My Sons of Sanguinius Brutalis took down a Nightbringer by itself yesterday. Twin meltas, tank shock and a lucky 6 on its impact hits.
I finally figured out Auspex's secret. He became UA-camr to pay for his plastic drug habit. He is basically perpetual machine: Buys Plastic > Makes Video about Plastic > Earns money for Plastic > Buys more Plastic
I disagree. I thinknhe became a youtuber to show off his sick powerpoint skills and figured a game which has a fuckload of nunbers and text that need to be displayed was the best way to go about it.
A transhuman, he raplced so much of his body with miniatures that he doesn't need to sleep anymore.

I had a buddy play against my Custodes with this beast . He charged, used The tank shock combined with the charge ability and wiped a full squad of Wardens. It hurt and was awesome.
Did you use the Warden's once per battle FNP? Cause 12 wounds seems like a lot of lucky rolling for the tank shock and brutalis charge.
@@XealotCoils To be fair, all of those mortals are charge phase. So if they used the FNP against the tank shock and charge, they wouldn't have any FNPs against a unit that has D3 melee when they moved to the fight phase.
@@Mike-gx1dw yeah but the brutalis only has like 6-7 attacks. Not really that many esp when you consider the invuln.
@@XealotCoils 100%, but there's room for 2-3 Wardens to die in both phases, it's not crazy to have the one you didn't decide to FNP spike and kill 3-4 while the other kills 1-2.

I embark my brutalis in a stormraven along with 5 DW knights and a chaplain in terminator armor. The 20" with fly means I can usually drop the terminators onto a no mans land objective AND score deploy teleport homers turn 1, and the terminators soak just a ton of damage. The brutalis usually gets dropped off behind a piece of cover where it can be slightly safe while also threatening anything that gets close on my opponents next turn. Most opponents have yet to shoot down the brutalis, instead trying to kill the stormraven.
This combo is not competitive, but it has been fun in my casual games.
A guy at my LGS runs this. Personally I love it when he delivers 1/4 of his list to my world eaters

“When you are instructed to Declare Battle Formations, Aircraft models must start the battle in Reserves instead of being set up on the battlefield. Once the battle has started, Aircraft models are then treated as Strategic Reserves units for all rules purposes (see Strategic Reserves section).”
“Units that are placed into Strategic Reserves are called Strategic Reserves units, and can arrive later in the battle during the Reinforcements step of any of your Movement phases except during the first battle round.”
The stormraven has the Hover rule, which allows you to decide during battle formations if you want to use it as an aircraft with 20+ movement, or as a non-aircraft flying vehicle with 20" movement.

Strength: it’s great against fight firsts unit! Because of ability and tank shock directly to the unit or to a nearby unit which would allow you to pile in to the fight first unit and nullify that targets fights first
There was never a time I didn't run both of my Brutalises, because Rip and Tear.
When I build a 3-4k Blood Angel collection in the late summer after their codex releases, I will definitely buy a Brutalis Dreadnought for them.

@@Powaup yeah I'll still get it at some point for sure. Dreads looking cool is what for me to pick up Warhammer a couple years ago and the brutalis is the last redemptor frame I need for the set
You aren't a trend chaser, you are a trend SETTER! Get what you like, that's more important than anything.
Rules are temporary, plastic is forever. He’s fun and absolutely not meta.
He was my first vehicle back when he was more expensive for his points, I’ve loved him since then and now he’s just as good. Seeing him and my redempty boy on the field gives me strength.

allistus is a Machine. Today it shot down an Armiger and two Carnifex in a 6 player match. If this guy has space to eoam and shoot from the backline, its montrous :D
Ballistus is a staple in my list, that plus a lancer nuke most big enemy things for me rather easily
Can confirm, Ballistus goes hard. Can't wait to add a Brutalis to the list.

