Reproduction was quite a tricky game in this era. These 3 queens had dozens of pregnancies but almost no kids that lived to adulthood. So getting pregnant was easy but delivering a healthy child that lived past childhood was very difficult. And these were the richest women with the best access to any healthcare, food and environment at the time.
The Stuarts and Tudors were rather unlucky with their children even for the standards of the time. Many of the Plantagenets queens did not have as many problems with reproductions, and once the Hannovers took over they had much better luck with children. There was probably something in the genetics of the Tudors and of the Stuarts that made it difficult for them to have healthy children.

I just love your videos. Thanks for the educational entertainment.
Lindsay wins an Olympic medal in historical podcasts.
I'd love you to do a history of Wales and it's horrific subjugation by English nobles. As much as I love your videos it's sad that Wales is overlooked so often and lumped in with England. And it's not just your channel. I wish people would look into what actually happened with Wales.
Wales don't receive their due recognition.
Thank you, Lindsay
Really enjoying your videos 🙂👏👏
Lindsay podcasts are the best.
I always enjoy your videos and stop what I'm doing. Looking forward to Anne.
Thank You Lindsay!❤
The series i fell inlove with 💞💞
Excellent épisode comme toujours bravoo
as a dutch person i don't know much about william of orange and his accomplishments(?) let alone his wife. thank you for this!
I just recently graduated from the College of William and Mary and it’s funny that Mary might have been attracted to women! We have a joke here and sometimes call our school “Wilma & Mary” because we have such a large queer student body lol
Not Queen of Demure. I’m screaming.
This video was so refreshing to see because Mary II is often skipped over when it comes to Queens of England.
I visited Ireland last month and was surprised at how popular King William of Orange was there. Statues, battle locations, all sorts of commemoration. Mary isn’t mentioned at all. It was weird. I guess I’ve come at history from a more English perspective (although I’m 🇺🇸) so it was very interesting to see that Ireland sees it differently.
I'm Looking Forward To Queen Anne!!! Has Lindsay Done A Video On Sophia,Electress Of Hanover? She's The Ancestral Matriarch Of The UK's Current Royal Family!!!
Love your videos ❤ I have an idea for an episode, the history of music and dance.
Excellent video
Thank you Lindsay
I never knew that Queen Anne Had a Sister until this video I’m well Educated Thank you Lindsay💙❤️
Mary II is one of the few English queens regnant I have not read a biograpy of, so I found this very informative and interesting. Overall, I think she appears to have been a good monarch and it is sad that she passed so young at 32 years.
Thank you for making the video of mary ii i have video requestion can you make the story of Queen anne
Amazing video ! ❤
The palace is a mullet. Tudor in the front, Baroque in the back
Fascinating history
Great video - although at 20:30 King James II didn't get to see his rival/ son in law die on 8th March 1702, as James himself had died less than 6 months earlier on 16th September 1701
Ahhhhhhhh I was just talking about Mary II no joke
Yep, Hampton Court is the mullet palace of England.
Hampton Court never should have been messed with.
Hi Lindsay, I was wondering if you would do Queen Selene of Mauritania? She was the daughter and only surviving daughter of Queen Cleopatra. She also had quite a life! Regardless, I love your chanel!
omg, i love this
Thanks🌺
I've always had a deep fondness for these sisters. Mary, burning her papers at her death always intrigued me, I wonder if she had something she wanted to hide, or if she was just very private?
Wonder what secrets she made disappear?
Probably that she was bisexual lmao
I love your videos
I thought that portrait was of Catherine of Braganza not Anne Hyde.
So is William the 3rd Prince of Orange related the King Willem Alexander of The Netherlands since they both carry the surname Orange? I could not find anything except William the Silent and William the rich, a commoner. Were they somehow related to William the 3rd?
Yes, they were all members of the same dynasty, which ruled what is now the Netherlands 🇳🇱
@@missynie83 I think I may have seen the term stadtholder of Orange at some point. I have no idea whatsoever on the Dutch language but I was wondering if stadtholder translates as prince, or duke, something like that. Just a wee aside (sorry, I have put too many comments here for one person. I will endeavour to keep it to one per video in future).

I love the Demure tik tok trend node!
Great channel
They couldn’t afford to build themselves a new palace because they were baroque. 😂
I’ll see myself out.
Hahahahahahahaha!
Just commenting to boost this video in the algorithm 🥰🥰
Lisa Daniely plays her very well in “The First Churchills,” although the portrayal is a little more mean-spirited than I normally think of Queen Mary II.
Why did Mary ii dislike Sarah Churchill?
You don't really hear alot about monarchs from this time period
I think so too.
Do video on the Mcdonald family they seem interesting.
Please do Queen Tamar of Georgia!!
and they were roommates!
Who are you talking about?
William and Mary! Loved of old! Hark upon the gale!
Weren't they the second? Mary & Phillip were Co-Monarchs. Phliip's reign just ended when Mary died.
Philip was king consort not king in his own right.
Always enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing 😊
