The unit powered up but had nothing on the display. It turned out that the VFD was shattered. A replacement was fitted. Basic load testing was performed.
It's nice that you found a replacement VFD. That is not always possible. I need another display from a Keithley 2700, but I have been unable to find one.
I think all the keithley from that style/era have the same displays, I salvaged one from a 7000 switch matrix for a DMM, you can sometimes find them cheap on eBay
I'm finding VFDs annoying these days, ie, my car clock/microwave/VCR display are getting very dim because everything around here is very old - boohoo -.

Who knows how long these HP/Agilent VFDs will be available from China.......must admit I have a couple bought and saved away just incase I need them!

Is that capacitors often fail or you saw that its failing because how it looks?