@@AlunDowdeswell Depends on your groups local meta and what you like. I run Salamanders and like an aggressive list, so a Brutalis will always have a home!
Got 2 of them and I agree, main strength is at the same time main weakness. When it reaches HTH combat, it rips and tears, otherwise it's only tears... Brutalis's owner tears...
Bothh Redemptor and Invictor are more versatile and feel better but I still like Brutalis. (and will continue use them)
Also fielding 2x Brutalis, 2x Redemptor and 2x Invictor and watching opponents face - priceless, for everything else, there's Iquisi-Card. (Don't have Balistus yet ;( )

Plus it look's like that Forklift-suit from Aliens and has a flamethrower, perfect for my Sallies and packs quite a punch.

i have liked the brutalis since it came out, allready have one painted up in death company colours for my blood angels from when it first came out (split the box set with my brother who wanted the decolators), i do hope teh BA book when it comes does make actual death company brutalis dreads a thing, cos thats going to make them a rampageing murder machine

I love my Brutalis Dreadnoughts, I run 2 in my Raven Guard list. The tank shock + brutalis charge piles mortal wounds and its twin linked talons & Twin melta do a good job cleaning up everything else
I love that charge ability. I transport it with stormraven to charge range.
I love my murder mech. I love that he’s now the cheapest primaris Dreadnaught. I usually run iron storm with him. Having the advance and charge advance and shoot tech marine running along beside him to crash into objectives is always fun. Usually he’s a bit of a distraction carnifex and draws all the enemy fire turn one witch is fine as my other Dreadnoughts or other infantry then follow him. I usually try and have some scouts infront if him to bait a charge from the opponent and then counter charge with him.
I usually use the wulfen dreadnought instead of this. It has -1T and -4W, but it gets an invuln and 6+fnp with the axe and shield, and a better rule (deals more mortals, and much more often). It doesn't have the gun options, being limited mainly to a heavy flamer or storm bolter, but for only 130pts it makes a great distraction. While melee with the axe only goes up to S10, D6+1 damage helps make up for it
I’m going to try one with my Ultramarines this weekend, but in the past I’ve had the exact problem this video points out. Once my opponent see what it does it becomes the priority target, and never makes it to combat. That said, at 160 points, it makes for a decent “Distraction Carnifex” to ensure it takes the heat instead of something else important.
I didn't realise Brutalis even had a fist option, I've only ever seen people using the claws. Was thinking of getting one to run as Bray'arth Ashmantle
I've been using one in my games for a few weeks, I actually just got mine finished the day before the points went down so I'm sure some people think I'm only taking it cos it's cheaper. I love how it plays though, it's such an effective battering ram if it gets into combat. One game I managed to get it to take down a winged hive tyrant, a trygon, and about half the wounds off a tyrannofex before it died

Answering all questions, even before the price drop I always had the Brutalis in the army. It goes in a Stormraven to be deployed turn 2 or 3 to guarntee it is close enough to charge. As Blood Angels, I get the nice 7 Strength 14 attacks, which also gives 16 tank shock dice should I chose to use that. All combined, the Brutalis usually obliterates anything it touches. it has even dealth with a 10 strong Terminator unit. I want to see a Death Company version though. That would be even more nasty.
I'm glad I have three of theses
I play Blood Angels with SOS detachment and use 1-2 Brutalis in most games. The tankshock+ ability + oath of moment + red rampage stratagem has killed ctan and monoliths so many times. Its a lot to line up but its nice having 160 points that can kill literally anything for 1-2 cp.
First. Also, I am really enjoying this channel. It's rapidly convincing me to actually buy some miniature kits and start learning the rules...

Bro, don't!!! Please buy 3d prints or at last don't buy all from GW, it's an amazing system and miniatures buy horrible, greedy mother company, using it monopoly.
If you have an lgs you should ask them if they host events they often have events for all skill levels. Some places even have events where experience players come in and help new players build and paint kits!
Ask around your local game shops. You’ll find someone happy to help you learn the game
I bought some second hand kits off ebay and am making the jump to 3d printing this summer. Even the eBay models are not worth the price they're charging.
@@Klierowski Most people don't have suitable spaces in their tiny UK houses/flats to 3d print safely. Please anyone reading this, if you actually want to 3d print make sure you read all safety requirements from professionals - not ignorant hobbyists looking to die at 60.
Awesome unit, great for 160pts. Worth running 1-2, particularly in a more aggressive vehicle list.
If it's taking anti-tank on its way in, it means the same guns aren't shooting your other more expensive/fragile vehicles
There is a DA player at my LGS who always brings one of these bad boys, as long as it gets into combat it messes up anything it slams into, the meltas are also not fun to receive a face full of before it charges you.
At this point auspex is just guilliman inbetween issuing orders 😊

