Wonderful amplifyer. In my youth a friend of mine bought this amp, while I bought myself the Pioneer A 616 MK ll at the same time. We were proud as hell about our new beautiful amps. We had to earn the money for the amps by working in our school holydays. We were the Sultans of High Fidelity in our school class .... :-)

Still using it, still loving it. Got it for 50€ 20 years ago. Works still perfectly well

Nice upper middleclass amp from the late eighties. You hardly need more amp than this.
Cleanly build, nice phonostage (with 2SK146 JFETs input-dif) for the priceclass and classic poweramp
design with FET input and BJT output stages.
This amp is on the same level as a Sony ES in this priceclass.

I got the same amplifier recently. One of the best I ever had. Very clear and beautiful sound. I made a review on my channel too.

Hello, I've an A-8170, pretty similar, with a problem on a knob (the TAPE-2 rec selector) that turns 360° and seems disconnected from the selector. I've tried to remove the front panel but I noticed that first of all you need to disconnect all the knobs from the selectors. I really can't understand how they are linked with the pins of the selectors, I saw holes under the panel but I can't see inside that holes. Could you explain me how to remove the knobs?

I got my amplifier with the same problem. Selector knobs have a little screw (torx) at the side. To get access there you need to remove the front panel. It is relatively easy: remove the top cover, then you will see the screws for the front panel at the top and there are a few at the bottom. Then just pull slowly the panel towards yourself. Then you will see how to solve the issue.
