I've never seen a channel have enough dedication to the hobby to seek out interviews like this. Great job! I'm glad I found your channel. I've decided to start MESBG in Covid, unfortunately shipping times are subpar. No regrets though.
These guys along with Jes were my heroes from the late 80's on. The 2 most prolific minature sculptors of all time. What a surprise when Michael was injured and amazing how quickly he became good again. Thanks gentlemen, for inspiring my imagination for 30+ years! Great interview.
What an absolute gem of an interview! It´s amazing to see how humble these guys are with the fact that they are an integral part of a global phenomenon. Also, that cannon story was equal parts inspiring and terrifying!
Only just discovered your channel and really enjoying the content. I played a bit of LOTR in the early 2000s and I'm seriously considering buying Pelennor Fields box set next week!
Glad you found the channel!! I’d HIGHLY recommend getting involved - join the Great British Hobbit League Facebook page to see the thousands of people across the country in the game, and you’ll see it really is enjoying a great resurgence! Good luck!
Legends! I met then a few time over the years. They were always so nice, so patient, and of course so so talented. Thank you for the awesome interview. What a great watch.
How am I finding this just now? I love interviews with the giants of the hobby, although there isn't that many of the interviews around. Can't wait to listen to this, thank you! EDIT: It was great, thank you very much!
Great interview! There was a similar event to what happened to Michael here in Norway two years ago. Some days and events are marked by 21 shot cannon salutes. While some of these salutes are done by the national guard (I've done quite a few myself, noisy as hell), some historical societies do these on their own. They arent quite sure what happened, but it appears the blank detonated before the breach on the cannon was properly shut and one re-enactor lost his arm.
Sometimes it sounds like the Perry bros speak simlish which makes it hard to follow what they’re saying exactly, but love the interview and worship the Perry Brothers!
Great video! It's fascinating to hear from the creators of the minis littering my hobbydesk. Thanks for the effort in making such content and keep up the good work!
23:50 Bloody heathen. when I was a kid I loved the 1970's Ralph Bakshi animated LOTR, it wasn't perfect and the "ending" was kind of a paste-up because they decided not to make the second half, but I must have watched it twenty times. The Black Riders and the Orcs were in some ways creepier than in the movie, I think because the hobbits in the animated version are weak and fearful, where in the modern version they're a bit too fearless - the scene with the Watcher in the Water for example; exactly how does Frodo Baggins not poop his pants when he's about to be eaten by a giant octopus-human-skull monster? I mean, he's a hobbit; the scariest thing he's ever done in his life is scrumping apples.
Haha! To be fair the Bakshi animation IS iconic - and lots of its script and visuals are aped by Jackson throughout his trilogy. But to me there’s something too theatrical and silly to Gandalf in particular! The orcs were creepy that’s for sure! Thanks for watching ☺️
What an incredible interview. It would be great, if you activate (if you can do it, i don´t really know how it works) the function for the automatic subtitles. For some of us, is quite hard to understand all the british and profesional slang they use here (even knowing that this auto subtitles use to fail more than a shotgun) and we will appreciate it so much. Thanks for the work, mate ;)
I had no idea it didn't do them automatically. I'll look into it and see what I can do. In the meantime, if yo8u have any specific questions about what they say I'm happy to help!
Great interview, heard on the green dragon podcast you’re a journo and it shows! Hard to top the Perry twins but hope you can interview some more MESBG royalty!
You can still get the Airfix kits now! But if I’m honest, models have come such a long way since those days that Airfix, while wonderful for nostalgia reasons, is a bit redundant.
@@EntmootVideos I agree but I really must ask why that is so. Why didn't they go down the path of say Zvesda for example and cater to the war-gaming market? Why didn't they adopt hard plastic. I dont know. I guess they had their time.
I don’t know how you got that from their innocuous comment. From what they said off camera and from what I’ve heard from others, it seems there was a period in GW’s history where some of the iconic designers and writers didn’t like the direction the company was going and there was a bit of a cull of senior team members across the board

Thank you! I’m guessing you’re international, it will arrive eventually but covid ain’t helping! Thanks for watching
"Mammoth task..." Good work Harry!
Thank you!! Sadly they didn’t pick up on the joke!!

