The parts you were saying were super cutesy were their debut songs, they were an average of 15.5 yr old at debut (the youngest being 14) so they were super cute for several years. Their music is still youthful and bright, but it has matured a good deal.

thank you.... yes that is the word I was looking for while filming... the music sounded "immature" - thats how I came to the comparison with highschool musical. I understand the need for groups like that in the industry because there are various audiences that need to be covered. I just happen to not be one of them :)

@@NeonReactionsPierre yes their music has matured slightly but they are MEN now and they still give them this cute vibe - I find it so uncomfortable at times and actually can't get into this unit for that reason. Even if they dropped the key down a bit it would help.

@@stellp2956 I think there's a serious lack of cuter songs in Kpop boygroups and as someone that needs a lot of variety in their listening I really enjoy their music for exactly that reason? Being on the cuter side and not as noise heavy as all the other boygroups out there rn. But yh, you definitely need both in Kpop

I don't think that you can fairly say that they have "generic" "out of the drawer" music from just the tiny snippets of songs that you've seen here. They've chosen these particular songs to perform at Killing Voice, but there's nothing generic about Dream's sound at all, especially the last couple of years.

@@hadassahalbert9814 I know the different units of NCT very well, and i agree with him. For me the sonds of NCT Dream are more "cute" and "uniforme", they are more suitable for a wider audience than NCT 127. They are the younger NCT group. They were originally teenagers only and would age out but they decided to let them stay. They’re currently ages 21-24. They definitely have a younger style which is intentional and I think they’re the most popular subunit.

Good... haha, at some point it is enough. The nine members of Twice is about the most I'm comfortable with but it is already difficult although I love the girls so much. I can grasp their 3 member sub unit Misamo very well....
The concept of these NCT sub units is nice but this got out of hand imho. Why not just form 4 seperate groups. But thats not my decision, the company has their plans and concepts. Taking that to the girl groups - I already found the tripleS concept a bit too wild and had the same thoughts on seperate groups......
But hey, they've all got their fans and ppl who like it and "get it", so I won't complain.

As an NCTzen (NCT fan) I can admit that Dream leans a lot more on the poppy, youthful, bright sound (esp since they started as kids/teens), while 127 is way more hiphop and R&B, thus making some of their songs, yes, a bit more 'generic'. That doesn't mean it's bad guys - no wonder Dream is way more approchable and streamable then 127, they are more pop heavy and that's a fact.
However, I do think that a few of the songs you deemed more generic often have something more to it when you hear them in full. Glich Mode, Hot Sauce and ISTJ have switch ups in the bridge, and some interesting percussion, Hello Future is a bit safe but wow the chorus' melody goes places you don't expect, etc. But yeah, I agree with your first impression, they are almost the opposite to 127 which I think it's interesting and appeals to another audience, it's okay to not like all groups' music and have a preference. I for one prefer 127's music but appreciate Dream's vocals and effort. :)

You can totally see the difference between NCT Unit's, NCT 127 is more experimental and mature with their music, most of people who listen to 127's song for the first time maybe wouldn't like the song but when you listen to it more and more again their song would stuck in their head 🤣 and NCT Dream is the youngest members of Nct. their debut with average age 14 and their song is more catchy and shows their grown up from teenager to adult man genre and more vocals harmonies. another NCT unit is WayV for the china base. the WayV song is good too like 127 but in Chinese.

