Shirley is a 60+year old woman with a slender frame, it doesn't matter how tough her attitude is, in real life Gray would have killed her. Then Mick came in, who is supposed to be savage over his sisters murder, and only gave Gray one kick. Then Mick somehow didn't notice Gray standing up right behind Shirley and slowly raising a chair leg to hit her with. Then, when he caught him on the stairs he gave him a single punch and went back to check on Shirley, even though he could have battered him or smashed his head against the bannisters/wall first to make sure he wouldn't escape. It was just ridiculous.

Loved Shirley in this episode it reminded me back of the day the character of Yvonne Atkins in bad girls and what a great actress she become over years
Been watching Eastender's on & off since the 80's. Here in the states, soap opera's are very different! Glad Eastender's was able to hold onto Shirley throughout the years! Always amazing performances by this actress. Is Phil still around? Sure wish Alfi would come back!

Well he tried to tempt everyone into killing him but nobody did so he lost. He used the weakest person which was Karen she fell for it and ultimately got hurt the most by intimidating her at the end . Nobody else showed fear but her
Yhey are basically made for each other, but also complex characters - so similar that they clashed. Shirley was also basically a mother to Ben, but that got tainted after Heather's death. But I do believe out of all the women Phil was with, it's Shirley he truly loves but can't stand, because she challenges him and basically one and the same.

Tina was too weak, and vulnerable, she could have been alive, if she didn't get involved, the lesson here is, never confront a murderer, unless a- you are physically stronger than him, and know you can tackle him, or b- you have back up, and know you are protected, if he makes an attempt to kill you.

Similarly, Grey didn't expect Shirley to attack (he probably didn't even consider she fully knew all the facts, and would comfort him), so she had the upper hand. It's completely about strategy, and the Carters lost it when they kept eyes off Grey - hence him getting away... Makes sense also why he didn't just jump in and attack Whitney at the railing; he was confronted by someone who could see through his weakness and made him vulnerable. This is very true to life. I have to give credit to all actors for pulling this off very accurately. Tina, Chantelle and even Chelsea would have had much better results if they had a focus going in, not being flippant in the moment (and being alone). But that's just human nature trying to protect and stand up for yourself. Even though logic can dictate where the strengths and weaknesses are, fight or flight is instinctual.

I hope its not true because I want to see Mick find out that Janine has been lying to him to break him and Linda apart. God I hate Janine and bringing her back was the worst thing to do.
