Good morning Cyrus...greetings from Costa Rica. What your doing is sooo important...as most Americans never even get a passport. Their born on the state plantation...& see nothing beyond the fences. With 36 yrs. of having left the USA ... I never regretted the move. Not only good health...security...& adventure...but ""prosperity"" over what I could ever had obtained back home. I have lived in Japan...Columbia...and Ecuador ... but nothing comes close to Costa Rica. Thanks again brother.
This, and that the 2 parties do not really reflect what most people value, but we are seemingly stuck with them. Taken to extremes, which happens when either one of the 2 parties have any bit of power, they both lead to moralistic tyrannies, either the Woke Leftists with their dogma, or the religious evangelicalism associated with the Right. Better would be something closer to libertarian and classical liberal ideals which actually promote freedom instead, but we are stuck with Dems and Reps, and special interests who are actually running the show. Also less interests that favor and interfere with other countries and instead invest locally would be better. I know most Americans do not feel like they are represented by their representatives. Politics, politicians, and government are ruining the US now.

US citizen here, 62 years old. Living in America is exhausting. Everything is war. War overseas, cold war, trade war, culture war, war on this, war on that. War forever. There has to be a better way than this.
American society is fake and superficial. If you're poor people look down on you and treat you like crap. You get no real love in this system. It's all fake and phony. People only want to like you and be friends with you when you have money or connections to money and power. And when you don't have it anymore they leave you abandon you. most Americans never travel aboard, the few that does almost always goes to Western Europe, Mexico, Canada, or just tourist spots. If more people travel to Japan, China, Korea, Thailand, Russia. Americans would be enraged by how much the media and politicians lies to them about the world. other countries have modern infrastructure, cheap living expenses, public safety, clean streets, and affordable medical service that would make NYC look like a third world slum (well it is LOL)

I’m Irish retired in Thailand and I absolutely despise American geopolitics aka coups, sanctions, military invasions, nefarious CIA plots, etc. etc. The rest of the world has lost all respect for USA in recent decades.

Only the rich and those who have the luxury of expensive degrees can leave. Outside of marrying a foreigner for some countries laws. Otherwise you need to attempt to pursue citizenship by descent IF your lucky enough. Most people can NEVER leave, barring a miracle.

Due to some horrible experiences living in the U.S., I ended up being slightly ahead in the game. My disgust with the U.S. hit it's boiling point years ago. As soon as I turned 66 and started getting my Social Security, I got a passport and started figuring out where I was going to go. I'm now in Ecuador. I pay $350 a month for a place that would cost nearly $3000 a month in the U.S. Perfect weather too. In the U.S. I was suffering with high blood pressure. No more! Even my eye floaters cleared up. Beautiful country.
@@maya8627 I'm new here and can't really tell you a lot about Ecuador as a whole. I'm in the small town of Vilcabamba in the province of Loja. It's a lot different than living in Michigan. When it comes to your health, can you really put a price on that?
But I think Switzerland is a bit too nice to high income foreigners. I know many native Swiss people who have fallen through the cracks. EEA membership and low tax rates may work for the bourgoisie, but it is a bit of leach on the rest of the world and it has led to a surprisingly inequitable country (even if it is not by US standards). The EU needs to crack down on Switzerland as the UK does on offshore tax havens (including its own City of London).