2:13 the first song they sing - Candy - is actually a remake song from a group under their company named H.O.T! You can actually hear they reference the group when shouting "H.O.T NCT, H.O.T NCT" at the beginning :) The original song came out in 1996, and it was a very mainstream, pop-sounding song (still very revolutionary for the time it was made). NCT Dream added their own flavor to the song by placing more synths and altering some of the raps to make it their own!
5:22 You are correct. In a sense, NCT Dream is more "regular" compared to NCT127. Their music is typically more "palatable" to the masses compared to the other units, and that mostly has to do with the fact that they debuted with a brighter concept back in 2016. I wouldn't necessarily call them "plain", but they definitely are not as experimental. :)
5:51 Lol I was completely anticipating that reaction and comment because you said the same thing about his voice in the 127 Killing Voice video. His name is Haechan, and he is a main vocalist in BOTH NCT127 and Dream. He and Mark (far left in the white sweater) are in both of the subunits!
7:43 they've actually been taking more risks with their music as years have gone by. As other people have mentioned in the comments, they debuted at a young age with more of a cute-sy concept which was reflected in their bright, pop sound. As they have gotten older, their music style has matured alongside them, and they have also tried out new styles that were different compared to their previous ones. So while they might not be as risky with sound compared to 127, they have experimented with various styles/genres and continue to try new things and exceed expectations!
8:09 I get what you mean by having more melodic drops that aren't as drastic as you would expect them to be. At the same time, I do want to say that I think the mixing of the music in the back compared to their vocals may also have something to do with it. Fun fact: for many Killing Voice videos, groups will have different arrangements and mixing of songs that they are performing. Usually, they will change certain aspects so you can really hear and appreciate the vocals since that is what the Killing Voices are known for. (For example, in Seventeen's KV, they altered the arrangement of their song Don't Wanna Cry and made it more soft/acoustic rather than the usual synths that make up the song in the original so we can really focus on their voices). In this specific video, I did notice that they changed some of the mixing in the audio of the songs and had it playing relatively low in comparison to their microphone levels. It makes the drops less impactful than they actually are in the studio version, so maybe this can help explain why it feels somewhat lackluster in some of their song choruses!
9:01 The song Dunk Shot is also another remake of an older song - Dunk Shot by Lee Seung Hwan. If you hear the original, it is groovy but way more laid back. NCT Dream's version changed it to be more fun and upbeat to match their youthful sound and concept! It is discreet for many people who may not know the original, but it is an example of one of the many ways NCT Dream has made things their own and added their own flavor to it. Not just NCT flavor, but more specifically, Dream's flavor. :)
11:10 I see what you're saying about how drastically different 127 and Dream are, and you're correct that they seem polar opposites in that sense. In fact, that was the purpose of why they had separate subunits. Since they had 127 doing more experimental sounds and concepts, they decided to debut a group with the young teenagers at the time to target an audience that 127 wouldn't. 127 would be more edgy and unique, while Dream would be energetic and bright. Although Dream has altered their musical style to fit them more as they have gotten older, they didn't want to lose that same bright feeling to their songs, which helped differentiate them from the other units!
22:26 Fun Fact about the song Go: this was the first time Dream had ever done a song that was not bubbly and bright. As a treat for the fans (and to also help transition Dream away from only doing a young and cute concept as they reached adulthood), they actually switched concepts with NCT127 for their comebacks! NCT127 dropped their song Touch (featured in their Killing Voice), which was a lot softer and brighter than their previous songs, while Dream came out with Go which had a more rebellious, edgy vibe to it!
27:01 they actually use quite a bit of their chest voice in songs; they just didn't include many parts of those songs in the Killing Voice since they usually belt their notes in the final chorus of the songs (to give it some extra power for a grand finale)😅. Also, I just wanted to let you know that one of the vocalists, Renjun (yellow sweater on the left), was also sick during the filming of this! He uses more chest voice when he is singing than he did in this specific video, but he was limited in what he could sing with his body and vocal chords not being at his usual level.
29:45 I guess you could call it them looking for their style. In a sense, they are. Originally from debut, they weren't even supposed to stay in the group forever. It was created with a graduation system in mind where it would only feature teenage members of the group. Once you turned 20, you were supposed to graduate and join a different subunit. This concept ultimately didn't work because the fans grew attached to the seven of them being together, heartbroken that they would be separated when the time came. It wasn't until 2020 that they announced that these seven members would stay as permanent members of the group and that it would be a fixed unit from there on (no one could enter or leave). Starting in 2021, the boys began to release music with the knowledge that they wouldn't have to worry about people leaving the group, and could then start making the sound they put out as musical artists their own.
30:30 that's perfectly fine! everyone is entitled to their own preferences. Even the fans of the group have a subunit that they may prefer over another!
Thank you for checking out NCT Dream! I kinda figured from the get-go that Dream wouldn't be your cup of tea, but thank you for giving them a chance and still appreciating their talent!💚

one thing i wanna comment about is that, you can’t tell if they have a crazy switch in the song or mixing like you said, bcs they are just showing snippets, very little portions of the song, with the last song “istj” they did 1st verse and bridge part, that’s why you heard the switch
nct 127 did less songs in terms of amount, but every song got a little more time and they fully sang the last song, that’s why you could hear all the switches and all that in their killing voice video
but dream had more songs, but short time for each, some didn’t even get full verses(some were cut off)
i’m not gonna talk about your comments about their concept & music style, bcs everyone has their own preferences and i respect your opinion,
BUT killing voice videos are not the best, if you wanna talk about song structures, cuz you’re not hearing the full song, so the discourse about wanting some parts being a certain way, when you haven’t heard those parts is useless 😄
    anyways, great reaction

