I have just picked up my ultimate plug in 2 days ago and I’m loving it! I am still learning a lot as I have come from a Kia Forte 2010 so learning about all that this vehicle can do is taking some time but who cares when it’s so comfortable in that drivers seat 😁
Another brilliant brilliant review. Thank you. Your comment about Skoda and electric tail gates. I have been with Skoda for 13 years including Kodiaq and 3 Karoqs. The Skoda electric tailgates are cr*p. I finally gave up on Skoda due to their declining reliability (as with all VAG). Went to Honda HR-V e:hev and everything WORKS!! Including the kickable tailgate!
Fantastic review well done buddy very informative , hoping this is on the motability scheme by the time I'm due to change in a year's time I'm driving the Peugeot 5008 at the minute another fantastic car which I've loved. I've got a few cars to look at and thanks to your excellent review the Tucson has edged up the list !
Great review, I have a Hyundai Tucson Ultimate PHEV with Tech Pack, I got my Tucson last September and loving every mile. You missed the Blindspot monitoring from your review which is very useful.
I too have ordered PHEV 2022 ultimate with tech pack. Gotta wait another 3 months for it to arrive. Debating is it worth installing electric point at home or just use the local Tesco
Great review. Few questions. In a cold winter day are we expecting around 15 miles electric range in the U.K. as I’ve never seen anything near manufacture claims? How much would it cost to fully charge at home daily? Would you say about £2 a day x 30 days = £60 a month on charging. When on the motorway cruising at 70mph what is the mpg like? Thank you.
Not sure why most people say the battery and motor are under the boot floor ! The 12v aux battery is along with the charger inverter. the motor is between the engine and gearbox up front and the high voltage battery is under the front floor.
Thanks for sharing, watching from west Midland. What is the cost for the road tax yearly on the ultimate hybrid plug in on Hyundai Tucson. I am planning to get the plug in ultimate because it has the full option.
That is correct, you can run the heater on EV mode at the slowest speed but obviously with drain the battery faster. Sometimes it will run the engine even on the slowest speed, the only way to run it on pure EV is with the heaters turned off
Hey Mr bear, just FYI, there is no electric motor at the rear on the PHEV! All the power & transmission essentials are up front with just a prop-shaft going to a conventional rear axle. The battery is under the boot floor but all the business bitz are up front..
I bought the PHEV Tucson just before Christmas & yesterday I had the first opportunity to get it on the lift to have a nose around underneath. Quite impressive design & engineering.
did test drive last friday and was thinking that the heads up display would be really the sherry on top of the cake. also the infoteinment should be a little more up like the new sportage dont you think?
I can’t figure out how to get mine to use full electric. When I put it in electric it seems to use the gas more then when I have it in hybrid. (This is with the heat and AC off) Have you noticed this too?
Why don't nobody do the very base hyundai tucson 1.6 tgdi se connect 5dr 2wd uk review as not everyone can afford the full-spec all singing all dancing higher spec versions.
Thank you for your comment Daniel. Hyundai clearly state a DCT for their non-hybrid Tucsons but not on their hybrid versions, in which it says “Auto”. The traditional autos tend to be better suited to hybrids as well as being a bit lighter. Which is something you need in these hybrid cars.
Hi there Wayne. Not at all. Top up the battery overnight and fill up when the petrol tank needs it and enjoy the frugalness. Of course you can opt for the mild or full hybrids if you so wish.
Also to note. You dont get a 3 pin home charger cable anymore. So you cant charge it at home without paying £1000 for installing a dedicated charge point. Or £300 for the cable they stopped goving you before. Also if it drains it battery and the 12v which IT DOES DO you CAN NOT start the car and you can NOT charge it to start it as the cable you need os now £300.
Let me tell you what is complete shit... It has no capability to pass any instructions while using android auto or car play to the driver display. Or the main display if you press any other button. Terrible. My 2019 Rav 4 was integrated with AA and Car Play. So showed nav on the driver display if I wanted to enter a menu. Terrible design.

Excellent review, I wish the infotainment system was placed a bit higher up and the rear sitting area had more space.
Great video. I’m all for refinement, comfort, and general ride quality.

Thank you for your comment. I’m sure I’ve mentioned the cameras in the video on the Tucson. Such a great feature. Glad you enjoyed it.

great point about the EV part not being used fully. did not know that. well done

Love the Bentayga comparison on the dash layout. But to me it also resembles the Renault Espace in a way.
Great review!

Great review, thank you! When the engine runs to operate the heater, is it also acting as a generator to charge the battery?

if you are going to overtake, surely you would use the paddles and change down a gear or two anyway ? Does it pick up quickly using that option ?
Dave, is this colour white same as the Atlas White? or is it the Pearlescent Serenity White?

Thank you for your message Tel.
The battery does intrude at the back as the PHEV has the smallest boot of the Tucson range.

Yes I agree the comparison between this and the Peugeot 3008
Both very stylish cars which helps make the family suv segment so competitive.
Hi can you possibly do a review of the 2022 nissan x trail please thanks Lee.
Bought one. Waiting for delivery.
That’s great to hear. I hope you enjoy your new Tucson.
Great review, so much better than that childish nonsense Carwow churn out.

Super
To all UK /Eire Tucson PHEV owners........what is the real world EV range ?
Good!
1:17 When pointing at something, please have the camera aimed at the same thing.
Thank you for your comment Bit.
Could you not see the DRL on the other side of the car? I am sorry.
The HEV & PHEV are DCT to my knowledge Hyundai don't produce a traditional auto in the UK range
@@AutoBears You learn something new everyday! Great video, keep up the good work!
soooo can anyone with the uk spec phev confirm that there car moves with the key remote ?
If they have the ultimate, yes.
@@AutoBears cheers m8 for the reply..mines arrived at port yesterday so hopefully end of next week I should have it
@@AutoBears Only Ultimate plus Tech pack.
No sound?
Hi there Raj. There is sound to the video. I did check after your comment.
@@AutoBears working now
So fill up with petrol, and fill up with electric...seems a bit of a faff to me..for an outrageous cost ..
Hi there Wayne. Not at all. Top up the battery overnight and fill up when the petrol tank needs it and enjoy the frugalness. Of course you can opt for the mild or full hybrids if you so wish.
Better than the 3008 - and why? Well because is does not have that STUPID steering wheel.....
What is a 3008? What’s with the steering wheel?
@@BitSmythe It is a Peugeot 3008 and it has a silly small steering wheel which you look over to view the speedo / rev counter etc....silly
and all peugeots are now being built without any parking sensors are drving awareness packages
