2023 and still vibing & bopping to this song. Can’t get it out of my head on REPEAT!! 😁
This was a very popular song back in the day.
I use to DJ at a roller skating rink.
This was on rotation all the time.
yes! our local Rink "Rotation Station" --- This song was a stable at least a few times a night!
Do teens hang out at roller rinks anymore? I was there 3 nights a week when I was 14-16 or 17.
@@brettv5967 No. the majority of rinks have closed.
80s pop songs are so much feel good songs. They transend through generations
Puffy sampled this song in 1997 with 'Cant hold me Down'. If an artist was performing on the Number one music show Solid Gold in the late 70s/early 80s it was like appearing on American Bandstand in the 50s and Soul Train in the 70s. Matthew Wilder got the call in 1984.
Both Soul Train and American Bandstand continued into the 80s also and featured Groups from the 80s.
if you haven't heard this song, you've probably never been in a supermarket.
Great song. This tune was all over the radio back in the day.
Long time since I heard this song!! I remember it very well, very popular in the 80's, it was played all the time!!
This is a song that can get stuck in your head.
I heard it in a Starbucks commercial last night. But I'm almost shocked to see that it came out in 1983. I thought it came out about a decade later.
We had great music in the 80's . I graduated in 1982 and still love 80's music. You my dear are very beautiful and if you're interested in older man let me know.
This song was Matthew Wilder's one and only Top 5 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the late fall of 1983. The song peaked at the #5 spot. His performed this song on the very popular music variety show, Solid Gold. The dancers who performed with Matthew on the music video called themselves The Solid Gold Dancers. The dancers and the show were very popular in the 1980s.
I loved Solid Gold! They had some great acts on there.
The dancers. 😅❤
Thank you for your reaction, it is a great song.
the hook was used by ''puff daddy ft mase ''cant nobody hold me down''
Mam your are cute in doing these reactions! Keep UP the Good work!love the 80’s
Went on to produce No Doubt’s - Tragic Kingdom…..he did have another pretty good song called “The Kid’s American”
Bonus Fun Fact: He was the co-writer of most of the main songs on Mulan!
I absolutely love your reactions. Keep up the great work 🙌🏽
This was all over the radio in 83, then GONE. Didn't hear it again for like a decade.
You might also enjoy a version of "Break My Stride" by Blue Lagoon.
Sure this segment was recoded in the Solid Gold program every Saturday am on tv .
La mejor musica
Great song. You may have heard it used for Depends adult diaper commercials in recent years.
Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down - Puffy & Mase
Amazing to see with good song choices your views and subscribers are skyrocketing!!🎉🎉 #bravo❤ Great reaction too!!🎶🔥
I think it's used in ads, theme of the song is timeless
Vary catchy tune, and the lyrics are very unusual and unique! Good advice to follow, keep going until you reach your goal if you can! Keep on trucking you all! Goodbye!
I loved seeing your face light up when you recognized the chorus. A little fun fact, the reference about going to China for laundry, because in the mid 1800's when the Chinese came to America, they offered laundry services since they couldn't work elsewhere, not being able to speak English. Just in case you were wondering about that line in the song.
Love your channel but I gotta call you out on this one Angela. The follow-up to "Break My Stride" was a song called "The Kid's American". It actually reached number 33 on the Billbord Hot 100 back in 1984. I remember it at the time and wasn't a big fan.
I respectfully pointed this very fact out and my comment got deleted. Just sayin’. ✌🏽
My feel good song ❤
Matthew Wilder had other hits but this was what he was famous for his song. This song was played in pretty much every aerobics class or workout video with Richard Simmons
The answer to your question regarding who has used part of this song slowed down was Puff Daddy - Can't Nobody Hold Me Down feat. Mase I know I am smart hehe 😃
This is such a fun song; I remember hearing at the roller rink.
Brings back so many memories.
Love the song. It was so different. It was written in about half an hour, and it suddenly came to him in a Flash. You are a stunning Lady by the way.
In the UK its the advert for Screwfix
In the first two verses and their following choruses it was the girl's point of view. And then on the last chorus after the bridge it sounds like he is the one who says the chorus.