To understand NCT-Dream's style and sound you have to understand the concept of the group. When they debuted, they were all teenagers. The whole point of this group is to appeal to fans in their age group. Kpop is full of young groups who are trying to attract an older, more mature audience. Therefore, I think SM Entertainment was pretty clever to create this sub-unit as a way to catch the attention of a younger demographic. Why not market music to a younger audience? I think it's kind of refreshing that SM decided to start NCT-Dream out with more of a family-friendly concept because all the members were actually still children.
In their Killing Voice performance, from left to right, the members are:
    > Mark is the leader of Dream, the main rapper and a dancer (that is also an amazing singer because he is a member of SM Entertainment.) Mark is also an original member of NCT-U, NCT-127 and SuperM; he is Korean-Canadian.
    > RenJun is a main vocalist; he is Chinese (He actually learned Korean as a child and was bilingual in Mandarin and Korean before joining SM. Everyone jokes that he is more fluent in Korean than the Korean members.)
    >Jeno is a lead rapper (who became the main rapper and Defacto leader when Mark "graduated".)
    > Jaemin is a lead rapper, lead dancer and sub-vocalist.
    > Jisung is the youngest member of all of NCT so far -- who happens to also be one of the tallest, and the member with the deepest voice. He is the main dancer, a vocalist and sub-rapper, as well as one of the best dancers in NCT, so he is the one with the dance breaks in most of their songs.
    > Chenle is a main vocalist; he is Chinese. (He is a child prodigy who was a fairly famous actor and singer as a child in China.)
    > Haechan (the one who often has the high notes) is a main vocalist and lead dancer; he is also a member of NCT-127.
NCT-Dream is NCT's third sub-unit, which began in August 2016, and it is made up of the 7 youngest members of NCT at the time. All the Dream members are currently between the ages of 21-24 years old -- they were 14-17 when they debuted. (They will no longer be the youngest members when NCT's 5th sub-unit, NCT "New Team", debuts with 6 new members at the end of this year, making NCT a 26-member group in total.)
SM originally created this sub-unit with the idea that if they had a trainee that they felt was ready to debut even though they were really young, they would start out as a member of NCT-Dream. They were the cute babies of the group who were learning the ropes and honing their skills because they are young, but they are also some of the most talented because they debuted way sooner than a lot of trainees.
The way NCT-Dream originally was designed to work was that the members were part of the group until they turn 19 and become an adult. SM's original plan was that when the members turned 19, they were supposed to graduate from the group and they were no longer considered a member of NCT-Dream. Mark "graduated" from NCT-Dream in 2018, and Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin and RenJun, we thought would be graduating in 2019. (Which would have left NCT-Dream with only 2 members, with the idea that new trainees would probably debut sometime in 2020 and become members of NCT-Dream.) However, SM announced at the beginning of 2020 that they decided to make NCT-Dream a permanent group and suspend the whole " graduation" concept, including putting Mark back in the group.
As you heard, with their debut song "Chewing Gum" they started out with a very young and cute concept that fit the fact that they were all teenagers. But over the years, their style and concept has grown and evolved like the members of the group. Any songs from 2016-17 you should expect to have that cute, young vibe. It wasn't until their "Boom" comeback era, after Mark had "graduated" and the members were starting to grow up, that their style and sound really started to take on a more mature edge.
NCT-Dream's "Candy" on the other hand, is a remake of the iconic song "Candy" by SM's very first Idol group H.O.T. in 1996. Therefore, if you look up NCT-Dream's MV, you will see it's supposed to be a homage to H.O.T.'s original version. If you compare Dream's version with H.O.T.'s original MV, you will see all the similarities in NCT-Dream's MV. Dream's version takes the iconic, nostalgic style of H.O.T.'s song and adds modern elements to update it for the new century.
H.O.T.'s original song is about being addicted to a girl like a piece of candy. Even though you want to break up with her and stop seeing her, she keeps luring you back in with her sweetness and beauty. Like your favorite candy, you can't give her up no matter how hard you try. As you will see, NCT-Dream's version of the song reinterprets the song and gives it a different meaning.
"Candy" is one of H.O.T.'s most iconic songs, and literally every new group, both boy groups and girl groups, learn the song and choreography and they perform it on music programs as one of their rookie performances. I doubt you could find a Kpop artist -- or even a Korean of any age -- who doesn't know H.O.T.'s "Candy." That is why NCT-Dream's version is so meaningful for anyone who knows the song's history and one of the reasons why it has quickly become so popular.
"Hot Sauce" was on their first full length album, which came out in 2021, but it is NOT their first album. They have been producing mini albums and full group NCT albums since 2016.
"ISTJ" was Dream's newest song, which is why you heard the whole song because they were on Dingo's Killing Voice to promote their "ISTJ" comeback.
To get to know NCT-Dream better, you should check out their MVs in order of when they were released. As you will start to discover as you go along, you will see and hear how their style has grown and changed over time. That is also part of the group's concept. As the members grow and mature so too does their sound and style. That is why they debuted with their song "Chewing Gum," which has a very cute and bubbly concept that fits the fact that they were all teenagers at the time. They had to grow and mature into the sound you hear now. SM's no dummy when it comes to creating groups that gain global popularity. It just goes to show you why it's one of the Big 3 entertainment companies in the world. :D
As mentioned before, NCT stands for Neo (a pop culture term that means new-original) Culture Technology, which is what the group as a whole is designed to be. They are a new and original concept and style of Kpop group that embraces all cultures and technologies to reach everyone around the world.
Fun fact: Neo City is the city that NCT is from. Because the group is made up of so many diverse members who are from all over the world, when they come together as one group, they are said to reside in Neo City. Which is why NCT fans are NCTzens and WayV's fans are WayZenNi -- the zen connecting them with NCT (WayZenNi in Chinese means WeishenV (WayV in Chinese) will cherish you) -- because we are citizens of the Neo city. We fans are also multi-cultural and diverse from all over the world and from all walks of life, so we are invited to become citizens of SM's/NCT's Neo City.
Although NCT officially started debuting in April 2016 with NCT-U, NCT was actually introduced to the media in February 2016 as part of SM's new Neo Culture Technology concept. If you want to see NCT's official debut showcase, check out ua-cam.com/video/Ky5NvWsXnn8/v-deo.html. (Skip to 16:00 this is the part that has to do with NCT.) You don't necessarily need to react to it if you don't want, but you should check it out. I think it's kind of interesting to hear Lee SooMan's (SM's founder) explanation about the creation of Neo Culture Technology (Neo Culture Technology is really more encompassing than just NCT, the Kpop group is just one part of SM's Neo Culture concept, which has now morphed into SM's Culture Universe and Kwangya) and it's cool to see the epic way NCT was introduced to the media. The very first members of NCT entered wearing masks and their identities were revealed as they removed their masks. Lee SooMan is kind of known for being a little extra and going over the top, and this presentation is a good example of that. LOL
NCT's concept has always been centered on different aspects of dreams and dreaming, so part of the showcase sets up the group's dream concept.
And it even shows how SM had always planned for NCT's Chinese sub-unit to debut from the very beginning. In the showcase you will see WinWin as a character in the Chinese part of the story, which sets up the idea that SM plans to create a Chinese sub-unit. It just took the company 3 years to figure out how to navigate all the political issues with China, so WayV (originally planned to be called NCT-V) didn't actually end up debuting until 2019. I also think this is why we saw Kun, the leader of WayV, as a member of NCT's pre-debut SMRookies and why he participated in the Chinese version of NCT-U's song "Without You" in 2016, but didn't officially debut until WayV was created. I suspect SM was getting him ready for NCT-V's debut, but everything got delayed and pushed back as the company tried to figure out how to make the Chinese sub-unit happen. Which I think also is why WinWin became a member of NCT-127 and hasn't been a part of the group since WayV's debut -- 127 was just a placeholder to hone Winwin's skills while SM worked on setting up WayV.

