- So we fed 335 and a half sheep, Oliver did some trenching that's long overdue ! Kids checked the moles and loved it .

Welcome to Sam Shutt Farming, daily life on the Hill farm
This is Sam and Oliver plus 4 children farming beef sucklers and sheep in the North Yorkshire/Cumbria border area.
We are first-generation farmers, and we've had no help at all to get to where we are now. We are here to show you our life and what we do. I am also here to show new entrance that it is possible to start from scratch. Being strong-willed, determined, and a lot of hard work, you can do it.
We are both from farming backgrounds. I grew up on a family dairy farm. Milking from a very young age.Working for my uncle when i left school. I've learnt everything from him and grown ever since. I met Oliver when I was 16 he was 15. We started with a few sheep when we met and have built up over the 16 years to where we are now. We took on a 500-acre hill farm in 2019, currently 5 years into the tenancy.
Also, here to show people women can be useful in the agricultural world.😉😁

Listen u must be the hardest working lady I have ever seen Ur a credit to Ur family Ur brilliant Ur husband doesn't know how lucky he is Ur working night and day in the farm can I be honest is it pointless leasing land making someone else happy I think 120 acres is more than enough I am from a farming background myself I have 60 acres myself all in the same area we had to stop milking cows the cost of electricity and ration is crazy the cost of straw 150 a round bale not going to spend that on straw

If I remember correctly my dad gave us 1 old penny per mole as kids when we lived near Kirby Lonsdale , I can tell you we worked hard for them pennys , fond memories of my dad ❤

is oliver softening a little bit.........he was halve nice today........opening and shutting gates.........throwing the hay out the back of the buggy. oliver was 'Ditching' with his digger that's what we would call it down here. is that land the sheep is on part of the farm or is it grazing rights land..........we got grazing rights on Dartmoor but your not aloud to feed cattle hay or silage up there cos they poach the land

As a farmer myself there is no better sight than seeing those sheep being fed a very rewarding job well done ! Nice to see oliver half happy 😂😂
