Ruby, I know this video is from last year but I only just happened upon it. I must say I admire your heartfelt honesty and sharing your sorrow with us. My heart goes out to you. I am so sorry for your loss & wish you my sincere condolences. I am a widow and grieved the loss of my husband deeply for many years. I went through so many different emotions. Everyone grieves in their own way and in their own time. So take each day one at a time and take all the time you need to grieve & mourn your loss. Losing your parents is a loss you can never get over, but parents love is forever a part of your heart that lives on forever. Focus on that love they gave you, the woman they helped you to become, how proud they must be of you, all the good times you shared, the love and joy. How blessed you were to have them in your life. Your words and emotions touched my heart & I wished I could just reach out and give you a hug. But, I also sensed your strength. I believe our loved ones watch over us and guide us. That they are always there when we are in need. You are in my thoughts and prayers. This ornament is absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing this with us. I cannot wait to make it. I do not know your religion & I am not overly religious tbh I am more spiritual than religious but I found comfort in this poem that I'd thought I would share with you. Even though I know there are no words that can ease your pain or lessen your loss, I hope maybe this may bring you a little comfort. God Bless... Safely Home I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light. All pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last. Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade' Oh! But Jesus’ love illumined Every dark and fearful glade. And He came Himself to meet me In that way so hard to tread; And with Jesus’ arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt, dread' Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still: Try to look beyond earth’s shadows, Pray to trust our Father’s will. There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand; Do it now, while life remaineth You shall rest in Jesus’ land. When the work is all completed, He will gently call you home; Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come!
I’m watching this in 2022 and I really love this design. I’m fairly new to beading and live in Western Australia, so finding beads is all online only and I definitely don’t have a great stash of beads built up so far. This will be in my to do list for maybe next Christmas as I build up my skills and beads…Thank You for sharing…🥰🇦🇺
The best memory for me for 2016 was getting back home to see my family in Ireland. I live in Ohio and my girls, all grown up with families of their own. live back home in Ireland. I got to meet two grand children I never met before and the best of all was meeting my Great Grand daughter, who's 4, for the first time also. My girls paid for my trip as we don't have much, I have 4 living sisters and they surprised me by arranging to be in Ireland to spend it with me...they come from all over the world...It was so wonderful and the best holiday I could ever asked for...I now have another Grand daughter who was born on the 21st of December...what a Christmas blessing...Merry Christmas to you Ruby, Husband and family and I'll be praying for a better and blessed New Year for you all...x
This s a very pretty ornament. I make my own designs and I love doing this all year long. I also made one for my husband in white and crystal for lung cancer. My granddaughter still talks to her Papa and says she still see him at the dinning room table, kid are psychic and can see angels.
I have to say I just watched ever single second of this video because my mom use to make these, you don’t know how I cried when you said some of the things you did while working that were words she’d use when things didn’t go right, she died suddenly in 2006, my dad died four months later of a broken heart. Thanks for bringing them back into the forefront for the duration of this video, she would have LOVED you, your sense of humor and your skill. I wanted you to know; thank you from my soul. Merry Christmas
Just came across your channel and this video. I was drawn to your beautiful spirit. My prayers are with you from this year going forward. Can't wait to see what else you have in store. 😍🤗🙇🏽♀️🙏🏾
What a lovely design, Ruby! I've been making ornament covers a few years now but never managed anything quite as beautiful as this. It's an honor to be among those in the running for one of these lovely tributes. Another rough year, I'm challenged to recall much positive...a few contenders all fall in the category of finally resolving longstanding issues: completing a beading project I was previously intimidated to tackle, finally getting that feral cat I've been feeding for 5 years to walk into the house, improving my alignment so there's less constant pain, and finding a buyer for the old farm and homestead that's been killing me financially (yet was welded to my soul) as it did (and was for) my father before me. May we all move forward together and find peace in 2017.