Well, they debut in the age of 14 to 17 but the whole aesthetic and style of their debut was so 8 years old. Today they are still back and forth with this forever child kinda thing, and SM is using them to sell tones of albuns to photocard collectors, not music fans. They dont have a hit in Korea besides Candy, which is not even their song. I think SM did terrible choices for them since debut til now.

NCT Dream unit is meant to cater to the Korean audience more, thats why they are way more popular in Korea than NCT 127, they are less experimental but still have that overall NCT vibe with a youthful stamp.
NCT 127 - the '127' is the longitude of Seoul, meaning that they will start off in Korea and spread their music worldwide. They are the unit to be more experimental and don't need to conform to Korea's 'popular' music - hence their popularity outside of Korea.
You can say each unit have their different roles in making music.

When NCT Dream debuted, they were all so young (the youngest being 14), so they were given that cute, little brother vibe to target the younger audience. But also when they debuted, the concept of NCT was to be a steady growing group while adding more and more members. All the young members were supposed to go through NCT Dream and then graduate (like a school system) into another more mature NCT Unit when they turn 20. The group was supposed to always stay young and under 20. But SM stopped that concept when Mark (oldest and leader of NCT Dream) was old enough to graduate and leave NCT dream. The fans were really upset when Mark had to leave, and brought him back. Therefore, I understand why people don't really get into them because they are too cute, but the choice of music style also makes sense when you think about the original idea behind NCT Dream.

Sorry but starting off from the top when you said they’re “normal” compared to the other unit, the whole statement sounded kind of funny because what’s the point in having two different units from the same group if they’re not going to go in two completely different musical directions. Would’ve also loved to hear what’s your precise standard on “normal” aside from the points you pointed out (lack of sudden change up in the genre in the middle of the song or your standard of “cute” music). Compared to the music (K-pop gg)you listen to such as NewJeans for example, the points you bring up here start to sound kind of ironic. This is my input, and thanks for the reaction.

ngl I was quiet shocked when I first watched your 127 killing voice reaction where you said haechan's voice is your least favorite. it really is my first time seeing someone saying they didn't like haechan since he usually everyone's favorite for his "unique/soothing" voice. but haechan really sounds like that even when he talk 🤣 I went to their concert last may and when I first heard his voice, it really is so soft and honey-like????? ok cont-- so I find your channel interesting and decided to watch your reaction to dream killing voice too. I know you already knew about their history and all since everyone is already commenting about it, but I just wanted to say that the purpose of killing voice is to highlight their singing and rapping, not just their music background but i toootally respect and understand your opinion. I too didn't actually really like cute-sy songs but yea this is their identity!! I'm just hoping that you could react more to them since this video is only the snippets. this applied to 127 and wayv songs as well but kpop albums has a lot of songs and with various genre too. so well when you said in 127 video that you can't seem to figure out what their music style is, its bcs its nct style 🤣 a lot of non-fans didn't like it. and some people just know nct bcs they have great vocals and raps, and not really into their songs. and as I'm not a musician and just a casual listener, I like their vocals, highnotes and raps a lot! so I get what you mean as I see that you usually focus more on the music. btw I was kinda dissapointed at first bcs they didn't include a lot of parts and a lot of other songs. I keep on thinking that they should have included this, not that and all, but after a few watches I realized that I should have appreciate their vocal more likeeee chenle(second from the right) is so good in here!! andddd thank you for being honest, not just some reactors who didn't really listen to the music and just posting on youtube to get some views. hope you can dive more into nct!! nct u and wayv are great too tho
and when people commenting that your opinion is wild or insane, I'm sure they are not mad at all, its just bcs its their first time seeing it, people usually praise haechan for his voice a lot like A LOT. so its a new pov for them (me too tho) so I hope you didn't misunderstand