Living abroad in a poor country only works if you're wealthy and retired, with a stable first world income you receive as a first world currency. Otherwise people would be living in poverty and competing with the locals for slave jobs just to get by. In addition to that, a lot of infrastructure and high standards of quality exist in these countries because of the first world presence. For example, Malaysia's good health care system is because of doctors imported from, educated and trained in the West by Western standards. And if everyone leaves the first world, there won't be a first world anymore. As for nomad capitalist, he's never telling his audience everything there is to know about another country abroad. For example, if you're a foreigner buying property in some countries, like Mexico, it belongs to the government, not you. Foreigners have no rights in most countries. Something none of these living abroad channels don't talk about.
In Mexico, there are restrictions on foreigners owning land within a certain distance of the coast and borders. Otherwise, foreigners can own land directly. Even within the restriction zones, foreigners can own land in a bank trust or create a business to own the property. Many other countries aren't this liberal, though, especially in Asia.
@@MaryGwenDungan In the Philippines, you lease from the government for a 25 year block of time, and then can extend the lease for another 25 years, if you so wish. A large parcel of land might cost you a few hundred dollars a month to lease. This arrangement allows anything built on that property to be yours. And keep in mind, this keeps an "enterprising" Filipina from stealing your property!

But the great days of the dollar being vastly worth more than the peso are long over. The people speak English, are Christian, and generally friendly. Other parts of the country are not only safe but pleasant as long as you accept that most of it has a continental climate (like the Russian Federation) but have socialized medicine inter alia. I live in Victoria BC and would live few other places most of the year. However, Canada is not immune to nutcase ideas on socio-economic issues as we share history and a long border with the US - the source of most of these metaphysical flights of fancy. If you are a world citizen it matters little where you live but the US and the UK are not recommended as permanent residences unless you are ultra wealthy (greater than 20 million US dollars) and have strong family commitments in North America or age-related infirmities.

I'm Gen X, and I've been trying to move abroad for decades. I finally decided that I'll have to wait until retirement to do so (Another ten years) since I'm neither a nurse, engineer, nor independently wealthy. Same deal for several friends. Between the crumbling infrastructure, poisoned water, crap education, ugly architecture, and toxic culture, there's little for any of us here anymore.
As a millennial I think about leaving the USA every day. I also accept that there are tradeoffs in doing so, but the US is turning into an unlivable place for many reasons, even if you have money.
I moved to the US from Hong Kong for a better life when I was 19 years old, but 50 years later I moved out from the US for a better life in the Philippines with no regrets, very affordable enjoying my wonderful family life here.

Dubai can't grow enough food and doesn't even have a sewer system. Latin America has higher crime rates and worse job prospects. I now live in Japan. I love it. It's safe and crime is low. I never feel threatened where ever I go, day or night, drunk or sober. It's clean; not much litter. Great service without tipping. Superb public transport. Surprisingly cheap now.
Unfortunately I was too old (early retiree) to get hired there for an Assistant Language Teacher and permanent residency is not a given even with enough points immigration is looking for. So I decided not to look for work and just retire outright in another country. Waiting for visa approval as I type and go broke the longer I wait because of the constant COL increases; the de rigueur corporate owned property rent increase comes up this upcoming month.
True. Japan is pretty cheap. It's only about 50% more expensive than the Philippines (where I grew up), the safety and cleanliness is leagues ahead, and the infrastructure isn't even comparable.
The US has a very robust safety net in the form of numerous programs for housing, food, healthcare, childcare, education, and cash assistance. We are way too generous . This is exactly why we have so much illegal immigration. And we really can't afford it. And we give aid to many of the countries that don't provide the same care for their own citizens.
The extent of US decline is now so significant that it is hard to imagine how it can be reversed at this point. Chinese economists are predicting further collapse of America in the next 4 or 5 years.

My grandma moved there a few years back, and when she came to visit us, she was appalled at how expensive everything was here. She tried to buy me a crate of strawberries (thanks Grandma, ily) and her jaw dropped when she heard the price. I don't remember what the price was, but I believe it was around double what she expected it to be. Her funds for her trip to America got drained so fast. Hoping I can visit her in Scotland someday!