Awwwwwwwww Ruby, getting to know you and learning most of my beading is such an honour, the best bit is this year we all rallied round to support each other through all the negative times which others threw about, and of course the positive times too . I will be lighting a candle this Christmas day for all our friends and family that are not with us this year but they will be watching us from heaven. God bless your family Ruby and everybody we have met this year xxx
I lost my 94 year old dad last year, so I feel your pain, Sweetie. For me, the best part of 2016 has been being able to take care of my mom 24/7. I almost lost her a few times this year, but she says she's stayed around to make sure I was okay. Just like a mom, right? Still looking after, and worrying, about her children, no matter how old they are! I wish you and Jeff a very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with love, joy and happiness. You both deserve it after the terrible year you've had. ;~)
Hi Miss Ruby! This is the MOST gorgeous ornament cover I've EVER seen! What a beautiful tribute to your parents. ♡Thank you SO much for sharing, I really hope I can make them. Please don't ever worry about getting emotional, I like to hear you talk about your family, you're human. ♡♡♡ May the Lord continue to bless you and your family and ease your pain. They're always with you. ♡♡♡ I think my favorite memory of this year is the last time I got to hang out with my Pop before Jesus took him home. Smiles, hugs, and laughter...it's a great memory. Merry Christmas and God Bless Miss Ruby!
My best memory of 2016 is visiting my grandkids twice this year. They live in NY and I live in MN. Hope your memories of your patents help you through the holidays & years to come. Beautiful ornament.
Ruby this is Simply elegant! What a beautiful ornament to honor your mom's memory. Sending you big warm hugs. I'm so sorry for your loss. Remember though that while they are no longer with us they are always in your heart and live on in your memories of them. I know this year has been tough and challenging for you but Stay strong sweet Ruby...2017 is going to rock! For me, My best memory of 2016 is all the new friends I found (through you) in craft chat. Thank you for opening up my world and making it so much brighter! Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
That's really beautiful! I'm so sorry you lost your dad, I lost my dad two years ago the weekend before thanksgiving. It's so hard to not have him for the holidays, but I believe he'll always be with us as our families get together.
Loved the ornament. So pretty. I ordered the wrong size ball twice. The first was too big and the other too small. I used the small ball but only made part of the cover. I stopped at the first dangles. Wasn't able to make the bottom part but loved it any way. I made a ball for all my siblings and their spouses. I have 8. I made one for myself, my husband, daughter, son, and grandson. I used birthstone colors. Everyone loved them. Thanks for the wonderful project!
Ruby, thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing yourself and your talent here. I am sorry to learn of your loss and pray for blessings upon your daughters and granddaughters (especially Maya) 🙏 . I have no children, but we lost my only nephew Max in 2021 at 6 years old. His favorite color was also purple, and I have found comfort in creating Christmas ornaments too from his old art supplies. Stranger to stranger, human to human, I struggle to express what your video meant to me. You have inspired me to embrace grieving and celebrating life and love creatively. Can you recommend a video to start my journey as a beginner at beading? 💎 💜 ✨️
Well I am relatively beginner. I had to start from scratch at least 25 times but I learned and learned. Today I completed it. Thank you. This is my favorite Christmas ball.
Ah sweetie. Lovely emotional tribute. As far as social media. Block the idiots. Love your heart warming stories. Can you adopt me. I didn't grow up with mom or dad. Love your tutorials. Very good at instructing.
Beautiful thx for sharing have a wonderful Christmas my best memory of 2016 is watching my son become as happy as he is thru all his struggles ❤ that's all I want to see is my children to be their happiest 😊 God Bless Ruby
Bless you ruby you are one of the best crafters around...bless your mom as well..i feel you I lost my mom Dec 4th 2016 and my sister in January of 2017..your emotions are legit my sister loved purple as well...
Awww, Ruby I wish I could give you a big hug hun. I am looking forward to heading into the new year with you my dear sweet friend. I am sure both of your parents love your christmas balls. They are beautiful. TFS and being such a wonderful friend and person. Merry Christmas hun. Hugs and Love. xxx Karen.
