These videos should be shown in schools to seed the minds of the young. We need to preserve this kind of engineering thinking that Ivan has worked with and developed in his long career.
Insurance companies have killed school shop classes 😢. I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to play with tools that I could not afford, and had a couple of great teachers. One bad one, and I would never besmirch the name of Max Schlarbaum, bless his wicked little heart 😂. Larry Judd was exemplary, as was Joe Lewis…both come to mind routinely even 54 years later. Definitely the best thing about School, have done it for income and for fun and just finished doing some repairs on my backhoe starter what broke the starter housing. Epoxy should be cured tomorrow evening and a multi hundred dollar replacement won’t be needed ……hopefully 😊
One of the few wife’s who knows what an in and out box is, you definitely have a keeper! I have wanted my entire life to pilot an Offy at speed, I’m so jealous 😮 😂 😊. Great stuff you are doing, just what retirement needs to get you going in the morning! Cheers from the States.
The three of you are a brilliant team. It is so good to hear John's thinking as you solve problems--he's a quiet genius, really. Of course, Ivan is simply amazing, and Suzie has turned out to be the best videographer. Thank you so much for all the detail, particularly for going the extra mile and presenting the foundry work--patternmakers (as I recall, Ivan is a patternmaker) and foundrymen are the unsung heroes of mechanical artistry.
Certainly "Not vandals!" It will live again for what it was meant for, instead of being some deteriorating museum piece. The fact that it is not original is not something that started with Ivan! No doubt the car's history has been fascinating and the modifications over the decades are all part of history that makes this car "Authentic." Not some car that never developed over time with use. Like old houses, the important thing is that the changes are sympathetic! And this is! Thanks and best wishes from George
Doing the chassis mod reminded me of visiting an engine builder in the eighties. When we walked into the workshop, we were met with loud expletives and the engine builder standing on a DFV block installing new liners with the aid of a sledge hammer.. ...
What a fantastic video. All the elements to stir a petrolhead into watching. Great work John, you are an excellent machinist problem solver. It normally only takes two to Tango, but you guys prove that three is better.
John does a wonderful job Bodgeing the parts together to make a race car. Ivan is the idea Man dreaming everything up im sure he sees the project finished in his mind before the job starts. Great content
Thank you one and all! Terrific episode, enjoyed the comparison of John working away on the casting in the shop, Ivan laying about in Portimão!!!! Nice video add from Kingfisher as well Cheers, Paul 🤓
Great Job on the bell housing. It looks like it was always there. You guys are really using your skills to make a fine racing car. When you're done, it will look like how it should have been built all along.
WOW this is top drawer engineering when your finished its going to be one hell of a car Thank you the intrepid three Keep safe loved the video Thank you all.
Beautiful casting work! I can only imagine the guys building these frames back in the late-1930s through the 1950s. Most of the midgets that ran around here were Kurtis Kraft. They really did not make thousands of these cars. I will get my Offenhauser book out and see how many of these engines they actually built. Some midgets were powered by 60 series Flathead Ford engines. I knew a guy who had one for a while
Good Evening Team. That's displaying great engineering skills and carried out to last forever. I'm sure all that view this link would appreciate Your understanding. Regards from WLG NZL
well there you go good ol Suzy got john making his own videos now too well done Jon , i can see Ivan is going to as my dad used to say get a thick ear in a minute great work one and all
Always enjoy seeing the thought processes in your fabrications. It’s coming Along nicely. Be intersting to see this running with an actual starter and gearbox. Having a push start and an in and out box is a pain But was all that was needed for its original intent.
That's a really lightweight frame on the car. It must have been scary dicing in a big pack of them all running serious Offys. Brave men. I've toyed with building a fake one using an Alfa twin cam.
This channel is getting better and better. I'm amazed you only have 24.5K subscribers. I have an idea for other videos Ivan which would interact with your viewers/subscribers. I shall send you an e-mail Ivan. Well done John and Suzy too
When I started fiddling with cars in the early 70s the thought of welding aluminium was a nightmare. Now with easily accessible mig and tig it seems a breeze.
Nice work 😀👍... Maybe I didn't see it correctly but shouldn't the bearing on the input shaft be a open bearing do the gearbox oil can lubricate the bearing and the oil can come away fron the oilseal ?.... It looked like the bearing still had the dust cover/ grease cover on both sides . Thanks again for sharing this excellent video on this beautiful project 👍😀
I was getting worried when Ivan was considering turning the starter motor round against the block. Wouldn’t it be trying to spin the engine backwards? Love watching this work. Makes me realise what the amateur specials’ builders were up against with kits for Austin’s and Fords in the nineteen sixties. No wonder they were so often abandoned.
Why not lengthen the cockpit area? Back in the day, several KK midgets were stretched into sprint cars by lengthening the cockpit and the hood. Makes a more pleasing look as well as giving the driver more room. A set of period correct drum brakes for a midget were put on sale in the US last week.
Guaranteed entry if they run the American car day again, it not there's the classic themed events. You know the VSCC brigade well, do a bit of arm twisting🙂 for their event
Does Hilda Ogden know you have her geese flying on your workshop wall Ivan? And please could we have a backgrounder on John the magician? Fantastic episode, as usual.
John is becoming a TV star as well as an engineering star! Great work team.

