If the Saudi deal is real for December then I would expect fury to fight a southpaw as a warm up fight. And AJ to fight an orthodox tall rangey fighter as a warm up. I don't expect them to be top level opponents when you consider the money and titles on offer in December.

The thing is, the Saudi organisations are so rich, it seems that a lot of the fights that are happening there up to now are just a bunch of ridiculously rich guys who want to basically have the best boxers to box in their back garden. The Mayweather and Deji is a prime example. Floyd reportedly earned a crazy amount for 6 rounds of sparring. You can't tell me they made a return on that fight.
They don't make a return but the marketing/advertising/flows into local economy from fights helps. Also they tend to buy entire rights to fights which is what they pay for & recoup a lot of money when they sell rights to broadcasters, so often they've not spent the eye watering sums people quote. Really just paying a premium site fee to fighters which makes sense. Won't go on forever as they've got plans to do their own regional based fighters regularly fighting hence the amir abudallah guy. 2 fights on same night does seem silly, better to spread it over 3 months
@d.b.cooper1 I fully understand the sponsors and marketing that drives revenue back in etc, but I'm talking from a standalone perspective as a new boxing promotional outfit putting up ridiculous sums of money for the fights so far and you look at the size of the venues I find it hard to see how they've made a return from the gate and PPV buys. Obviously, PPV buys for Usyk and Joshua is a given, it will sell, but others have been very poor. You're right on the broadcasting rights as that was what happened with aj and usyk 2. They demanded it go on sky so they get a wider audience. I think it ended up going to bids, and Sky won even though they were the chosen side early on. But let's say they do this "MEGA" fight with the 4 named people we know and then it will have to have a somewhat decent undercard otherwise they lose out on their sponsors who will buy spots on the ad breaks if people don't tune in until the main and co-mains. For this mega fight they would surely need a stadium that could handle 90k at least. Surely it would have to be insane and you'd think they'd be promoting it for 6 months before the event too. Just doesn't seem logical.
Ohh you can hear Bob is on wobbly feet when asked if Haney re-signed with top rank days before the event took place. That's when Bob decided to buy a decision for Haney.

Actually, we're at the stage where the vast majority simply raise their eyes or sigh or 'not again' or laugh. Or all of those. It's pathetic, acting like a spoilt child. There's a clear difference between antics to sell a fight, cause controversy, have a go - it's all part of the game. But to never stop and believe it's interesting is simply sad.
