      +thepokerking99 well yeah, the producers like to have a winner to move on.
      it helps keep people interested between episodes.
      plus this show is known for having smart contestants...and this is just REALLY stupid bidding, i mean my nephew knows how to bid better in this game.
      getting the question wrong isnt losing, bidding badly is losing.

    • @insaniac82
      @insaniac82 8 років тому +83

      +thisscreensucks It's not like they were doing bad. They all had reasonable scores, they just all took a big gamble in final jeopardy. This is also more publicity for the game, how often is Jeopardy in the news? Rarely, so I doubt the producers would dislike a rare event that would bring them more publicity

      +Joshua Carpenter Always leave $1 on the table in final Jeopardy for situations like this. That is why it was stupid bidding.

    • @f.ence.
      @f.ence. 8 років тому +8

      Relax man. All I'm saying is that if you're going to bid all of you money (like these three did), than be SMART and leave $1 on the board so you don't lose entirely. And I only know this (or advise it) because of watching Jeopardy through the years.
      With that being said, bidding is objective, of course everyone is going to think their way of doing it is the smart way!
      Lighten up, friend; This is the internet!

      +AKenYProductions they gave them all third second and first place consolation money based off of their earnings before they all lost their money. the reason the two on the left both had 2000 was because they both had equal amounts to begin with. the lady on the right had the lowest so she technically got third place which is $1000, and the two others tied for second (and also first i suppose). it's all based on the money they had before losing it all. hope that makes some kind of sense.

    It happened during a semi final game on the 2013 teen tourney. They picked the highest losing score among the non-winners to move on to the finals in that case. It happened twice during the first season with Alex Trebek, including on the second episode, and it happened during a game in season 14(only two players played in final J! as the third had a negative score going into final J!). I think it happened during a 1996 celebrity game with Matthew Fox, Carl Lewis, and Jon Lovitz as the celebs. It happened during a quarter final game years ago during the now defunct Seniors tournament as well.

Though MLK was getting arrested in Atlanta around the same time so I can see the last guy's point of view. Very hard Final Jeopardy, though they didn't say what the category was.

    In the almost 12 years since dropping the five day rule, and besides tomorrow's episode, J! had three new players on the show on 1/19/2009 and 12/21/2015 since dropping the five game limit. Priscilla Ball was the champ on Friday 1/16/2009 and came back at a later time, as she was sick during their next tape day. Claudia who was on tonight's show was the champ on 12/18/2015 episode and had a job she didn't want to miss and the producers gave her a chance to come back on a later tape date. Alex had knee replacement surgery which cancelled the taping for the 12/21/2015 show also IIRC.

      I'm guessing you don't watch Jeopardy much? When you are tied with another player going into the final round, you have to bet everything. It is the only way to guarantee you a win. Also, they're not betting with real money, per se. You only get that money if you win. If you come second you get 2000 regardless of how much money you finish with. There was no point in doing a modest wager. The one who really screwed up was the lady with 6000. That was just a case of greed. There was no reason for her to wager all the money.
      P.S. Ever hear of Matt Jackson or Arthur Chu. Non-whites who are famous for their high wagers.