Insanely catchy, this one. And such a sharp dresser. 🤣
SOLID GOLD! God I remember watching that show back in the day. This would have been during Rex Smith's tenure as host
Always thought the title was nobody's gonna breakama stride . Lol
It's background music for a drug commercial-don't remember which one-Skyrizi perhaps.
that rings bells that I totally forgot about. well done
Commercial for Starbucks bottle drinks
Great motivator song .. and watching dance was awesome !
Thank you for your reaction to this jam
One of my favorites from back in the day
Much luv ❤
Very interesting chord changes. But man, those costumes and that choreography. The 80s was like bad sci-fi.
Clubs played Shannon late into the 80s for sure !!! And Angela makes it more wonderful with her reaction !
You dance so well . Love you !
I vividly remember hearing this song on the radio for the first time. I was in my garage working on a car when it came one and I immediately thought three things.
1. This is going to a hit
2. It's going to be on the radio all the time
3. This could get annoying very quickly :P
A very catchy tune and a fun listen.
Great reaction!
Excellent chair dancing again Angela! Would've been very surprised if you hadn't heard this before, Reggae cover band Bluelagoon did a cover of this that might be the one you've heard maybe? Cheers Jim, UK X
I remember this song, it was fun
Banger! 😎🔥🤘🎸
I used to work out to this, when I wrestled back in hs.
Great tune!
I was not expecting to see a Chapman stick in this video.
DayOne's dancing is friggin sexy!
Like the little dance maneuvers. Very cute.
Was thinking there should be more reaction vids with some dancing. Just seems more fun.
I’m just here for her smile lol
He has a cool more Caribbean version of this he did in 2020.
I just want you to know that your dancing in this video made me fall in love with you.
You gotta do Kajagoogoo Too Shy
You must be psychic! 😎🔥🤘🎸
It looks like this video was recorded on Solid Gold, a show which combined dancers with the day's popular music artists as guests (mostly lip syncing).
It’s in a commercial today. Kids in a car stuck in traffic.
You heard it from Mase and P. Diddy
Yeah, Puff Daddy - Can't Nobody Hold Me Down
Loving this theme week.
Month. All of May. 30 songs total. 😎
I hope fans of “Break My Stride” remember MW’s other tune “The Kid’s American”, which came out a yr later. It’s actually a better song, in my opinion.
One of the things I have noticed about this theme, I remember the songs well, but for the most part have no clue as to who the artist was.
HAHA, right? You will sing it, or say, "You know, that song that goes...."
He had another minor hit "The Kid's American" that went to number 33 in 1984. It's very different but just as catchy.
Most "one hit wonders" have a second hit that just seems to get lost to time.
I actually prefer “The Kid’s American” > “Break My Stride”.
@@gabrielmcdonnell8699 I would agree with that depending upon my mood.
@@FlopsyHamster That is true. Sometimes a band has a song that becomes so popular, that it is perceived as a one hit wonder even though it had several other hits.
@@sharkmedia5969 It's really fun to go through a Top 40 list, especially from the 80s, and see what songs have stood the test of time, and which haven't. Songs that were huge in their day, even in the Top 10, that are totally forgotten today.
Cute Reaction! I was Actually going through a Break up when this was Popular, so I'm afraid my Opinion of this Song may be a Tad jaded! Didn't Love it! But I Didn't Exactly Hate it Either! Mainly because it was So Catchy! But I Think this was used in a Starbucks commercial!
He had a 2nd smaller hit from the same album, The Kid "American" that song is more synthpop and up tempo.
Yep and I actually preferred “The Kid American” which peaked at #33 in ‘84.
Still prefer Unique 2's dance cover in 1997! 😎🔥🤘🎸
The lyrics are so random 😂😂
Funny song.
Def a one hit wonder. This guy came and left faster than a finger monster.
Out of curiosity, do you remember Matthew’s song “The Kid’s American”? It came out a yr after “Break My Stride”. It did fairly well in spring of 1984.
Super Mario & a bizarre interpretation from the Solid Gold dancers.
Definitely been used in commercials before - here's a Starbuck's commercial for example - ua-cam.com/video/3XqIxMJtjPY/v-deo.html
I always thought this was paul McCarthy lol
This is one of the greatest songs ever made!
The reason why you have heard it before was because it was copied in 1996 by Unique ii
Great melody always overcomes silly lyrics
You heard all these songs in samples put in all the music that's been produced in your young life. There is not a lot of originality or talent anymore.
Don't make them like this anymore.