I'm a casual listener of them since their unit debuted and I have seen their growth through their music. I don't think there's any other group with the same vibe and concept as them which actually fits the name of their unit and each member considering their age when they debut

first, I want to apologize for any Grammar mistakes English is my second language.
it's actually annoying to hear people complaining about NCT DREAM having Cute Songs or more normal bright songs!
first, they debuted at a young age so obviously will get some cute songs.
through the years their style changed but thank god they are going back and forth and did not stick with one concept.
they still get some cute songs Like Candy which has been one of my favorite songs for 13 years even with H.O.T's original song.
people kept complaining that NCT DREAM is now adult and mature and should leave the cute style!! seriously you sound like they are in their late 40s or 50s guys they are only in their early 20s the oldest is only 24 years old and that's not too old!! don't act like their songs are made for kindergarten they are not Baby Shark songs!! (Fun fact they did collaborate with Pink Fong in 2021 and sang REAL kid's songs Like Dinosaur A to Z and Baby T-Rex which was cute funny and weird to watch because this is too young for them but yeah cool transition and a nice uncomfortable memory for them they would scream from cringe when they watch it when they grow older 🤣🤣
their early 2016/2017 songs are so cute which are only 3 (title) songs! but not for kindergarten.
of course, I'm not saying they have to release songs like them now (I would be happy if they did) but it's not bad to have Bright, poppy, and youthful songs!
for me, I call bright and youthful songs Cute songs also.. something like
We Go Up/Hello Future/beatbox/Broken Melodies (sad lyrics but have a bright concept and they smiling all the time so it's a cute Song)/We Young (well they are still hot and young LoL)
and for B.sides songs we have .. Yogurt Shake/Life Still Going On/Dive Into You/drive/ANL/Blue Wave/La La Love/Dream Run/My Page/Fireflies/Walk You Home and much more they are bright cute songs but not too much cute for their age!
Even Candy was a special winter song to warm up the cold winter and it's not a bad idea to release a special song like this in winter to change the cold vibes.
look how much fun they had when they performed it on stage they played all around through the whole song they are having so much fun while performing it, The same goes for songs like Chewing Gum and Dunk Shot now they have so much fun singing it. (I wish they would bring them back to their tour list while dancing)
    WayV took the adult-style songs
NCT 127 took the heavy hip-hop complicated songs that have a huge different type of audience.
(which is not me for both groups I'm 28years old but not friendly with 18+ songs or heavy complicated Rap songs (since I'm a Vocal Fan) but I do love both groups and I do love a lot of songs (I said they are not my style but I already like more than 50 songs for 127 LoL which is 20 songs less than Dream songs 70.. WayV I don't get many chances to listen to them but so far its 8-10 songs) BUT they rarely get to my most played List or TOP 5 songs in Yearly ranking usually I will listen to the Ballad/ romantic songs or watch their Live performance to see the dance as well.
so why can't NCT DREAM have smoother songs less complicated so that you can have fun while listening to them, songs that don't make you overthink while listening, bright songs to change your mood when you need to, I don't say that I don't like their dark moody songs like the QUEEN *BOOM* and Ridin, go, Hot sauce, glitch mode, ISTJ which is the least I like among their title songs for me its good to have variety concept which 127 didn't change since their debut only one time with Touch but the Rest are their weird noisy and complicated songs which get weirder every comeback🤣 but yes they have their Own Unique STYLE.
until this moment Dream is a group that targets the Teenage and young audience so thankful they can't change their style to something like 127 or WayV permanent, and if they did! what will make them different from both groups? it will be the same concept or the same vibes but different people singing so every group targeting its suitable audience but again this doesn't mean Dream is too old for bright songs!
NCT DREAM may not have the Strongest Vocalist Duo like 127 (Taeil and Doyoung) or the Strongest Rapper Duo (Taeyong and Mark) while Dream Has only Mark as a STRONG Rapper but Triple J (Jeno, Jaemin, and Sub Rapper Jisung are really good they did their parts perfectly) yet for me Dream have the best discography in all NCT units and songs that show off their teamwork of seven members and songs that suit their voices so much, songs that Rappers could easily be heard harmonizing the Low-notes in songs or along with a vocalist or Vocalist could easily harmonizing a rap part with Rapper, they are one of the perfect group with blended All-rounders, everyone could fit every position,
I watched the NCT 127 Killing Voice video and it was the reason I came back to K-pop world after leaving it for 2 years I was obsessed with it, and it was my no.1 Killing Voice video Group Edition then EXO (they are my 2nd favorite group after SUPER JUNIOR) Killing Voice came out and it was so good (even though I wished they chose more B-sides songs) but didn't pass 127 one only because EXO have much more songs and parts that would show their legendary vocals but they didn't use them,
When DREAM video came out it became my fav they choose the best songs and parts to show their talent and blended voices! their choruses have much more harmonizing than their original songs I have enjoyed it so much, (EXO & 127 show their individual skills more than harmonizing Teamwork which is not bad btw) also DREAM show us a lot of different concepts in their songs that was choosed for Killing voice.

