A little torn. Looks fun, but finding out that the devs had a project with almost the same name plus NFTs means that I immediately do not trust the devs.
they are most likely young, fell for the hype, realized whops and decided to use their assets and make a real game. commendable. but ofc waiting for early access games to fully release is always a wise idea

I´ve done most (I think) of the content in the early access in maybe 18-ish hours, depending on how much you mess around. The world is great, the story and gameplay are solid. (There could be more interaction with the party characters.) Right now my main issues are small quality-of-life things. Custom key-bindings reseting, no respec(yet, is planned), and no way to test abilities outside of combat. This one´s just a personal thing, but I also think the amount of active abilities you can have is very limiting, especially if you "multiclass", so I put all the levels I could into memory, instead of initiative or health, on every character.
I agree on everything you just said. I'd like to add that personally the looting felt excessive and the fact that I had to press "e" instead of just clicking made it worse. Also I think the "inventory per character" system is kinda pointless in a games with no multi-player, better to implement a system like pathfinder wotr where the whole party share an inventory capacity.
@@TheChiminguito I´m a loot-goblin, so for the "amount" wasn´t an issue, but yes, there´s a lot of crafting materials right now, and not much to craft yet. (If they can deliver on good crafting, it will be amazing.) The inventory could definitely use some better management, especially for stack-spliting. (It felt clunky.) (Oh, I think I remember reading that they plan to make the stash accesible from anywhere, which would then act as shared inventory, but don´t quote me on that one.) As for the "e for loot", I rebound it to my mouse side-button to make it easier. (Maybe you can set left-click (or MMB) for it instead? I haven´t tried.) You can also right-click to bring up the context menu, and loot from there.
Since I randomly discovered your channel searching for a Beyond Galaxyland review I have to say that is become almost a “ritual” for me to wake up, make coffee and sit down to enjoy one of your videos. Awesome work 🔥
I really love this whole slew of indy rpgs lately. Just finished Bloomtown, Beyond Galaxyland, and now playing Drova... all great. I'll be sure to check this out eventually
i don't think about it the moment i heard NFT my mind instantly shut itself i have heard some interesting things that could sell me on it and instantly forgotten about them maybe if it proves itself enough i will be able to look past mark of heresy and give it a chance
I really like how they split attack points and movement points. That is one thing I would have wanted preferred in D:OS2 rather than the points being shared.
A couple of Thoughts to that game: I totally agree, that it feels al lot like Divinity Original Sin (DOS) - but at least for me that's a good thing. I liked the approach with the physical / magical armor and also the idea of "classes are more like magic schools" ... so that's a win for me. Unfortunately DOS-2 Campaign-Mode never kicked of ... so from from my point of view Guild Saga: Vanished Worlds (GSVW) is sort of a Campaign for DOS-2. GSVW makes some things a little different and better in my opinion. For instance: I don't have to "waste" a Talent-Point to be able to speak to animals anymore. I just can be [a specific character] be in my group and can can talk to every animal.! Secondly the Pixel-Art is an improvement, too.! I can also sense some good writing, that I enjoy a lot. In the end I would say: If you liked Divinity Original Sins 1&2, but you played those title too much: Guild Saga: Vanished Worlds will be a thing for you!
There's little more to say regarding this one at the moment outside of what you covered. It requires "keeping an eye on" and its ultimate fate in development observed. Thanks for the heads up.
Thanks for the video, the game looks interesting although if I'm being honest, the NFT mention did raise red flags. I am willing to look past it if there is no "weirdness" after their early access period.
I played around 1-2 hours and decided to wait 'till the full game is out. I don't know how I feel about some of the systems they are taking from Divinity, I never liked learning spells from scrolls, and setting points into skills doesn't seem to give you stats which I think really helped build making (Like necromancy giving you life steal etc), and although I never minded the armor system much, I do prefer DOS1's CC mechanics. So basically I'd have liked them to try to give the mechanics their own spin, but the game seems really good, if the story and the characters are well written this could be awesome.
Thanks, yet again, for putting another interesting project on my radar. The pixel art is beautiful and if it has the same feel as the Original Sin series and a good story, it sounds like a winner. Fingers crossed it turns out well. I'm enjoying and appreciate your "check it out"/impressions videos. All the best.
Wait. A lot of people hated the physical vs magical armor of dos2? It was one of my favorite things about the game's combat. How with the right martial class, I would decimate mages, and with the right mage class, just toast those heavily armored guys. It added a great challenge to the combat that made me have to be prepared for anything, vs just a party of mages, or a party of swords.
Saw this, glad to see some coverage of it. I was apprehensive because of pretty much everything you described in this video. I'll maybe wait till release and see if people feel like it's worthwhile as opposed to DOS II
I decided to throw in and get it cheap in early access. So far it does feel alot loke Dos II. Most of the dialogue is good. I love the free talk with animals your party member gives. Loathe the magic and physical armor. Would have preferred just armor. So far it's been fun. Will look forward to the final release before I mess around too much with it.
I was very confused by the previous free-to-play whatever Guild Saga and thought this was that. I remember people doing sponsored reviews (yuck) of it, which soured me on this one. But this is not that, and it looks pretty amazing from a gameplay perspective at least.
I don't think they need to outperform DOS2 in story or anything, their fanbase will likely be almost entirely a circle within the larger circle of DOS2 fans.
Love the reviews! I would love to see a restropective on one of my favorite CRPGS evetually, if there is a lull in new content again. Game called Septerra Core. Fascinating world and magic system.
I hate the magic/physical armor system because it incentivizes you to heavily focus on one of them (so you're not cutting throught two armors). In DOS2 that's magic, as physical is... dumb.
i thought this would be trash but looks/feels kinda nice. I will try it out on the steam deck if it is supported. I really hated pixealted graphics like this though. For someone that already played Divinity 2 a bunch, having another version of it seems very appealing. I will wait 1.0 release, like always, tho. Good luck for the dev 👍
Gotta admit, they didn't start out strong with the game starting as an nft scam, and then borrowing heavily from original sin. Does not paint them in a good light. That inventory UI looks almost directly out of Sacred, and the bartering from BG3. It's looking like it's just a mashup of different games with nothing original
So not only did they try and make a cash grab NFT game and fail, theyre now trying to rip off Divinity Original Sin and make bank on those game systems? Def agree that this games appeal will heavily depend on whether or not they can make an interesting narrative
A little torn. Looks fun, but finding out that the devs had a project with almost the same name plus NFTs means that I immediately do not trust the devs.
Yeah, that's a big "Wait and see for the full release" flag for me. If there's no sign of NFTs by then, I'll probably give it a shot tho.
