Based on Icelandic Mythology. Really cool images. This song means a lot to me because it came out when my dad was dying. I ran into a girl I'd dated a good 15 years before, and it was her favorite new album. We listened to it a lot and she was a great comfort to me during those dark days. I'd love to see your reaction to an older ( now ) Icelandic songstress, Bjork. Check out her video of "Human Behavior." It's sort of wild, but everything she does is that way, and her voice is so mesmerizing and unique. I think you'd like her. She fronted the band The SugarCubes in the 80s before she went out on her own. She's a very different person, eccentric, extremely creative. She really cannot be explained with any words in my vocabulary, she leaves you in awe, wondering what you just saw and heard. Every time you go back and watch you'll see and hear more that you missed. If you get into her body of work you'll understand.
To add to the comment on Bjork, a more traditional song but still out there conceptually is "Army of Me." It might be a better, more gentle introduction.
Crazy. This song was popular on the radio when my dad died in 2014. It was playing as I drove to the hospital he was at for the last time. I can't hear it without weeping.
Wendy Pritchard Weirdly, I just found their music a few days ago. If you have any faves to share I’d love to hear! I like Wolves with Teeth especially. It’s so weird to come at a group and have heard just... nothing about them before, it’s not happened for me for a while!
I love this song so much. And lovely when musicians from tiny nations get to voice their art on a bigger platform. Also if somebody could fill us in on the mythological story they were portraying. Amazing! ❤😊 Love from Estonia! 😁😁 I would love you to react to Kerli-Walking on air from Estonia. And maybe Tommy Cash 😁
OMAM is a very cool band. And their first album is one of those rare debuts that is perfect, every song is single-worthy. Check out “Mountain Sound” or “Dirty Paws.” Their videos are always beautiful and surreal, with wonderful mythological imagery. And while you’re listening to great Icelandic singers, check out Bjork- “Human Behaviour,” “It’s Oh So Quiet,” or “Who Is It?”
This song is about Alzheimer’s. It’s that rare instance of when knowing the subject matter before hand makes it better. Listen to it again knowing that.
The video imagery is rooted in Icelandic mythology. I love this song, it has a nice seafaring quality. Of Monsters and Men also did a song called Dirty Paws worth checking out.
Aurora is amazing and similarly interesting sounding. Runaway and Winter Bird are some of my favorites of hers, but Runaway has a video. She started writing very young and has sung at the Nobel Peace Concert. She’s just... pretty ethereal and like an Elf or a Fairy or something, but on Earth, and she makes me think of winter.
I love this song. "Don't listen to a word I say Hey The screams all sound the same Hey Tho the truth may vary this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore"
YES!!! Great on so many levels. Hope the oldies can give us this 4 all the oldies the request. Teehee. Still love this it's been around awhile. It's So positive: our old & current issues & problems seem 2 hold us back even drowning...for some the downward spiral (fish had spirals) of depression can even lead 2 suicide...yet the hope & belief of our Lord will take through & scripture states we have "guardian angels & angels walk amongst us."
I still can't place where I've heard this, it could be my teen when she plays music. There is a rule in my house that if I have to listen to anyone's music they have to listen to mine. So of course headphones are encouraged so I don't blare Matisyahu and GFV and drive them crazy. They do sound like Bjork though.
The woman singing said the song was a conversation between two people, one who passed and was watching their loved one. The living one cant hear the one who passed though. The video was a witch crash landing and the guys helping her find her familiar.
This song always makes me think of my little brother he showed it to me one. He’s in prison right I don’t get to see him much do to my work schedule. But songs that he showed me or loved always makes me feel like he’s here with me
Love OMAM. Don't especially like the official video, though. All the official vids from this album, "My Head is an Animal" are similar to this one. The lyrics draw themes from Norse mythology in quite a few of these songs. Check out some of their early live videos of Little Talks. Happy, upbeat melody with dark mysterious lyrics that can be interpreted in more than one way. There's also an alternate version of Nanna and Raggi performing this where the melody is more somber. Ragga's (blonde chick) trumpet solo on the original version is as hot as she is.

Lol not really. These are just random monsters. Well the raven is a thing in the mythology but not a giant one.

@@joeleek9976 , Sorry to hear that Joe.
@@joeleek9976 leaving a comment in memory of your dad.
they are from Iceland and all descendants of the Vikings..you can see some of the Norse influence
The song is about a widow. Her husband recently died and she’s trying to cope being on her own. The dead husband is trying to reassure/calm her.
The best thing about this song is saying goodbye to the ones we love and knowing that they're always there in our dreams I love this song.
Always really liked this song, almost forgot about it.

This song is about a couple and one of the individuals is suffering from Alzheimer's/dementia.
This is my grandsons favorite group & this is his favorite song.
The big monster at the end is the beast of revelations in the bible which is said to have 10 horns as depicted here

I have never seen that video or heard that song before. I liked it. You described it well. Had that feeling of little big planet. Weird but fun.😊

Cause though the truth may vary
this ship will carry our
bodies safe to shore

The lead singers said the song is about a couple and one of them has dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
I love this song

Check out Needing/Getting by OK Go. They're more proof the art of the video isn't lost.
I LOVE Of Monsters And Men ☺😚😎😊😎😊😎😊
I recommend you watch I want to break free music video and Freddie Mercury Official Birthday video
Dammmn I'm not gay but damn I like the way you talk (I'm french)
The woman singing said the song was a conversation between two people, one who passed and was watching their loved one. The living one cant hear the one who passed though. The video was a witch crash landing and the guys helping her find her familiar.

I believe that the song is about her having passed on.
