I think I appreciate your wish for a person to still be around to entertain you, but we cannot expect people who are depressed to "fix" themselves. That's like asking someone to walk on broken legs. I hope you never get it.
@@steveprichard8723 Me too. Back for a listen 2024. Have to admit it kind of hurts to know two of these guys are gone and the Cardinals are nevermore. So many years already, seems like yesterday I watched this for the first time.
Hi all Big fan of this man and I think he just gets better and better, such a huge talent and should be given more credit at times. And the cardinals are amazing too. Great combo and mindblowing music, new album is dynamite.
All my friends dont know what Im talking about when I tell them about this guy. I just love pretty much everything hes done. I have every album two on vinyl. every whiskeytown, right now Im looking for THE FINGER, WE ARE FUCK YOU, that thing he did with Jesse Manlin. Hes just amazing.
There are two Fender twin reverbs in there and two speaker cabinets. It's basically just his regular stage set up (or, I should say, was his regular stage set up) for most Cardinals shows.
Ah wow heard him first time late nite long drive Come Pick Me Up...had to stop...STRONG. They disbanded near abouts B'ham concert--------PRAY he comes back better. A STRONG TALENT that has so much promise.!!!!
My thought now is how awesome this was with the Cardinals - the version he has inexplicably chosen to reject. Sorry, the Shining is doing just fine but whack my willy if the Cardinals version of all the earlier songs packed more punch. I don't get the lack of acknowledgement of this incredible live group.
Well said. The Cardinals are such a tight, great, bad-ass band. I think I like the The Shining even less than you do. To me they just sounds so neutered, so generic. No comparison.
I've said it before and I'm going to say it again: I TRULY believe that the live versions of these songs from the last Cardinals album (and Easy Tiger as well) sound BETTER than the cds! THEY DO! WHAT A GREAT FUCKING BAND!!!! PLAYING FUCKING KILLER TUNES!!!! Hands down Ryan Adams and the Cardinals are the best live band I have EVER heard!!!! Unfortunately I have NOT seen them live myself.
I have to agree. Saw them in Dallas last month. Amazing show. This album does not capture their live sound, but the album is incredible. Maybe they'll just read all this shit and put out a truly live album. peace.
ok...since the first time i ve heard this song i fell in love with it...i dunno who these guys are,...but...very beautiful voice, very very very nice guitar riffs, excellent song...who is the cardinals and who is ryan adams?they r not together?wow they should be...
Dig the Iron Maiden T' from the album Stranger In a Strange Land late 80's. Big contrast between Maiden and Adams. Dude gets influences from everybody.
I look forward to Ryan Adams' current recording contract ending so that The Cardinals can finally put out albums under the name The Cardinals. Hopefully then Neal Casal will be given some writing duties and perhaps even lead vocals on a track or two. Obviously Ryan is the creative genious in the group, but it feels to me that Casal is the 'rock' within this great band. Pitch perfect vocal harmonies and mezmerising decoration on 2nd guitar. Neal Casal is the man to watch in this band.
Neal is the very best at harmonies, lead or 2nd guitar and I love his handsome, clean shaven face! It is now 2017 and he is in the Chris Robinson (formerly Black Crowes co-founder and front man) Brotherhood. Neal is rocking lead guitar, and still has perfect harmonies with Chris (who now also plays guitar-I would say acoustic/rhythm and no longer had to "Dance like Jagger!). The CRB is a more laid-back, jam band ad Neal gets to have his way with the guitar at will! I just discovered he was a Cardinal and now I'm off to UA-cam more. I very much liked your comment!
I love his constant multi-genre evolution, I mean, this is such a far stretch from "Jacksonville City Nights", it's almost hard to believe. All things considered, he might be the greatest songwriter of our generation, if not also the most prolific... And he still reminds me of Rick Moranis when he wears those glasses.
Great song, and performance (and people say the cards are sloppy live). I can't understand these people bashing cardinology. Yes it's different, yes the production sounds different than other albums, its ryan adams! what do you expect? i love just about every ryan adams song i have ever heard because they are all passionate in different ways.
I'm sorry, Blair. :( "I know it's not a game, but it feels like losing when someone you love throws you away. I'd fix it, I'd fix it, I'd fix it, I'd fix it if I could." How this bell is ringing so true right now.
I'd fix it, I'd fix it, if I could, and Ryan wouldn't a jerk in real life, Neal would still be alive, the Cardinals would still be a thing, and we'd all win in the end.
i like the first 5 songs on it, but the overall feeling and sound of the new album is less than i expected. The songs sound much better live e.g. this song, cobwebs and magick. I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan would re-record this album, if he feels the same way.
Well, he's already working on a new album. And he said that a lot of the songs are more in the crossed out name/cobwebs direction. I don't really understand the appeal for this song.
Tom Schick produced it, i don't know why he now sucks. he produced, engineered and mixed Cold Roses and Jacksonville City Nights, which are awesome records. Maybe Ryan should have sticked with Geoff Johns or Jamie Candiloro
Neal Casal, how I wish you could have fixed whatever was wrong and not left us....RIP, you'll be remembered forever~