Super Junior started with some strong complicated songs like -Twins (2005)- and -Don't Don (2007)- but then started to make their songs less complicated year by year after -Mr Simple (2011)- they took the SIMPLE style or as i call it the Hakuna Matata Style, the expectation you get from their songs Fun songs and chill songs that have a lot of Beautiful high notes and adlibs from The Legendary Trio K.R.Y (Kyuhyun Ryeowook Yesung) the First VOCALIST Trio in Kpop and they are FIRST Sub unit in Kpop (SUPER JUNIOR K.R.Y), you will get easy to follow dance moves most of the time and Fun to Watch MVs, their songs are like a Desserts, they got their unique style that i barely see any group show it
i recommend to you to watch their MVs in order of the release time, to see the process of how SJ finding their own style from started as leftover trainees with a project with a graduation system that will change members every year to became one of the most successful kpop groups with 18 years of experience and they are still going strong.
Same goes for NCT DREAM to see how they started as cute 7 little boys having fun on their Hoverboard with a graduation system who fights for years to stay together as 7 members and then win their fight in 2020 and now they became that 7 talented professional and handsome guys with 7 years of experience

I’m saying this with no bad intentions, but I noticed that when you were mentioning the “full voice”, you are actually referring to “beltings” because, someone that does know about vocal techniques, actually would notice that they were singing with full voice or chest voice most of the time. ❤😂 Beltings can resonates with a lot of power and there are many ways you can perform it and make it sound unique. It’s normal to relate the sound of beltings with strong emotions, also they give the impression like shouting the feelings so, it’s understandable what you mean 😅❤

Honestly i normally like your input on these killing voices but, with dream you just kinda sounded like a broken record.
I get not liking their music, but from the start you could’ve just said “I don’t really like pop” and moved on.
Because this so called “safe and regular” sound is just pop. You also kept forgetting that this is a snippet of the song and Dingo is normally focused on vocals, so of course they’re gonna strip back the instrumentals so you can better hear them.
Also I did find the high school musical comparison kind of rude, as you’ve only seen surface level of them.
Sorry if I came of as aggressive but I just normally like watching your videos for good input on what you’re watching but this time you just kinda fell short. Still you have your opinions and I have mine, I do have more but I’ll keep that to myself. ❤️

Another comment here to this video stated that my comparison to high school musical is very correct because that is the direction the music was intended for....
So it is all about preference and opinions... We are one fish in a sea of madness...
And quitting at the start by saying "I don't like pop" is stupid because then I would have never given them a try or a chance. You say yourself that these are only snippets and that I can't fully judge them by those few seconds, but on the other hand you tell me that I should have stopped right at the beginning and just said "I don't like pop" .... so am I supposed to stop or to listen to more to find out more?
      It really does not matter.

It only makes sense that their sound will divert from the other units because what's the purpose of having different unit if they all intend to sound the same? Just my two cents

Thank you so much... yea and that is ok. I had no idea what this group was about - whether concept nor music, nothing. This was literally my first time hearing anything from them and I just didn't like it. I said nothing about anybody having to sound the same... viewers of my channel told me to watch the nct 127 and nct dream on killing voice... and there I was.
This was not my thing and thats what I said. It is not bad music - it is just not for me.
I've been playing guitar and singing for around 40 years now, have done my share of composing for various instruments and from that experience I must say this was very basic music. In western pop music you have the ten thousand songs with the three same chords in the same order just with a slight different melody on top and they are also what I call "generic" because in the end they are the same with slight variations. I felt the same here and it was a simple kpop recipe with fresh, cute vocals, rinse and repeat ... but nothing much out of the ordinary.
Its good that we all have different opinions. It would be boring if we all thought the same way...

In the whole NCT Group, NCT Dream is like the younger group (though this has change due to the new recently added subunit NCT Tokyo). The group debuted in 2016 with the song "Chewing Gum" (8:31) and the groups average age during that time was 15.6 years old. The group's concept was very youthful, very "High School Musical" like mentioned.

