  • Longford's County High Point is Corn Hill, a stand alone hill in the north east midlands.
At 278m, Corn Hill is the third lowest high point on our list. This is also the third video of our County Highpoint's series! This series will see us climb the highest mountain / hill / highpoint in each of the 32 counties on the island of Ireland.

Glad you enjoyed the local county high top so much. You always meet a few people up there, and you’re right, it’s really accessible especially in the last few years when the gate and the additional track and benches have been added. Another lovely video.

Those views are fantastic! Makes me think of the Hill of Tara, not a very high place but everything is so flat around it you can see for miles.

A small hill with big, big views! I wasn't expecting that outlook. Shame about the mast on top, but they have to stick them somewhere high, like the wind turbines :)

Guys would ye do a review on socks at some point if it is possible, I volunteer in an organisation where we frequently search for missing persons, we wear a military style leather boot with steel toe protection, they are pretty heavy. I get blisters on my heels as we walk for miles across bogs, drains, fields etc.. Up to 15km on a search, I've been on the lookout for good socks from the likes of the great outdoors but no reviews or ratings on the socks so you can't really know what to make of them. I would appreciate any advice or info, thanks a million.. I love the content..

      Hey Andriú,
Thanks for the question - and for the amazing volunteering you do!
Socks are a tricky one: so vitally important, and so often overlooked. Carl has been wearing the brand Wigwam since 2015, and basically never wears anything else. I personally really like smart wool, and we both have darn tough socks too. All of my socks are a merino blend, I find that even when they get wet they don’t rub as painfully, and they dry so much better.
My criteria when buying socks is merino blend, and then how thick for the specific boot/shoe. If you have some room in your boots (which might be causing the rubbing on your heels), then thicker socks might be the way to go. I’d also look at ways to secure your heel tighter with the laces too. I’ve had rubbing heels and they are so painful.
We’ll talk about socks in some upcoming video too to try and cover any other thoughts, but I hope these recommendations help!

@@ToughSoles Thank you folks for the prompt advice, I certainly will follow up on the suggestions because foot comfort is vitally important to extended walks/ hikes. I'm stating the obvious there, thanks again