My mom is a boomer and turned 70, she worked her whole life to have a house/car etc and its not even paid off... Im 30 and been hustling since 16 and make six figures but thats enough to just make sure I get by and have a semi decent life with the current situation in the US. Now add that I want a family and own a house and thats where its very discouraging because its stacked against you and the US dream is honestly gone and people aren't understanding that. All these corrupt politicians are majority over the age of 50 and they're getting rich and not understanding what the reality of what Americans are going through.

i am 45 and already decided that I want to retire in Cambodia. I have decided that I wont waste my time marrying an American girl as she will likely get in the way of my goal. I have been focusing on finding a Cambodian wife and working as a TEFL teacher until I can open a chain of Cafes in Cambodia. I love living in Cambodian villages where there are no other Americans in sight. I left the USA as I hate the government and prefer not to see other Americans or western people around me. Now I either hang out with Chinese,Vietnamese , Cambodian or other Asian people.

Sadly, Chinese Americans don’t have much of a say here. I'm so over people telling me to go back to my country, even though I was born and raised here.

I've been back from China and Taiwan after 7 years there. Due to an injury I couldn't return to China in 2017. I'm mentally exhausted and despite family buying a condo to try and get me to stay. Mentally I'm soooooo exhausted with the quality of life in my leftist State. As an Independent but realistically a global citizen I'm having anxiety for agreeing to stay. I'm still probably going to travel to Vietnam. I'm short on money but I think I can get by and still pay the minor fees I'm responsible for in America.

I never see you 'overpopulation' people complaining about the fact that the emigration is the only reason most countries have growing populations, or the fact Africa and SEA are the only places still pushing out more births than deaths and thus the sole cause of any theoretical overpopulation.

I'm Brazilian and I noticed this phenomenon recently. More and more Americans are moving here and we're like "What? Why are you here?" and what all of them say is that, despite the numbers, violence in big cities is similar, the food is better, but the main reason is free healthcare. To us, Brazilians, our healthcare system is crap, but apparently it's nothing compared to the US, and medicines are way cheaper here too, which really scares me, because none of those things are good from our perspective, but are great from an American perspective. It's been a shock, because Hollywood always sold the idea of American Dream, but XXI seams like US is only good for the rich or if you're a tourist, want to go shopping

European here. I travelled in Malaysia as a woman with my 2 adult daughters for 2 months. No man. Never a problem, never been bothered. Not once. We loved Malaysia. I love Istanbul too but Malaysia was really chill and safe. Totally true that nobody looks at you, they leave you alone. That said, we did our homework and tried to respect the culture. Which, btw, is worth knowing. We already left our country and are considering moving further away.
Its a lovely country to visit and travel but as a citizen. The chinese and indians are racially discriminated, different prespectives - my children would have suffered because i was a malaysian of chinese heritage. Could not enter medical school even with having met entrance requirements due to quota system for non muslims. Got passed up for promotion even though i have a degree and relevant experience. Guy who got the position have no degree (applied chemistry in carbons, as it was a oil company, was the bare minimum pre requisite). My wife was Malaysian and was discriminated because she didnt speak Malay as she grew up in singapore. I was forced to translate for her to get her passport renewed even though those serving us at the counter spoke English. I am now in Australia, not perfect but my children who are now adults have better opportunities and their degrees are recognized in most countries, enabling international mobility. I am not pouring cold water but there's a lot more to what we see superficially. I was a PR in Singapore and worked for over 12 years. I left because at 18 years old my childreb would be forced to elect to be either a citizen or leave the country (sort of). They dont allow second generations to continue being a PR to prevent exploitation of opportunities without having to commit and invest in the country's future.

East Asia (Korea l, Japan, Taiwan, Hongkong, recent is China) & some Southeast Asia country as Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia & Vietnam is safety!! Mostly East Asia is more developed, more clean, more safety than US, UK & ALOT WESTERN COUNTRY!!
If it wasn't for the family ranch then I'd be out the door. Parents bought a ton of land in the 80s and built something really nice. It's still fairly remote which is a huge pro to me. Can almost forget the world outside the fence exists.