I think one of their songs you may enjoy that was released this year is "Poison" it's a bit more on the rnb side or you may even enjoy "Dreaming" which was released in 2021
as a dreamzen I did enjoy their killing voice but i feel like it didn't do justice to their full potential and some of their songs that couldve shown different sides to them and not just like their Growth
Now Ik Growth from a child to adult is their main concept so I guess they were tryna show that to everyone, but with Killing Voice i like to see a group be able to display with talents through b-sides and not just Title Tracks or their most popular bsides cause sometimes they don't give us everything this group would have to offer
even if you don't continue to check out the dreamies, you should check out "Poison" & "Dreaming" i honestly think you'd like those two songs (if you want to ofc)
"To My First" is also a good one for a slower song as well as "Teddy Bear"
"Love Again" is another one, I really think you would enjoy the actual music in the song, it has a really groovy funky kinda maybe 90s style beat to the track so yh

Try to give it a shot by listening to the entirely thing, certainly you will change your mind ;)

Hi!! Thanks for reacting to NCT Dream! This group is experimental in its own way, let me explain: they were a graduation system group for a while and debuted at a very young age 7 years ago almost. Their music were indended to be more cheerful since the beggining because of their ages and also because they were supposed to 'graduate' from the group at the age of 20. But fans and themselves didn't want that to happen, they are really united and that's what makes them special to us nctzens (even though if music wise I'm totally with you prefering 127 songs).
But they also have a lot of music that satifies my ears more. Can I recomend you some for you to listen to! It's sad that they didn't sang those because they prefered to perform the most popular ones. And also ofc, a short part of a song don't show much about it...
You might like these great songs by them:
    * ISTJ (the whole song)
    * Pretzel
    * We go up
    * Glitch mode (please listen the whole song to understand what am I talking about😂)
    * Replay (this one is really underrated but it is one of my ultimate favorite by them)
    * SOS
    * Arcade
    * Rewind
    *Quiet Down
    *Stronger
They are indeed in the commercial side with their music but their audience have a beautiful connection to them and I personally thing that completes the musical voids totally. They are just so special as a group and as an nctzen who listens more to the other units I can tell you that Dream they as a team are the epitome of growth and we are really proud of them.
Also! They have been part of NCT U too, opportunities to show other aspects of themselves with different and even some experimental songs! Please check NCT U too! I recommend a song called Universe!

i think it's interesting that you said that NCT Dream are easier on the ear because i definitely think they chose a very specific sound to showcase for the dingo performance! these are all the most easy to the ear parts of their discography and its kind of hard to listen when you had 127 so fresh in your mind but as the others said; while all the neos have a pretty experimental sound, the dreamies are the most 'normal' sounding i guess. but i've seen them live and their usual songset isn't this melodic usually 😮 they were also promoting at the time some of their most melodic and more easy songs at the time (candy, which compared to the original H.O.T is a pretty neo sounding cover but not on the parts displayed here, broken melodies which is almost an english release, and the istj album, which has a lot of upbeat songs) so im not surprised you didnt like them that much considering that a) your comparison was 127, and b) you didn't really like haechans voice in 127's dingo, which i would say has a quality in his voice that the dream vocalists share. but i do encourage you to listen to their main tracks in full!! the oldest stuff is obviously a little more childish sounding (as they were literal children back then) but their 2019-2022 is a lot more neo i guess. have a good day!

For me personally im someone who prefers more songs that let vocals shine. Nct127 is mostly rap with a bit of singing in the prechorus or saved for the bridges. Tho for dream i really like their style. Its way more to what im used to when it comes to kpop. Since i stopped religiously following kpop in 2019-2020, jumping back in i can hear the sound changed a lot. And its not really my cup of tea. But dream kept the traditional boygroup sound that i miss hearing in kpop.
But ayo thats just me. But overall thank you for your reaction! And for taking the time to check them out! Usually people dont like the dreamies at first but they can grow on you. Hope you can still check them out!

So dream was originally not supposed to be a permeant subunit and a lot of their earlier music sounds very bright and cheery because they were targeted towards the younger generation because the members themselves were very young and once a member reached 21 they would "graduate" out of dream and would be placed in another subunit but the only one to actually graduate was Mark it wasn't until it was close to Rejuns time to graduate that NCTzens spoke out saying that they wanted dream to become a fixed unit because they didn't want to see certain member split up because they liked the dynamics of the members so SM ended up making dream a fixed unit and there wouldn't be any more graduations. also, it wasn't until I believe last year that they reintroduced Mark back into dream due to his hectic schedule.

Iya bener . Apa yang anda bicarakan benar adanya dan saya menangkap maksud dan opini anda . Saya megerti, karna NCT dream dibentuk sedari kecil dan music not alot of taste, but they grown up and the music changing slowly . That's why the regular or simple is they first debut and first song was remake from 1999? I guess (forget). I tahe the points when you say they solid as a group and others . Yeay they are (real life) . I mean the nct dream song is = their life . How from the beginning, when still young, little bit grown up, grown up, adult (now) . I mean yeah i understand ypu say (the audience is not me) i really appreciate that you say about that . They just delivered the cheerfull , nowadays and to young people? Like me, i am in they age so i have same taste to their music . But if you maybe you are musician, and expert, also maybe old? Not get into it and because your intention also from the first was tryin to find out the difference between nct 127 . So, maybe my opinion is you got distracted about your intention .
Nct 127 is like a brother song and nct dream like child and young sound . 😂
Oh one again, you say "this is nice, has character not complicated slow vut has character" yaa its their first time to take a next step in the song when they are little bit grow back then . So i understand 1 think is . I understand the word "music is a language, feeling, emotional" and i got that from you mister & master . I mean you easly understand the circumstance the music without knowing the background . It's goosebump you know . Like "ohhh this is expert" can tell every music . Wow i learn a lot from you 👏