We had engineering craft studies when I was a lad.😂 ua-cam.com/play/PL8-vKSlkh6GCSoq5SeNyyUxcHssCePWyc.html&si=ZENATwfNsfbRCztX

That's a wonderful comment! Preserve an art!
I owned this car in the 1970's. I can see parts I built or had built back in those days. Best of luck with your mods :-)
amazing!!
Maybe you could drive it again with a famous engine! Would not that be cool 😊
It is one of the best but the most undersubscribed UA-cam motoring channels! Great to see British engineering companies at work!

Amazing work on the casting John 👍👍👍👍
Great casting. Especially the old boy
Ivan and John seem to be putting an increasing amount of these health and safety specials out 👍
Absolutely …
Nice to see John, the quiet genius at work.
You could machine out the pattern piece as a template to see if it will work.
What a fantastic video. All the elements to stir a petrolhead into watching. Great work John, you are an excellent machinist problem solver. It normally only takes two to Tango, but you guys prove that three is better.
Great was looking forward to the next instalment of the midget.
I absolutely love this channel, it stirs every single one of my passions and emotions. That bell housing is a work of art.
Ivan and 'old' John. I could watch them all day.
Ivan says….”something about changing our minds”……wonderful show!
Another great video good to hear John talking through bell housing machining
Superb as always. Proper engineering as it should be done. Made up as you go along, no computer aided nonsense, just skill and perseverance.
Another fantastic episode, thank you so much for sharing. Thank you Suzi for a great job on the camera and putting up with Ivan’s cheeky comments. 😂
John does a wonderful job Bodgeing the parts together to make a race car. Ivan is the idea Man dreaming everything up im sure he sees the project finished in his mind before the job starts. Great content
Fantastic Suzy, thais is the ideal length & format for these 'working it all out' videos. Thank you!
Thank you one and all! Terrific episode, enjoyed the comparison of John working away on the casting in the shop, Ivan laying about in Portimão!!!! Nice video add from Kingfisher as well Cheers, Paul 🤓
I bet those lads were good at doing Sandcastles on the beach when they were young.
Life begins at 70 Ivan, look at you with a fast car and young fast bird. Keep it up.
Who else needs a Sussie in their life !! ??
She is simply outstanding. I would love to find a lady like her but they are nowhere to be found in this part of the USA.
Superb. Keep it up. Smiling Bugatti. Now there's something to ponder.
Great Job on the bell housing. It looks like it was always there. You guys are really using your skills to make a fine racing car. When you're done, it will look like how it should have been built all along.
Hi Ivan u are so lucky to have john , nothing seems to fox him , another great episode, love suzy too , stop giving her stick Ivan
Great teamwork, it's great to see the fabrication process, and it will be wondeful to see this piece of history back on a track! thanks!
Great work with the fly-cutter, John!
AHHH yes Ivan slugging the old chassis 😝 ! America approves , at least us car people down in old New Orleans 😎🏁🦨🏁
Loved the foundry bit. It will look great when it is finished.
Got to watch that casting again
No vandals ever stood on the workbench with a maul. I love you guys. 😂
Great to see your process from form to foundry to functional part.
WOW this is top drawer engineering when your finished its going to be one hell of a car Thank you the intrepid three Keep safe loved the video Thank you all.
Another wonderful "Shed Racing video" and the knowledge of John and Ivan is amazing! Thanks for the video Susie. Alberta Canada Cheers!