Malaysia is a super nice place with down to earth people. It is the politicians who are riding on the religion of Islam and making a certain percentage of the population radicalized. We even have a term for these religion riders: "penunggang agama" 😂. As long as you are polite to everyone and ask nicely, your errands will run smoothly. As a Christian evangelist, though, I have to exercise caution whenever share the Gospel of Jesus to my Malay friends, because it is illegal under the law to proselytize to Muslims. A pastor (Raymond Koh) has been abducted by the deep state for publicly preaching the Christian Gospel to Malays. But if you're just here for business and not Gospel, then no problems at all.
Left the United States in early 2014, me 45, my husband 60, and son 13, for Costa Rica and have never looked back. We have been happier than ever, and such a level of peace that my health care is taken care of and won't bankrupt us. We started in a mountainous region, and when mold became an issue for me, we just picked up and moved to the coast, not something you could do in the united states, picking up and moving just for health reasons is financially nearly impossible.

There is no future in the US. I'm homeless, I have a job, i dont do drugs, i dont drink, and dont even smoke anymore. I ended up in this situation due to a non renewal on my lease because my roommate and I fell behind on rent once, and then twice because they kept rent hiking. I was in this situation once before for two long years trying to get into said apartment that was later lost. No matter what i do, or how hard i work, there is no stability. Just about everyone I know is struggling severely, in there own ways living on the edge of ending up out here with me. I cant shake the feeling that this is going to be a cycle. I would leave the US in a heartbeat if I could afford to, and i think im going to seriously consider just staying in my situation, saving money and leaving the country. Its very time consuming to get a passport ive learned, up to two years.

A lot of Indians aspire to move to the USA as students and then try to get H1B to live the American dream. But the last few years are the first time I'm witnessing so many of them choose to come back and settle here. Even my cousin returned last week after 6 years there.

It's honestly odd to hear Malaysia spoken in such glowing terms because Malaysians are often very down/negative about the country's prospects and value etc. But having lived abroad a few years, I have to say we take a lot of things for granted. I don't anymore.
As a b40 who is full time housewife, yes we Malaysian earned less but we also have great products and services produced locally at lower prices.. My family live comfortably in KL with small income. If you discount the gun violence that occurs within the inner major cities mainly within the black community, our levels of gun violence falls to that of Switzerland. U.S. is extremely safe if you stay out of the inner city ghettos. I don’t know why anyone would want to visit US major cities anyways. There’s nothing charming about them. I think the city's are amazing. I loved so many places to see in NYC next month September we are off to Washington DC for 10days and I'm so excited to see so many attractions there. So many beautiful places all across America.
You're missing the whole point here, of course you can leave the US, but you have to make money in the US BEFORE leaving. If you go outside without money will probably end up living in a slum in Bangkok, Manila,or even Dubai, not to mention slums in Mexico or Brazil, and, believe me, those slums are 100 times worse than slums in NYC or SF. If you already have the money or you're retired, then you can live in the good places of these countries, if so, go ahead, you'll have a great time.
I have loved America since I was a teenager and I came at age 19 from England. I always believed the spin that the US was the greatest country, that they were always helping other nations get freedom and democracy. It was all a lie. The list of wars, invasions, regime changes, occupations is staggering. The evil democrat party woke me up and now I find I can't live here anymore. A broken heart is not easy to cope with. I know my home country is just as bad, they follow along regardless. It is better to look for a more tolerant and peaceful country to spend the rest of my life in. I would live in Russia but not sure I can learn the language at this point. I am in my early 70's. The cost of living here is way over the heads of ordinary people and seniors are forgotten completely. Illegals are given more money to live on than the average retiree. What a sad decline.