Such a good interview and chat with them, very insightful and interesting!!
These interviews are truly brilliant, as is the the initiative to do them. Thank you so much!
Good interview. I can never get enough of the 90’s sculptors and rules writers from GW
They seem like a couple of good old boys. Nice to see them at work. Real artists.
They were top fellas! All the guys in this series have been brilliant
I am so lucky to own one of Alan's most iconic (and rare) sculpts, the Citadel Giant. Absolutely chuffed with him.
Absolutely incredible. No idea how you get these interviews.
Persistence and a can do attitude!
What an absolute gem of an interview! It´s amazing to see how humble these guys are with the fact that they are an integral part of a global phenomenon. Also, that cannon story was equal parts inspiring and terrifying!
They’re fantastic fellas - thanks for your kindness!

Lovely fellas, and we’re very gracious with their time
Alan and Micheal are more than sculptors of miniatures...they are artisans of History.
Incredibly interesting watch, thanks Harry
Has anybody else noticed how they complete each other's sentences?
Twins indeed.
Incredible interview, these men are brilliant! God bless you!

Great interview, love seeing the creators' insights into this game, and I adore both their previous and more recent work :)
The greatest miniature sculptors in history and damn swell lads as well. Very good interview.
So interesting, really enjoying these interviews Harry. Thanks for making them happen
You’re welcome! Glad you’re enjoying them!
Truly brilliant content, looking forward to any future interviews you may have lined up 👍
I have ideas! Thank you!
Great interview! Entertaining and insightful the whole time.
Really enjoyed that. Took me back to my teenage years
The Chunuk Bair diorama is a tremendous tribute to those brave men at Gallipoli. The
Perry brothers should be very proud of their contribution.
It looks amazing - sadly it’s been broken up now 😔
@@EntmootVideos Such a loss. The Diorama’s in the Australian War Memorial are amongst its most popular exhibits.

They really are interchangeable in voice tones - and finish each others' sentences too XD
Really enjoyable watch. Well done!
Thank you! I hope you enjoyed the others too!
That was an outstanding interview, thank you for posting this!!
Great stuff Harry! As always.
Love their minis they’re probably my favorite mini company
Great video Harry! Absolutely loving this series of interviews.
Enjoyed this a lot.
Great! I hope you enjoyed the others too!
Can't wait for this!

Legends
Grand!
I had no idea they sculpted this range!
They spent almost half the time they spent at GW on it! 1999 ish to 2015
Heroes!!!
Would it be possible to put the subtitles? Pleace.
Thanks from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Hi Nico, I have no idea how to do that I’m afraid. I will investigate!
Good stuff? Green stuff? Good Green Stuff!!!
I remember when Michael lost his hand - was it a cannon exploded while they did English Civil War reenacting?
Answer is in the video.
brilliant insight from some wargaming legends.
Очень интересное интервью, спасибо за него!
Great video, im a bit late to the party
I really wish they would remaster the original sets
Someone one day
Me too 🥰
Did you get to have a game of lotr in the home of lotr?
Did they make you a cup of tea, and if so did they have really ace biscuits?
Sadly no - I did hint at it but I’m not sure they were keen!
No biscuits either - I was far too busy for that!
Airfix generation. I had thousands of them too. Better days if you ask me.

Basically every time they open their mouths. Very interesting and well worth the hour
This a sculpting video, not painting one 😉
Such a shame we are destroying this art with yet.... More soulless technology. Makes me dislike GW, I must check out Perry miniatures.
I wouldn’t say it was soulless technology - even Michael or Alan said their favourite sculpt was Smaug which was done digitally
"Might get messy" oh shit.... now im worried theyre horribly homophobic or something. :S