Good to see the chassis extension and clutch housing - looks much more practical - and now there's plenty of room for the supercharger !
Thank again just brilliant with special mention to John, very talented guy.
Dear Ivan another fantastic episode of shed racing iam totally addicted ! , best of luck with everything you and John and Suzy do .
An avid fan .
Good Evening Team. That's displaying great engineering skills and carried out to last forever. I'm sure all that view this link would appreciate Your understanding. Regards from WLG NZL
A great session at Ivan's. Most enyoyable.
I clicked like immediately, just based on just the thumbnail picture: Ivan wielding a nasty-looking sledgehammer from the top of the bench - classic!
Thank you so much Ivan,John and Suzie. Entertainment and Education Shed style. Wonderful.
This look into how racers are made was Amazing!
Cheers From California 😎
When I nod my head you hit it... great video. Cheers
Thanks for another fantastic time in the shed! Cheers
good to see the swing press in action
well there you go good ol Suzy got john making his own videos now too well done Jon , i can see Ivan is going to as my dad used to say get a thick ear in a minute great work one and all

Visions of greatness shared. Thank you

I've toyed with building a fake one using an Alfa twin cam.
You can do a lot with a hammer.I have set up whole production lines accurately with such adjustment. The Victorians were very good with it!
What a cool channel! Love everything about these videos, from the charming british banter to learning about vintage racing cars.
This channel is getting better and better. I'm amazed you only have 24.5K subscribers. I have an idea for other videos Ivan which would interact with your viewers/subscribers. I shall send you an e-mail Ivan. Well done John and Suzy too
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Congratulations on your promotion to a speaking part, John.
Even a bit of add lib ..
"7" 😂😂😂
Don’t you listen to them Ivan, your no vandal 😁 you and John should be knighted for services to the love of motor vehicles 👍
This was a load of work, but I only saw John, Ivan, and Susie having fun!
Greatness! Showing us all how its done! Dom get yourself down there
love this build!
cool to see the carsting process
great stuff Ivan and all, by the way that sledge hammer looks remarkably like a hot chisel
I have seen an old conrod used for the front engine mount.
When I started fiddling with cars in the early 70s the thought of welding aluminium was a nightmare. Now with easily accessible mig and tig it seems a breeze.
We used to have a small machine shop where i worked. On nights I'd skive off to machine Nylotron for bushes for my rally car.
Err, x rated this episode? Ivan with his chopper out and Suzzie talking about his 6”s🤣. All good stuff. Loving the progress!
Pure Gold
Gotta love using a splitting maul for a sledge.kinda like matts offroad using claw hammers to werk on cars
16:20 there a'int 2 points the same on that c*"t....well said John🤣
Nice work 😀👍...

👍🇦🇺Ivan with a sledge hammer! Crickey.

Love watching this work.

Ivan on the beach! while the staff gets on with it. Lol.
Wonderful
I was watching this, and i was thinking, suppose that clutch explodes !!! Imagine what it would do to your foot !!!!!
John is the body Ivan is the mouth
Love the work/marking out table. How much does that weigh?!
In this age of people being overly sensitive about so called "political correctness" Ivan's banter with Susie is a breath of fresh air.
We just have focus on having fun. The banter is part of the fun.
@@suziepilkington5600 Agreed. Having fun is what it's all about. Quite sure your more than capable of handling the silly old codger. LOL.

When I nod my head, hit it !
Perhaps it's a "Midge" not not quite a "midgette" any more. Really enjoying the build and the cameredrie, thanks.
👍
John, please pass your machining knowledge onto the next generation!
14:43 log splitter
Dependant on which side of the flywheel you mount it, will need to watch the rotation on the Starter motor?
Guaranteed entry if they run the American car day again, it not there's the classic themed events.

I wonder what that shop smells like. I bet it has a good ol shop smell.
Are you going to fit a oil cooler🤔
⚙⚙⚙⚙⚙ 😀
Can't take it anymore. I'm oot.
It's a wood splitting maul.
It'll be even more of a struggle to get in and out when the steering wheel is on.
Is there such a thing as an "original" midget racer? Surely they've all been necessarily modified to improve performance.
who wants to see highly polished stagnant motor vehicles, let them roar, and rattle and leak oil and smell nice
Just a thought but could the ring gear go on the front of the engine? Might be less cluttered.
not really because the mag and the water pump are down there
Does Hilda Ogden know you have her geese flying on your workshop wall Ivan? And please could we have a backgrounder on John the magician? Fantastic episode, as usual.
How does that compare to your six inches? 😅
That had me smiling as well 😄
