Love this. No one could play the part better…. The line is “pucker your lips as though about to bestow a kiss… Poirot…”. It’s delivered after the receptionist massacres his name as ‘Hercules Paro’. 🤣🤣🤣
Just a lovely gentleman Sir Peter Ustinov was. He was such a renaissance man. His humor, his acting, his insight, his writings were just the work of such a rare and talented human being. Despite Sir Peter not being physically accurate for the literary description of Hercule Poirot, he is extremely good in the role. This is one of my favorite movies, despite having a "made of TV" look about it. An absolutely beautiful score / soundtrack. A stellar cast. Guy Hamilton wasn't the best James Bond film director, and I think he actually did a better job with this film.
After watching this I jumped on iTunes & immediately bought the soundtrack! Cole Porter’s score is intoxicating…. I play it on my drive to work & just smile 😊
Sir Peter is definitely an iconic figure of the 20th century. I look up to him in many respects. He was intelligent, funny, and unbelievably talented! I fell in love with Poirot because of this film and Ustinov's performance.
@@hardsam68They are confusing it with Ustinov's later television movies, this was filmed on location in Majorca @ director's suggestion, he lived there, we see the victim's body discovered on a beach.
As someone who worked in tv news it's likely because the station only had one photog assigned to do her shoots. They also had antiquated equipment and used 3/4 inch cameras and decks.
I love Ustinov's off-the-camera ad libs in the cutaways later on.
Legend. Rip 🙏

Agree with everything except the feel of a TV movie comment

@@kugelwegHe definitely emphasisizes the comedic, right down to Poirot's unitard bathing suit.
wonderful
Now that is a very stable genius! lol
I don't know why they can't just use two cameras from different angles at once...
I know right? However, Ustinov made it SOOOO funny! lolol
