We have been protesting Netanyahu for years now. The current series of weekly protests has been going since february 2023, and I've been to similar protests since 2011. That said, Israel is learning the same lesson we did during the Iraq and Vietnam wars. If you go to war under false pretenses, whether that’s communism or weapons of mass destruction or hostages you keep bombing, you lose civilian morale, and if you lose civilian morale, you lost the war.

Suggesting the killing of hostages as part of a political plan without evidence of who killed them is an example of one-sided journalism.
If taking hostages allows Hamas to have leverage when they are losing, it will set a very dangerous precedent. It validates the decision of Hamas to take and hold hostages. If Hamas survives this war, they will call if a victory and continue to dominate Palestine for years to come.

Actually, if you wanted to date it, this started in 1855 with the Tanzamat reforms allowing Jewish Russians fleeing pogroms to buy land from those that didn't own the land in the first place. A ceasefire at whose at whose expense? At a strategic level , Israel has to defeat Hamas once and for all for a long-term solution to the Hamas problem. Unfortunately, a civilian may look at it from an emotional level and propose that Netanyahu should give in for temporary peace. What the civilian, emotional choice misses is how that path would embolden Hamas to enter Israel and do whatever else they would wish to do in future. Ironically the same people would blame Netanyahu for not protecting them against external aggression. That's the hardship.

you must not be paying very close attention. A deal has been made 4 times now. Each time, the USA says in advance that israel has already agreed to the deal. Its actually "israels deal" they say. And then netanyahu at the last minute blows up the deal by changing all the terms, and demanding extra random stuff from egypt that he knows they will never agree to. Then the US state dept goes on a propoganda tour trying to explain why Isreal didnt accept the deal. But if you watch the UN proceedings, which are lengthy and happen all the time, it is painfully obvious that the deal is and has been on the table, just as Biden presented it months ago, and the only reason it hasnt happened yet is because of the fascists in Israels govt. Just listen to the speeches they give at the UN, you can hear them every month they change their mind and demand more land from the palestinians. Now they are starting fights in West bank and lebanon for no reason, just because they want to keep the cover of war going for as long as they can. As a member of Queers for Palestine, I know the LGBT and trans community is fully embraced by the Palestinians, Hamas and Islam. We are one big loving family with the exact same values. Just because the Palestinians attacked, murdered and kidnapped hundreds of Israelis, doesn't mean they can counterattack or try to free the hostages that are receiving great care and love.