You know this is somewhat unrelated but you ever wonder how like Sanguinary Guard and Grey Knights have guns on their wrist but they don't count for Pistols? Like you'd think it would be easier in Melee to shoot those than like an actual Pistol.
Yes and no.
The point of the wrist mounted bolter is to allow a melee weapon to be held in that hand and still be able to shoot.
I guess aiming with your wrist and holding a weapon is too difficult.
I picked one up to be added to my Templars army. Feels a bit Templary with those Melta's and the claws.
Man that -1 on the redemptor is so valuable though. My dreads normally finish the game with 1-3 wounds on it, and without that minus 1 they would have been smoked a long time ago.
Charge, ability, tank shock, attack with its profile is some serious damage
If i use tank shock on drednought and kill some models and now there is no models inside engagement range, i suppose i can't use it ability, because there is no unit in engagement range now?
It IS fun to double up on tank shock with the Brutalis.
Glad I picked one up for it's pre sale price when they came out even though they were meh at the time for their then cost.
I am planning on running one with my White Scars in a 1000 point list, but two in my 2000 point list. I'm thinking that with the 1000 point list I'd go with Gladius detachment rather than Stormlance because I'm not totally melee. I have Invaders and Stormspeeders you see.

My favorite Dread, always talons for me
For me, using a unit like this successfully benefits greatly from redundancy. If you're going to take one unit of this type, take two or three or four etc.
Personally as someone who plays blood angels i much prefer fists since with talons you choose strike or sweep but fith the fists you always get shooting and melee attacks so overall to a hoard he would still do more damage with the fists.
Great Gladius dreadnought due to the innate advance and charge. Also the perfect rapid ingress candidate.
This is the big melee dread, then we have the Invictor which is the scout dread, which have a stronger fist at 14S
Either give it a boost of attacks or make it hit on twos. It has the same attacks as a redemptor and the ap is the same as well.
It has one more attack and twin linked! Thats an extra 80% wounds versus a toughness 12 enemy!
An then there is the mortal wounds...

Twin linked is essentially a tiny bit better than +1 to wound

As a non-Space Marine player when I see one I know i either have to deal with it or run away, so I think it's pretty solid for forcing me to adapt my own gameplan around it (to be honest I'm more scared of an Aggressor squad with all of the fixings). I'd rather get charged by the Redemptor with its fewer hits than this dudes huge output.

Brutalis got caught in melee by a ctan unit and never emerged from it. Did a total of 2 damage in total that entire match.
But it was my 2nd match ever so i didnt expect much.
If the C'tan was shard of the Void Dragon then it was a hard counter to your Brutalis.
Problem REALLY IS how do you get it to survive until he reaches melee? Anti-tank is so efficient against dreads, they just get bullied :( It's such a high-risk high-reward unit.

Just bought a Lee man russ for my ultramarine army instead of an brutralis because it looked to be worse stats wise :(
Also it was 4 € more costly than the Lee man russ(50€)
The leman russ can only be used for the asta militarum
The talons are objectively cooler but worse in most scenarios.
The sweep is only good into t3 or 4 1w infantry, and the 4 free bolter shots on the fists don't rely on you making the charge.
Wish List: +2" to its movement characteristic.
Only scary in Black Templars TBT - outside of that, it's NAFF!!!!
It's a good unit, but it falls over to a stiff breeze. I have played two games with mine so far, and it's yet to get into combat with anything. It's special ability should have been a charge reroll.

It won't matter. Kroot Pack with EMP and Strike Team Volley ability, puts him in jail hitting on 6s, shooting and combat.
Volley only affects infantry...

