    Good news for tiny small seconds haters, I received mine last week and, good news, the second hand is now longer and reaches the tips of the second track's lines but is not yet lumed. The price on their website is 69,35 € (74,25 US $), a real bargain.

    Love the dirty dozens style. This is definitely a great value for sure!

    I just ordered the FOD 70s vintage chronograph with the seagull movement….and I’m excited to receive it and play with it , the same way as any of my multiple times more expensive watches 😂

    This is as close to a dirty dozen with a perfect case size as we’re going to get. 38mm holes case, 20mm lug width, matte dial, lume numerals! Yes! There are other more expensive versions (all with Chinese movements) but all miss the mark for me. Most are 36mm with awkward portions, plus most come with 18mm lug width, come with fixed spring bars, or the cases are beed blasted. I’ve tried MWC, Vare, Timor, Smiths and all fell short… returned them all. This is not bad for $100 bucks. I would still get one, no logo dial. I would like to see one with acrylic crystal, slightly bigger seconds hand, better water resistance.

    I like this. I'd be down if they lengthen the small seconds hand as well as shorten the hour hand a bit so the tip doesn't overlap and cover the Arabic numerals.. make them just long enough to point at and barely touch the numbers. They should lume the seconds hand also as the lumed seconds indexes are lumed without purpose as it is.
    Upgrade with hancking and sapphire and it could be near perfect. I'd pay extra for the suggested refinements.
    Overall, the look, proportions and build is pretty decent at $99. But, I'd pay a little more for the suggested changes.

    It would make an awesome first mechanical watch for any kid

      Go for it, get the No logo version. This is a strap monster and a perfect everyday beater watch. If it breaks, get another one…. If you need it serviced, the service will cost more than the watch itself.

      They do a mean mecaquartz that looks insanely good for $150.

    Good review 👍. The tiny second hand was a deal breaker for me, so I bought the w10 cushion case version with centre seconds. I love it, wears well, great style and very well finished and all for £94 delivered. I like it as it is, no need for sapphire or any upgrades.

    The short second hand is probably the only thing i dislike about this watch

    That small seconds hand is too short and everyone knows it. Why would they do that?

      I mean it is a "small seconds" watch, lol

      maybe the mechanism that supports that seconds hand is very limited in its ability to support a hand that is longer (or lumed!)

    Great looking watch. But once again Merkur does not seem to understand the design. It's not the first watch I see from them where the indexes are lumed but the hand (here the running seconds hand) is not and falls short. That's really too bad. Otherwise, it really could have been a total winner.

    • @jeffreyerskine4832

      Apparently Merkur may actually be aware that the original demands by MoD included specifically lumed hour and minute hands and hour marker only. (Take a look at the originals, several do not have a lumed seconds hand.) No mention of lume requirement for seconds hand. I think if Merkur hadnt bothered with lume on seconds marks, that would have made more sense. Or, adding lume to seconds hand would have been cool as you and many say. The mismatch is what is odd.

    Check out the Baltany dirty dozen, 36mm, 44 lug to lug, box sapphire crystal with 100m water resistance for about $150 USD

    • @Milofchg
      @Milofchg 2 роки тому

      Yes sir, I like that 36mm version with the screw down crown. However, the 18mm lug width is a no for me. Which is unfortunate

    • @domokun938
      @domokun938 2 роки тому +1

      @@Milofchg i would think the better crystal, water resistance would make up for the lug width. given the smaller diameter, i feel the small lug width is quite appropriate.

    I own it. The only problem with it is the very sharp flange just under the crystal. My daughter cut herself when falling on my wrist when playing. Except that it is very nice

    ...... I don't get your comment on the crystal being not milky at the edges ...... that is possibly the MOST milky crystal from the front view that I've seen on a watch review ...........