But it’s better to ask those foreigners who already live here. Here on UA-cam, type something like Canadians or Americans or Australians in Russia. You will get a lot of information from them.
Would suggest learning enough of the language to achieve daily tasks. Duolingo app is free, there was/is a free RT course and someone's website with answers to RT course questions. Then could visit for a month or so to see if it meets expectations.
Its very interesting that perspective of what my grand father had of US and what me and dad have now. I am from Pakistan and we used to think of US we think of the Ford, Henry Fonda, Frank Sinatra, Hollywood, Cowboys and land of dreams. Even if you’re not a millionaire, life overseas (outside America) is more intriguing, lots of different cultures, foods and experiences to try. Why not travel and figure out where to live and work, if you can? I grew up up overseas as an American. I lived in Libya when Ghadaffi took power. We stayed for three more years before my dad decided to leave (government was nationalizing the oil biz). We moved to Europe until I was college age, then Houston. Living overseas is an experience I would value as an educational opportunity and experience and I plan to “retire” overseas likely in Europe. I plan to travel to more parts of the world too but my interests are largely more European centered. Taxes are less on housing and rates are cheaper, even in France or Italy. If you don’t work for a living you won’t have to pay the social taxes and you’re not double taxed ( the USA is one of only two countries that taxes its citizens living abroad) due to the treaty in place. So day to day life is cheaper, the food better (by far), and the wine, transport, art and culture is so much more attractive.

I’m in West Africa (Ghana). I lived in Ethiopia for 3 years prior to Ghana and America for almost 40 years before that. Best decision I ever made. Shame on USA for portraying the African continent in such a negative light. Nicest people, great food and sunny weather everyday, best living available for children (able to afford nanny help, private international schools etc).

Is this actually true? I'm from a 3rd world nation and half of our population including me has a dream of leaving the nation permanantly. Over 90% of this people want to move to north America. But it's shocking how increasingly US is showing a symptom identified with the 3rd world.
It's definitely true. Wealth disparity here has never been higher. By most recent accounts, 70% of Americans were living paycheck to paycheck. That's 70% of people on borderline poverty/homelessness. Cost of living has skyrocketed, annnnd the national debt just hit 34 trillion dollars. We have unlimited money for foreign wars though, and it's entirely possible we've either already invaded your country or we have a military base close enough to invade. The American Dream, if it was ever true, has rapidly become a nightmare.

Left the US for Switzerland in 2000 and honestly, it was the best decision for me, the kids and quality of life.
But I think Switzerland is a bit too nice to high income foreigners. I know many native Swiss people who have fallen through the cracks. EEA membership and low tax rates may work for the bourgoisie, but it is a bit of leach on the rest of the world and it has led to a surprisingly inequitable country (even if it is not by US standards). The EU needs to crack down on Switzerland as the UK does on offshore tax havens (including its own City of London).

Living abroad in a poor country only works if you're wealthy and retired, with a stable first world income you receive as a first world currency. Otherwise people would be living in poverty and competing with the locals for slave jobs just to get by.
In addition to that, a lot of infrastructure and high standards of quality exist in these countries because of the first world presence. For example, Malaysia's good health care system is because of doctors imported from, educated and trained in the West by Western standards. And if everyone leaves the first world, there won't be a first world anymore.
As for nomad capitalist, he's never telling his audience everything there is to know about another country abroad.
For example, if you're a foreigner buying property in some countries, like Mexico, it belongs to the government, not you. Foreigners have no rights in most countries. Something none of these living abroad channels don't talk about.
In Mexico, there are restrictions on foreigners owning land within a certain distance of the coast and borders. Otherwise, foreigners can own land directly. Even within the restriction zones, foreigners can own land in a bank trust or create a business to own the property.
Many other countries aren't this liberal, though, especially in Asia.

A large parcel of land might cost you a few hundred dollars a month to lease. This arrangement allows anything built on that property to be yours. And keep in mind, this keeps an "enterprising" Filipina from stealing your property!

I was in the Philippines many years ago. It's very poor. I suppose it's changed somewhat, but I couldn't imagine going back there and especially not to live.