I normally am pleased with your observations. I do have issue in this case with some simple math and could be a little nit picky. But with Tank Shock you score a wound on a 5 or 6 rolling 14 dice is 4 to 5 wounds not the average of 7. I know it's a little blah in the grand scheme of things, but really this was an obvious misrepresentation of the odds. IMO. GW lowered the points so people will buy the model not to make the game more balanced. 40k has in my 35 years of playing never been balanced. GW always said they were a model company 1st.
I've run one for the last 4 games and I've found it to be extremely underwhelming. It's forgettable without tank shock. The AP ruins it
I sincerely hate the Icarus autocannon on its back. It just makes it look bad.
It’s a melee machine that still hits on 3+ and doesn’t even get that many more attacks as the regular dread. Main thing is twin linked which is awesome, but not quite what I’m looking for at that points cost still
Tank shock plus it's charge is lots of MW. You're thinking too small
Redemptor can tank shock the same amount and it’s guns can do more than a few mortals before it gets there 🤷🏻♂️
I've seen a couples games with them played both online and in person, combined I've seen them kill a grand total of 0 Models/Units. It dies almost instantly, even with my Blood Angels i would almost never use the unit. Extremely slow, too big, no DR, basically no firepower, the melee is surprisingly underwhelming, and this dread doesn't scale with armies/detachment rules well at all. Just pay the 50 more points and take the Redemptor dread, it's absolutely better.

Just rapid ingress it to ensure it comes in on something
And the multi meltas in shooting BEFORE you charge wouldve been what brings its damage to 16 wounds on a land raider
@@scolack123 I'm not saying it WON'T kill something, im saying that your opponent simply won't ALLOW you to kill something with it or it be worth it. Redemptor Dreads will do the same thing to a land raider and just with it's one plasma weapon in ironstorm, they scale THAT hard. I would need 3 hands to count how many times i've one turned lander raiders or equivalent t12 vehicles (any Chaos or imperial knight) with a single Macro Plasma from a single Redemptor Dread at 36 inch range and then CHARGED and killed a nearby armiger/any other unit and my dread simply refused to die to any retaliation. And ALL it costs was 1 techmarine with an enchancement, 1 red dread and a 1cp strat. (of course i take 3 red dreads). A single Brutalis ( or any number of brutals) dread is never going to scale like that at all
Edit: I also use thunderstrikes to scale the reds even harder with the plasmas against vehicles, i forgot to mention that.
It's more expensive and vastly inferior to a Chaos Knight Karnivore 🙂
Ugh, as a Sallies player I really want to like this, but it still isn’t that good. If it were 140ish, I might consider it.
Too slow to really be a dedicated melee. The melee itself is mediocre unless you count the mortals and even then an extra 1 dead marine or terminator isn’t that exciting…plus with the speed issue getting there without getting shot up is hard. For durability it’s not overly tough for what it is so getting to melee is harder, easy to just feed it chaff and play keep away.
You’d need some heavy CP usage to make it work. Spending that much effort to make a mediocre data sheet into an okay data sheet isn’t the best use of time.
I found one of these on the sidewalk yesterday. Good thing I smashed it.

I first saw their datasheet 3 months ago, and they seemed scary to me then. If i was a Space Marine player, i´d bring 2 each game. With Tankshock they half kill most targets before they even start to swing.
It's a nice model, and yeah, i can see its charge ability, but it sucks. I'm fine with the 160 points, but why in the fu** is any AP on its melee weapons just AP -2? That's nothing justifying the models name. It's meant to kill elite infantry or vehicles, but anyone playing some AoC leaves it on an AP-1 and Terminators still on a 3+. What a pitty you didn't kill any of us, now we're gonna smash you. So I'm a melee dreadnought rushing forwards, where's my -1 dmg reduction? Nah, can't have that. Died on its walk to the frontier. And what about those two twin meltas firing just lame two shots? Sorry, the brutalis is a wasted model of no use either for my BA or Salamanders.

Apparently the brutalis kit is just as bad as the redemptor dread which means im not buying it.
for 90$ it should carry me to the table and singlehanded wipe the other player off the board. GW is out of thier damn minds.