I don't think they have regular songs and on my opinion they're not a easy listening group, in fact, I think the whole nct universe is something faaaar different from other kpop groups
I felt happy when I realized that you liked Haechan's (the last guy on the right) voice on this one, cause on the 127's killing voice you said that your least fav vocal was him

as a fan of the whole nct, I actually find this killing voice a bit frustrating. especially for the title track, they just included some parts like the pre-chorus or just the 1st chorus (which I understand bcs of the lack of time). I think there are more interesting parts of the song that they should have included in this video. there are just parts of them singing together the chorus like whyyyyyyyy??? but regardless I still think they did great with the vocals. renjun had fever too at the time so I think he did a good job for his parts. if I want to compare this killing voice with 127 one, 127 sang less songs so they get to show the switch in their songs with raps, vocals and some highnotes while dream sang a lot more songs and a lot of the songs were being cut short. dream has a lot of raps, strong vocals and highnotes too, they just didn't include it in this killing voice. i do admit that dream, 127 and wayv have different styles of music but as a person who just always enjoy everything that sounds good, i like all of them a lot, despite the different in genres. and maybe thats why I'm a fan 🤣 I just wanted to highlight that both 127 and dream may have chosen the songs to showcase here that fit their style the most. over the years I realized that 127 also have bright songs like dream too and dream also have a more hip hop songs like 127 too, in their bsides. and its normal for all kpop idols to rarely perform their bsides, usually only fans would know those songs unless it went viral. anywaysss I like that you are being honest, well this video is not a good video to get to know them at all (at least to me), but I appreciate that you have your own preferences and opinions. thank you for checking them out

I gt what u said with "regular" Things, since i watched almost ur reaction especially straykids.
Nct dream really stick with their concept, youthfull, n dreamy. They were debut when they were 14-15 yrs, maybe thats y their music lots of harmony coz the voices still not "changed", but its typical of SM music too, if u watching exo, suju, shine, u will c SM music always have harmony in Chorus...
Of coz Really different with skz even tho they have the same ages😂 jyp let skz makes their own music, but its hard for NCT doing it, they can do, but hard. Hopefully their keep growing more n more with their music n can express more like other boy groups, since they r talented kids.

I can understand that NCT DREAM' music isn't for everyone, they're mostly for the younger audience than adults and for that reason, they have more bright, fluffy and cute songs but they have indeed matured a lot, most of them are in their early/mid 20's now and one of their more mature songs (which is like one or two) I guess would be Ridin' from their Reload Album however, the theme is more like bad boys and dark instead of sexy and mature which you see often in NCT 127. 127 has a good balance of mature, dark, cute, sexy, songs than NCT DREAM because it suits their concept. NCT DREAM was a unit where someone would start out in and once they reach the age of 20, they would "graduate" from NCT DREAM and be put into one of the other subunits, which was what happened to Mark but SM decided to get rid of the graduation system in NCT and put Mark back into NCT DREAM. I can see from other fan's pov that they want NCT DREAM to keep their cutesty, fluffy style of music, but I personally think that they should start doing more mature themed type songs now since they are in their early/mid 20's (Mark being the oldest, he's like 24 now). Some fans would be sad to see them not doing very many cute and fluffy concepts but it would make sense since they're of age and they've been doing the same concept since 2016, I think it's about time for a change if you ask me but that's just my opinion.

Don't let the fangirls here dissuade you from NCT pls - NCT 127 and NCT U have bangers after bangers if you're into pop/hip hop r&b. I also highly recommend checking out NCT U's title tracks - among all the units save for 127's Kick it which you've already heard, NCT U title tracks are the inarguably the most impactful songs out of all of NCT (NCT U recs: The 7th Sense, Boss, Make a Wish, Baggy Jeans. Judging by how much you liked 127's Lemonade, you're gonna love these.)
I follow NCT closely and I'll be the one to tell you that their Killing Voices are a very good representation of their sound (127 had a better setlist tho) so if you wanna follow up on the sound/group identity that you've already picked up on really well, for Dream I suggest their Hot Sauce album (2021) and for 127 I suggest the 2 baddies album (2022).

  • @KaidaLis

This is terribly arranged! I'm not sure who put it together, but it's really bad. I don't like NCT Dream all that much, but I do like a few of their songs (BOOM, Hot Sauce, Glitch Mode, Fire Alarm, probably a couple more if I listened to a few more of theirs). If this was my first impression of them, I would never look them up. They kept stopping before the choruses or the the best parts of the songs. Anyways, that was just really frustrating to listen to. I was getting angry for them that they weren't represented better here and I don't even listen to them that much!