Other parts of the country are not only safe but pleasant as long as you accept that most of it has a continental climate (like the Russian Federation) but have socialized medicine inter alia. I live in Victoria BC and would live few other places most of the year. However, Canada is not immune to nutcase ideas on socio-economic issues as we share history and a long border with the US - the source of most of these metaphysical flights of fancy. If you are a world citizen it matters little where you live but the US and the UK are not recommended as permanent residences unless you are ultra wealthy (greater than 20 million US dollars) and have strong family commitments in North America or age-related infirmities.

I'm Gen X, and I've been trying to move abroad for decades. I finally decided that I'll have to wait until retirement to do so (Another ten years) since I'm neither a nurse, engineer, nor independently wealthy. Same deal for several friends. Between the crumbling infrastructure, poisoned water, crap education, ugly architecture, and toxic culture, there's little for any of us here anymore.

I now live in Japan. I love it. It's safe and crime is low. I never feel threatened where ever I go, day or night, drunk or sober. It's clean; not much litter. Great service without tipping. Superb public transport. Surprisingly cheap now.

Unfortunately I was too old (early retiree) to get hired there for an Assistant Language Teacher and permanent residency is not a given even with enough points immigration is looking for. So I decided not to look for work and just retire outright in another country. Waiting for visa approval as I type and go broke the longer I wait because of the constant COL increases; the de rigueur corporate owned property rent increase comes up this upcoming month.

I've been back from China and Taiwan after 7 years there. Due to an injury I couldn't return to China in 2017. I'm mentally exhausted and despite family buying a condo to try and get me to stay. Mentally I'm soooooo exhausted with the quality of life in my leftist State. As an Independent but realistically a global citizen I'm having anxiety for agreeing to stay. I'm still probably going to travel to Vietnam. I'm short on money but I think I can get by and still pay the minor fees I'm responsible for in America.

I'm Brazilian and I noticed this phenomenon recently. More and more Americans are moving here and we're like "What? Why are you here?" and what all of them say is that, despite the numbers, violence in big cities is similar, the food is better, but the main reason is free healthcare. To us, Brazilians, our healthcare system is crap, but apparently it's nothing compared to the US, and medicines are way cheaper here too, which really scares me, because none of those things are good from our perspective, but are great from an American perspective. It's been a shock, because Hollywood always sold the idea of American Dream, but XXI seams like US is only good for the rich or if you're a tourist, want to go shopping

European here. I travelled in Malaysia as a woman with my 2 adult daughters for 2 months. No man. Never a problem, never been bothered. Not once. We loved Malaysia. I love Istanbul too but Malaysia was really chill and safe. Totally true that nobody looks at you, they leave you alone. That said, we did our homework and tried to respect the culture. Which, btw, is worth knowing. We already left our country and are considering moving further away.
Its a lovely country to visit and travel but as a citizen. The chinese and indians are racially discriminated, different prespectives - my children would have suffered because i was a malaysian of chinese heritage. Could not enter medical school even with having met entrance requirements due to quota system for non muslims. Got passed up for promotion even though i have a degree and relevant experience. Guy who got the position have no degree (applied chemistry in carbons, as it was a oil company, was the bare minimum pre requisite). My wife was Malaysian and was discriminated because she didnt speak Malay as she grew up in singapore. I was forced to translate for her to get her passport renewed even though those serving us at the counter spoke English. I am now in Australia, not perfect but my children who are now adults have better opportunities and their degrees are recognized in most countries, enabling international mobility. I am not pouring cold water but there's a lot more to what we see superficially. I was a PR in Singapore and worked for over 12 years. I left because at 18 years old my childreb would be forced to elect to be either a citizen or leave the country (sort of). They dont allow second generations to continue being a PR to prevent exploitation of opportunities without having to commit and invest in the country's future.

If it wasn't for the family ranch then I'd be out the door. Parents bought a ton of land in the 80s and built something really nice. It's still fairly remote which is a huge pro to me. Can almost forget the world outside the fence exists.

