Absolutely stunning depiction of the horror of trench warfare so brilliantly done in this book diorama. A poignant depiction of a bloody battle that cost so many young men's lives.
Thank you Robbo, really fun project, particularly being fortunate enough to visit some of the sites😔 Hard to believe that all that expanse of lovely rolling countryside & those little towns nowadays, were destroyed & turned into a sea of mud all those years ago. Very sobering…. Thanks as always for commenting 🙂👍
What an incredible diorama you did there. Very detailed and informative. The actual leaves form the battle grounds is the icing on the cake. Well done Sir.
Hey Tom, thank you for that. Thought the leaves gave it a nice touch, putting a little bit of Belgium back in there… Thanks for the comment, appreciated ☺👍
Thank you Ian, always appreciated mate👍 Nice to get the details in there, thoughit would be nice to upload it today, particularly on the subject - cheers🙂
Thank you my friend, Ypres & the surrounding countryside was amazing, still hard to imagine the death & destruction over all that ground all those years ago…😔
@@Barbarossamodels Did you see the Menin Gate Last Post? That is something anyone with an interest in the Great War should see. The other thing is the Forget Me Not. That flower , the blue of the French Belgium Poliu's coat. That's their remeberance flower
@51WCDodge we went to the Menin Gate ceremony the first night, it was packed with people! Unfortunately the whole gate was closed off through the centre, covered with like a huge tarpaulin/cover as they were doing restoration work on it. So we never saw the inside walls & archway😕 But it was still an amazing experience to witness😔
A great diorama with a very accurate depiction. The idea with the book is unique and you have done a fantastic job with the execution. A masterpiece that will leave a lasting impression at any exhibition. Superb work, Simon Best wishes, Joachim
Hi Joachim, thank you so much as usual! Really enjoyed building this one, would be nice to take it along somewhere someday, unfortunately no model shows locally where I live, which is a shame😕 Appreciate the feedback 🙂👍
Fella, that is got to be one of the most original dios I've seen in a good number of years. I would never have thought of using a book and then to make the base cover like that of a shell box, the leaves as well bring your leaf scatter back from the fields the battle took place in is a very nice touch. The Germans called the first Battle of Ypres Erste Flandernschlacht, as iis a German trench dio that would have been a nice touch as well... Maybe the name plate in the future. Very nice build...
Hi, thank you so much! Thanks for the feedback, I made a similar book WW1 diorama a few years ago & always had the intention to try another. Really happy with how it turned out, especially as you mentioned the shell box☺️ Thanks again, appreciated 👍
This project is original and outstanding!
Thank you, appreciate that👍

That’s a great idea to use a kitchen pad to texture the sand bags.
Thanks, think I saw it done before somewhere….🤗
Well done. The leaves were a nice touch.
Thank you, yeah I was worried I’d forget whilst I was there to collect some, but thought it added a nice twist, thanks🙂👍
