I was in Gilli 25 years ago there were only few dilapidated shuks no electricity or fresh water and costed $5 a day for accommodation and three rice based meals . The snorkeling and diving was amazing back then as it is now. Was completely undeveloped and we were probably thirty tourists tops on the entire island Glad I was able to see the island whem it was still pure and wild Im not fond of mass Instagram driven tourism.
Hi! I must say, as you can see in the video, Gillis turned out quite well even when more developed. That more tourists came in 25 years is of course a logical development and unstoppable. You loved it, so more people will. However, it will just shift to another place. Like I explain in the video, there are dozens of Gillis around Lombok, which are just like you mention. We travel the world and encounter places like this all the time! In South America, Asia, in the Pacific.. but you’re right about Instagram. Another thing is that 25 years ago fewer people could afford to travel like you did. We never go to busy places in the busy seasons, but I understand the world cannot be kept for me alone 😉 unfortunately! Growth in the economy by expanding tourism is also worth a lot and I think Indonesia is a good example of how to do it. Compared to other Asian countries Indonesia manages to keep places clean and peaceful ❤️
Thanks for the video. We went to the Gillis two months ago, with the idea of staying for a few days. We stayed for over a month on Gili T and Gili Air. We’re going back for over a month in June
I love this. I remember being a little blond hair boy. My parents were so good to me. I went on a cruise in the Caribbean for my honeymoon . The cruise was boring but the islands were cool.

Hi Eion! Thanks so much for the nice comment and the compliments. We hope to keep making the videos for a very long time. Cheers from our family to you! 😁🙏🏻
1:14 Hello! Excellent video and where is this footage taken? it looks AMAZING!! 😍 Just finished watching your well done Gili video. 👏🏼 First time seeing your content (And sweet family!) and happily subscribed! 😎.
Hi Eileen, that’s pink beach on Padar Island in the Komodo National Park. Yes, this region of Indonesia is almost to beautiful to be true! Thanks for the nice compliments and welcome to the channel 😁👍🏻
It was Scoot Fast Cruises, next to D’Camel in the street near the ferries in Sanur. I don’t remember exactly how long the trip was, but I guess you’re faster if you board at Padangbai. Gili Gili, Ekajaya and Golden Queen are charters that take 1,5 hours approx. Good luck! 🤙🏻
Best time to go is june - september. These months least chance on rain and best conditions on sea (ferry's not cancelled) If going oktober or later, it can be rainseason. Usually gili's get way less rain than Lombok or Bali, but it can still rain all day long. Less visibility when scuba diving or snorkling aswell. December still popular period to go though. Just expect some rain:') And big 1 tip (especially going later in the year) make sure you have some spare days after gili before taking flight back, been there a few times now (over 8 weeks total) and have seen multiple days/times there ferries wouldnt leave due to weather, the strait around the Gili's can get some nasty waves and current. Reason i went there was for diving, met my girlfriend there 2nd time i came, she indonesian, so we go back there quit frequently 😅 for some reason i love the place, allthough it isn't as perfect/idilic as this video makes it to be. Its allso a party island, they used dynamite fishing to destroy the reefs and there isn't a proper trash disposal system on the island. So you will find huge landfills with plastic middle of the island aswell... but yeah still i love the place :) it has everything i need in a holiday on a small island!
Lovely video !! Very informative. I am travelling here next week...!! Can I ask you from which tours did you booked your Snorkeling trip, cause I am searching online and I am not able to find it at cheaper rates as you mentioned in your video.
Hi Sarvesh, we just booked it one day in advance at one of the many offices on the island. I see that you have already been there now, hope you enjoyed it!
Hi Arnut! The hotel’s name is Villa Rika. It’s a nice quiet place and very close to everything. Cheers and thanks for watching 😁🤙🏻 have you seen the other Indonesia videos too?

Hi, this is kind of a challenge. 2 days in Bali is really short. What is your plan to do there? The boat to Lombok/Gilis is a long way. Or do want to go by plane to Lombok and then a short boat ride to the Gilis? We haven't been to Lombok mainland so I can't advise you about this. Do you have 6 days to spent in total?
I think you Will spend your 2 days in Bali ended up in a hotel room, because you Will feel so confused which part of Bali that you want to visit most cause Bali is quite big and so many to offer at least 3 weeks or a month to experience all Bali has to offer, in six days maybe you can do 2 days in Kuta, Seminyak or Canggu and another 2 days in ubud, 2 days in Uluwatu or altenative option is Nusa penida or Gili Trawangan, good luck brother 🙏
Wow amazing!! What a beautiful islands. Gili Islands. I am Ardin, I am from Indonesia, I live in North Lombok near to Gili Island. If you don't mind.. may I using your video as my presentation background in my task during my course as civil servant here in North Lombok? You can of course show it in real life, but any upload of my videos online will lead to copyright problems, I am so sorry 😟🙏🏻 thanks again and hope you enjoy the videos anyway!
I don't know but I actually preferred Lombok to Bali although Nusa Penida was great. I have been to Flores Island and to Komodo Island. The main 3 Gili Islands (Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air) are nice but there are better Gili Islands off SW Lombok (Gili Nanggu, Gili Kedis, Gili Sudak)
Bali has changed a bit over time. Both the Nusa’s and Lombok feel like how Bali used to be. The Gili’s weren’t too crowded after the pandemic and that’s what we loved about it. We went to Flores and Komodo too. Have you seen the other videos we made in Indonesia in this trip? Cheers and thanks for the comment 😁👌🏻

Nice to see these islands again. I've visited them 35 years ago. There was no electricity then but only a couple of hours every day. It was paradise!
Nowadays every day a few houres without electricity cause overconsumption 😂
It is worth going to the Gillis to see the stars at night.
