I don't dive, free dive, spearfish because I can't equalize. That & I've blown my left eardrum 5 times, right eardrum twice. I've got hearing loss in my left no surprises. Great video. Gotta add that an experienced diver once told me that snorkelling was worse for your ears due to the constant change in pressure being experienced. Always found that an interesting piece of advice. Happy spearfishing people.
Hi,I can equalise at atmospheric pressure by swallowing and pinching, but I can't equalise by moving the tongue up and back and I gag. Is there anything else I can do?
Negative, his reply above is incorrect in every way, you always want to equalize up and down as it allows repeated dives more often and repetitively and helps install better technique and helps prevent an imbalance of equilibrium which nit only reduces issues with balance but helps prevent vertigo from diving at depth!!! If you have issues going to the bottom of an old school pool at 10 to 12 ft then you definitely need to always practice equalization during descent and ascension
If I make alot of freedives deep for 3 + days in a row my ears almost always start to become hard to equalise even though they never hurt and when it happens I have to waste alot of time mid water trying to equalise or have to stay shallow
I really like watching your guyses video especially wanted spearfishing and snorkel videos and stuff like that I really like watching you guys is tips and you spray gun video your roll a gun video on guns like that
Hey Billy, As Jacob said, cold water doesn't have any direct effect on equalising, however, it has been noted that some people have a histamine response to cold water causing a partial blockage in the eustchian tubes.
As a biochem major I will tell you not only is Jacob and Adreno correct, but they also aren’t. Each person is different in genetics and biology and nothing can change this except training and repeatedly involving yourself in the same situation! This being said yes cold water affects equalizing directly as it happens in the inner ear and effects the Fallopian tubes and the colder it is the harder it should be to equalize if you aren’t experienced as you will experience minor shock from the water temps and possibly be in mild hypothermia and have issues, especially if you are only acclimated to warmer water temperatures. That being said, comfort under water and experience play a large role as well as you know to stop descending and equalize before passing different atmosphere levels without regard and risking issues so the answer is more truly yes and no from the scientific standpoint!!!
dragonfistbs thank you very very much for that advice. That is very affective. For a fact that my left ear equalised easer then the right one when it was the opposite. Many thanks
Hey there, that method is great for getting down in the shallower water, but if you're looking to dive deeper and for longer, we would recommend looking into the Frenzel equalising method, which we'll be covering in part 2 and 3 of this mini series.
Love the videos boys, but this one felt a bit rushed. People in the background, lots of video cuts etc. The content is great though and always informative.
Hey Forest, thanks for the feedback, we're always experimenting with subtle changes like changing the angle to include customers in the background so it's great to hear your feedback.
A whole video on Introduction to Equalisation with many hand gestures to illustrate "Equalizing". Never once explained how to equalize. I still don't know how to equalize. Stupid video.
this dudes a legend, saw him in the store the other day, super friendly.

Things my padi instructor should have mentioned... 9 weeks later and still healing... thank you
My left ear will equalize well because of this video. Thanks 💯👏
Whoever balanced the sound put most of it in the left speaker?
lapel mic isn't stereo, editor needs to fill the right channel to fix in post
Hey Justin, Sorry about that, technical issue.
@Adreno Spearfishing I’m just glad for the training!
ALWAYS 1 NEGATIVE GUY LOL
I think you guys missed the joke... lol
FANTASTIC instructor! Really great way of explaining things. Many thanks
+1 awesome video, greetings from Poland 🇵🇱 thank you!
This is great info, and I love the Nuclear Fusion intro! Good choice.
Awesome channel guys. Love the passion and information you freely share
These advices are great, I wish I could get this info before rupturing my right ear drum.
very helpful. some got deaf by diving without this equalization. thank for sharing
Thank you very much! I hope one day I will come to Australia and do spearfishing.

Really great info and love the professional quality of all your videos (y)
Please do a yellowtail kingfish Tips
Great idea!
My right ear enjoyed this video
Thanks For The Advice Very Helpful👍😁
Do I equalise just going down? What about coming up?
Not really, because the pressure is decreasing.

@@rpetersen2 good info. Thanks
Can this also happen with rapid descents in a plane.
Hello! Sir I have a question that does the wetsuit hood helps with the pressure when your going down? If not why do they use that particular one?
If I make alot of freedives deep for 3 + days in a row my ears almost always start to become hard to equalise even though they never hurt and when it happens I have to waste alot of time mid water trying to equalise or have to stay shallow
Also they start to hurt when I equalise probably even more so when I'm out of water and I get heaps of random half pops not just one
You are amazing... please do more videos!!!
Hello sir im One of your followers.. Just want to know and ask why is it when i dive very deep my eyes got tears.. Thanks.. Hope you reply.. 😊
Good lookin out! Thanks!
I really like watching your guyses video especially wanted spearfishing and snorkel videos and stuff like that I really like watching you guys is tips and you spray gun video your roll a gun video on guns like that
Thanks! Glad you enjoy our videos.
Video about equalizing ear stuff and the sound in the ears aren't equal... Coincidence? I think not ;)
Great Advice !
Precious 1
Does cold water effect equalising
no
Not directly but often people are tense in cold water, as a result constricting the eustchians.

Good advise , thank you
Indonesia hear it,, thank you sir,,🙏 Yo ma men,,
I cant equalise my left ear , it gets more difficult as much as I try.
Any suggestions?
what method of equalization you are using?
dragonfistbs thanks for asking.
I pinch my nose and blow.
My right ear pops but my left ear may get a little pop or nothing.
Tilt your head away from the ear that is being difficult, apparently extending the eustschian tube can help..
do not use this equalisation technique it can cause damage to the eardrum. Google Frenzel equalisation
dragonfistbs thank you very very much for that advice.
That is very affective.
For a fact that my left ear equalised easer then the right one when it was the opposite.
Many thanks
I equalize by pressing on my nose and pushing my ears out?

Me using solely my right ear bud looking at all the left ear bud comments : 👁️👄👁️

1 minute of repeating the same thing...
A whole video on Introduction to Equalisation with many hand gestures to illustrate "Equalizing". Never once explained how to equalize. I still don't know how to equalize. Stupid video.
Matthew Mills In the title it doesn’t state once that he was going to teach us how to equalise but it is in the part 2 vid.
Matthew Mills Bruh tell me why i thought the same thing now im looking up videos on how to equalize 😂😂😂😂
stop scare us we know free diver can go more than 40 no problems in ear
Too much talking and don't even say what equalizing is and how to do it.
You must equalize a lot your nose is red😂
Was thinking the same thing.
