The biggest question is if CP looses so much money every year, why hasn’t the $500,000/year CEO and VPs been replaced? and why are they still getting hefty bonuses?
Ok, but we’re talking about a business that is losing hundreds of millions per year, and billions over the last few years. 500k is a drop in the bucket.
Because the workers refuse to deliver on 7 days a week, refuse to allow corporate to alter the model... and their CEO is one of the lowest paid CEOs in the country, paid less than many small business owners. You really think 400k is unreasonable for a CEO?
Totally agree with you, they shouldn’t be giving the employees 7 weeks of vacation, 7 flex days, on top of sick days, $30+ an hour for unskilled labour and all the other perks when they are losing $3 billion over 6 years.
You should apply, you start a 20$, no benefits or anything and no guaranteed hours for about 2 years, then you get Part time and you get 20 hours for another 2 years. Then you're finally full time and you don't get $30 until you reach like 8 years of service.
New hires are casual for a real long time at $21. Casual means no benefits or vacation. No guarantee of hours. Many are hired older. If you see a postal carrier don’t assume they are making $30/hour. It will take many almost a decade to reach $30/hr. Welcome to the gig economy. Between automation and AI there will be fewer jobs and we will definitely need a universal income.
The delivery model does make themnso less competitive. Who wants to go with canada post anymore when they are lower cost options that deliver more hrs n more reliable then them.