Americans pay taxpayer money for the police but we don't have them and even if they arrest people the district attorneys let them out without bail that day Joe Biden has allowed 12 million or more illegal immigrants into this country and some of them are getting Social Security SSI even if they're in their twenties . that's for disabled children .they're all getting Medicaid and most of them qualify for some kind of welfare like food stamps or 1,000 or $2,000 a month and I only earn $1,100 a month off of Social Security disability ..I was a lawyer but when I got lupus and rheumatoid arthritis my doctors are terrible and if I was taking my pain medicine and I was on my lupus meds and see your medicine I would be able to go back to work but I can't because of my terrible doctors

Malaysia is a super nice place with down to earth people. It is the politicians who are riding on the religion of Islam and making a certain percentage of the population radicalized. We even have a term for these religion riders: "penunggang agama" 😂. As long as you are polite to everyone and ask nicely, your errands will run smoothly. As a Christian evangelist, though, I have to exercise caution whenever share the Gospel of Jesus to my Malay friends, because it is illegal under the law to proselytize to Muslims. A pastor (Raymond Koh) has been abducted by the deep state for publicly preaching the Christian Gospel to Malays. But if you're just here for business and not Gospel, then no problems at all.
Left the United States in early 2014, me 45, my husband 60, and son 13, for Costa Rica and have never looked back. We have been happier than ever, and such a level of peace that my health care is taken care of and won't bankrupt us.
We started in a mountainous region, and when mold became an issue for me, we just picked up and moved to the coast, not something you could do in the united states, picking up and moving just for health reasons is financially nearly impossible.
Ive been ready to move, but my lovely red white blue blooded husbanded thinks US is the best place on earth if not for the democrats....yea like thats the problem.... my main reason is i have two young kids and safety is my top priority for them. The US, NY is just not safe. Doors locked by 9pm. I imagine in asian countries i can frolic outdoors at 2am. Taking my first trio to china this month. We shall see.

There is no future in the US. I'm homeless, I have a job, i dont do drugs, i dont drink, and dont even smoke anymore. I ended up in this situation due to a non renewal on my lease because my roommate and I fell behind on rent once, and then twice because they kept rent hiking. I was in this situation once before for two long years trying to get into said apartment that was later lost. No matter what i do, or how hard i work, there is no stability. Just about everyone I know is struggling severely, in there own ways living on the edge of ending up out here with me. I cant shake the feeling that this is going to be a cycle. I would leave the US in a heartbeat if I could afford to, and i think im going to seriously consider just staying in my situation, saving money and leaving the country. Its very time consuming to get a passport ive learned, up to two years.

But that said, I really believe that you can overcome your current situation as long as you maintain your health (mental included) and get (or stay) focused on solutions. Sooner or later, that empire money will run dry when the US corporations are no longer able to access and\or compete in high-growth markets around the world, and that's when the really serious exodus of international students and H1B workers will begin. My vibes-based analysis says 5 - 15 years, but the trend is already starting if you look closely

A lot of Indians aspire to move to the USA as students and then try to get H1B to live the American dream. But the last few years are the first time I'm witnessing so many of them choose to come back and settle here. Even my cousin returned last week after 6 years there.

It's honestly odd to hear Malaysia spoken in such glowing terms because Malaysians are often very down/negative about the country's prospects and value etc. But having lived abroad a few years, I have to say we take a lot of things for granted. I don't anymore.

As a b40 who is full time housewife, yes we Malaysian earned less but we also have great products and services produced locally at lower prices.. My family live comfortably in KL with small income. When we left America 15 years ago to live part-time in SE Asia and North Africa, friends wondered why we wanted to run away from America? Our answer was that we were _not_ running away from "America", we were running away from _Americans._ For us, it's all about the Quality of the people.