@@dianwilson4840 Or it's like wishing the person with the broken legs could be healed so that they could walk.
still listening and supporting Ryan in 2021
Nov 2024 ❤️👍✊🏴🇺🇸🎸
God Bless Neal...He should have had his own moment on Letterman with a song of his own! RIP
The bassist died too. It inspired 'lucky now'
Why..?…you can hear his strength in contribution in all his harmonies with DRA
@@politicalscientist8880 he was also good and a contributor.. the base player, I mean
@@politicalscientist8880 I wrote ‘lucky now’ before Adams left Whiskey Town.. you’re blowing smoke..?
this is diminishing his contribution. Seems to me like he IS having his moment here.
Neal was a genuine dude! RIP
I commented on this 5 years ago and need to again. Such a badass performance.
8 years later and I still agree with you
@@steveprichard8723 Me too. Back for a listen 2024. Have to admit it kind of hurts to know two of these guys are gone and the Cardinals are nevermore. So many years already, seems like yesterday I watched this for the first time.
Miss Neil. RIP to a gentleman
The guy is always original and shows you something new with every album. Very few artists can say that.
Beast mode, live.
Always sounds so good on Letterman. Loving the new stuff.
Ryan is so gifted
Pretty sure I've watched this at least a hundred times. What a stellar performance.
Ryan is so underrated!!Great record go buy
Bad ass!
best band he had
best song on the album.
wow, listen to this guy.
“I’d always win in the end....”
Who the fuck wouldn't want Neal Casal in their band, total gem.
Best songwriter of this generation. plus extra kudos for being from North Carolina!
i love his stuff so much, i got most of his records double. cd and vinyl
songs like this make my life better.
Auuuuuuuuu!! How about a tour in Europe, Ryan? And this time come to Finland, too. I miss ya.
"the best lack all conviction while the worst are full of passionate intensity"
I find that is true with most Ryan songs, his voice live is so pure.
Great performance! Sounded superb on the TV/Surround Sound, etc. Thanks!
it's bloody ryan adams!!!wooh!!!
Couldn't love this more. Neal Casal ❤
Thanks Dave for showcasing this marvel.
Ryan Adams has always been perhaps one of the nicest voices on the planet. I think anyway.
yes, going to see him on sunday!!!!!
So tight for a live show. Fantastic song. These guys rip it up!
This version destroys the album version. So fantastic.
my top two favorites!
cool!
Great live performance. Love this song!

Ryan's on fire
Absolute Peak DRA
Terrific performance. Thank you for taking the time to post this.
He was born in 1974. I totally agree with you!
AWESOME!!!!!!!!
Awesome, thank you!
This performance is insane. He rocks this so hard!

@berkleejam YES IT DOES. Everything I see from him live is SO much better than the albums!!!!

Better than the recorded version
I don't understand why anyone would be pissed if someone likes their music enough to wear their t-shirt. I'd be flattered.

lol what the hell is that huge fender amp that thing is awesome.
i'd hate to be a roadie for a show that uses the amp that he's using on this. damn. huuuuuuuge....
It a cabinet that holds four amps. you can order one from the fender custom shop
I like this version better than the album version. I wish it was on the album instead.
@biggerbigd Must be super custom because that thing is HUGE.
I'm sorry, Blair. :( "I know it's not a game, but it feels like losing when someone you love throws you away. I'd fix it, I'd fix it, I'd fix it, I'd fix it if I could." How this bell is ringing so true right now.

Yes, he really likes Iron Maiden. He's a huge fan of metal.
look at that big ass amp!

A-f’ing-men!!❣️
I want Ryans Guitar
Same dude
Its just a cabinet that hold 4 amps, made to look like a really big Princeton amp.
huge amp
Wish I were you.
its actually 4 amps inside a cabinet
@MattJZ NO NEED to be sorry!! You are so correct!!!!!
you fuckin beauty!!!
Well, at least he recognizes what he's good at.
As do I.
look at that big ass amp
What's with the huge Fender amp?
I love your comment!
Does anyone know anything about that amp he's using?
The giant amp isn't really an amp at all. It's just a housing for his amps. He's using four Fender Princetons in there.
i like the first 5 songs on it, but the overall feeling and sound of the new album is less than i expected. The songs sound much better live e.g. this song, cobwebs and magick. I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan would re-record this album, if he feels the same way.
He's so pasionate and hot, I bet he is such a good lover.
which guitar is Ry playing in this?
what the year of this guitar he plays?
my favorite is Pneumonia
Well, he's already working on a new album. And he said that a lot of the songs are more in the crossed out name/cobwebs direction. I don't really understand the appeal for this song.
you don't like the album?
always on letterman
Tom Schick produced it, i don't know why he now sucks. he produced, engineered and mixed Cold Roses and Jacksonville City Nights, which are awesome records. Maybe Ryan should have sticked with Geoff Johns or Jamie Candiloro
