’t. The second row doesn’t slide on the new one. It did on the previous generation. They cut corners for sure on the new one.

@@Odat When the last gen was first released and for years after Toyota claimed they couldnt fix the shortcomings of the old Sequoia. It took forever for them to finally admit they actually could add full time awd and even then they only added it to certain trims. They will do the same with this gen. They will claim that they cant fix the storage issue because of the batteries. Then like 5 plus years down the road they will finally fix it and act like they are doing us a favor. Maybe 7 or so they will get around to the awd. Its just not worth waiting for Toyota to get thier heads out of their backsides. Not to mention they will then claim all the bad sales of the Sequoia is proof they should have canceled it anyway. For now something like the new Lexus RX looks good. Plus there is talk of a new Lexus that might fill this niche.

Why would I buy this opposed to buying the Lexus? What are you all trying to tell us that the Lexus is going to be hundreds of thousands of dollars? This is a joke is getting to a point where the greed is out of control with these companies. They seem to think they can charge anything for these vehicles.

If you need a vehicle this big, get a Sienna and call it a day. It does everything the Sequoia does but better. If your masculinity is hurt by that, getting this vehicle will not do a thing for it aside from more self denial.

Put a deposit down for a 2023 on June 2022. Saw the first real world review videos of this vehicle in October. Cancelled our deposit and bought a certified 2021 TRD Sport instead. What a letdown this new design is. Very small interior cargo room, terrible gas mileage for a hybrid, multiple blind spots. The engineer should be fired.

This vehicle is way too expensive I don’t care. How do you try to glorify it? It is a tundra SUV. If a Lexus issued luxury line, how is it that you’re making a little bro more expensive or does this means you’re going to have the Lexus Wayover priced. I truly considered this vehicle but looking at it for the money it’s not worth it.