If you discount the gun violence that occurs within the inner major cities mainly within the black community, our levels of gun violence falls to that of Switzerland. U.S. is extremely safe if you stay out of the inner city ghettos. I don’t know why anyone would want to visit US major cities anyways. There’s nothing charming about them. @vknight7497 I'm irish and live in Ireland quite happily. But I do love the USA and try to visit it there every year only on holidays for up to 10 to 14 days each visit. I think the city's are amazing. I loved so many places to see in NYC next month September we are off to Washington DC for 10days and I'm so excited to see so many attractions there. So many beautiful places all across America.
You're missing the whole point here, of course you can leave the US, but you have to make money in the US BEFORE leaving.
If you go outside without money will probably end up living in a slum in Bangkok, Manila,or even Dubai, not to mention slums in Mexico or Brazil, and, believe me, those slums are 100 times worse than slums in NYC or SF.
If you already have the money or you're retired, then you can live in the good places of these countries, if so, go ahead, you'll have a great time.
You don't have to be filthy rich to leave Murica, you just need a decent stable source of income!
I have loved America since I was a teenager and I came at age 19 from England. I always believed the spin that the US was the greatest country, that they were always helping other nations get freedom and democracy. It was all a lie. The list of wars, invasions, regime changes, occupations is staggering. The evil democrat party woke me up and now I find I can't live here anymore. A broken heart is not easy to cope with. I know my home country is just as bad, they follow along regardless. It is better to look for a more tolerant and peaceful country to spend the rest of my life in. I would live in Russia but not sure I can learn the language at this point. I am in my early 70's. The cost of living here is way over the heads of ordinary people and seniors are forgotten completely. Illegals are given more money to live on than the average retiree. What a sad decline.

@@kristinheartknaan I know it is not so easy for you to come to permanent residence. Now there is a list of “unfriendly” countries whose citizens find it difficult to obtain a residence permit. But it’s better to ask those foreigners who already live here. Here on UA-cam, type something like Canadians or Americans or Australians in Russia. You will get a lot of information from them.
Would suggest learning enough of the language to achieve daily tasks. Duolingo app is free, there was/is a free RT course and someone's website with answers to RT course questions. Then could visit for a month or so to see if it meets expectations.

Its very interesting that perspective of what my grand father had of US and what me and dad have now. Even if you’re not a millionaire, life overseas (outside America) is more intriguing, lots of different cultures, foods and experiences to try. Why not travel and figure out where to live and work, if you can?
I grew up up overseas as an American. I lived in Libya when Ghadaffi took power. We stayed for three more years before my dad decided to leave (government was nationalizing the oil biz). We moved to Europe until I was college age, then Houston. Living overseas is an experience I would value as an educational opportunity and experience and I plan to “retire” overseas likely in Europe. I plan to travel to more parts of the world too but my interests are largely more European centered.
Taxes are less on housing and rates are cheaper, even in France or Italy. If you don’t work for a living you won’t have to pay the social taxes and you’re not double taxed ( the USA is one of only two countries that taxes its citizens living abroad) due to the treaty in place. So day to day life is cheaper, the food better (by far), and the wine, transport, art and culture is so much more attractive.
U.S. keeps printing $$$. Liquidate your 401k (retirement) can't rely on that anymore. And buy a house in Belize or another country and retire there.

I’m in West Africa (Ghana). I lived in Ethiopia for 3 years prior to Ghana and America for almost 40 years before that.
Best decision I ever made. Shame on USA for portraying the African continent in such a negative light. Nicest people, great food and sunny weather everyday, best living available for children (able to afford nanny help, private international schools etc).

Is this actually true? I'm from a 3rd world nation and half of our population including me has a dream of leaving the nation permanantly. Over 90% of this people want to move to north America. But it's shocking how increasingly US is showing a symptom identified with the 3rd world.
It's definitely true. Wealth disparity here has never been higher. By most recent accounts, 70% of Americans were living paycheck to paycheck. That's 70% of people on borderline poverty/homelessness. Cost of living has skyrocketed, annnnd the national debt just hit 34 trillion dollars. We have unlimited money for foreign wars though, and it's entirely possible we've either already invaded your country or we have a military base close enough to invade. The American Dream, if it was ever true, has rapidly become a nightmare.