Hi Ruby, just watching this again and remembering how much I miss your beading tutorials and your amazing personality. I know it's only October but been in pre- Christmas mode for a month now. Hoping this christmas is easier on you. Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Ruby, you must have alot of patience. There is no way I could do this. Your beading is gorgeous and stunning and I love how your ornaments sparkle. Merry Christmas and I pray 2017 is a peaceful and wonderful year for you.
know how you feel sweetie, 2016 was horrible here in southern Louisiana, record number of rain, flooding, my dads home of 43 years flooded. he was 86 at the time, I had lost mom 3 years prior, I took care of them the last 20 years. His home flooded devastated him and he died 2 months later. I feel so alone now. I feel your pain, hugs
Adore your work, the cover is exquisite. I had the same problem of finger prints on the glass ball when doing a fitted cover, I found it helped wearing a disposable glove on my left hand. Might not look pretty on a video but it's only necessary at the very end of the project. I hope you enjoyed making the cover and design some more you do such lovely work.
my best 2016 memory was witnessing the birth of my great niece. I am really close to my niece and she asked me to join her and her mom in the delivery room, this will be her first Christmas.
I enjoy making beaded ornaments every year and often work off the bulb. Can't wait to make this one! ( I usually make them after Christmas during the winter for the next year.)
@Crafting With Ruby Just watching the first 30ish seconds of this, thinking how I should make something for the family Christmas tree this year. It will be my family's first Christmas without Mom. . . . And then you said this ornament was to honor your Mom. A heart attack stole my Mom from us, amongst all the craziness of 2020-2021, (The CoVid pandemic), and how many more people are missing parents, Moms, Dads, brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, daughters and sons, and so many grandparents, etc. I am sharing this, in August 2021.I think this could help a lot of people right now, whether through a smile, a trip down memory lane, inspiration to try this ornament, inspiration to take up a craft, or inspiration to honor their Mom some other way. I found this without looking for it specifically (which always happens, right?). Maybe we need to share more.
I just found this tutorial, which is great, by the way! This ornament cover is absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much for taking the time to design/create this ornament cover and its tutorial!
oh Ruby... that is so beautiful! I understand how you feel. I got married Dec. 27 and my husband passed away 27 days later. the holidays are always hard for me too.
I just found you. I love this art work. Also, I just fell in love with you. Bless your heart. I know how it feels losing your mom and dad. I'm really going to try hard to learn your art in memory of my moma. Thank you for all your inspirations
Wooow Ruby. I yust came across this video. And i do love your Christmas ornament. I will try to make it also. First i have to see if i can get all the beads and cristals in my Country. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a healty 2021. Hugs Hellen
Sorry for your loss🙁your work is so beautiful🙂I love crystals always have,I would love to do This kind of craft but I have vascular dementia and wouldn't remember what to do,too much all at once Keep up the beauty😊
So sorry I missed that tutorial in 2016. I would loved so much to win that gorgeous Christmas ball! Hope you had a great 2017 year. Personnally, I lost my 45-year old daughter to a sudden heart attack. So, I was glad that 2017 finished.
My best memory of 2016 would be about a month ago my 2 year old granddaughter was in the basement with her mother. When left unattended her mother hears the little one singing her favorite song Paw Patrol. When my daughter checked on Elyana she saw that she had unwrapped one of her Christmas presents and half of another. Now the baby is not allowed in the basement .
Purple was also my moms favorite color too. This Christmas was my second Christmas with out my mom and dad too. I lost my mom first then my dad. I lost both to cancer, my mom with pancreatic cancer and my dad with stomach cancer that spread to his lungs.
Dont be sorry, we all have emotions that can be really hard to deal with especially during the holiday season. For me the depression sets in in October but gets harder and harder and worse and worse by Christmas and Nee Years. I havent yet found a way to deal with it yet. I dont even decorate my home anymore. I used to decorate my home and my mothers too and now that she is not here I just cant bring myself to do it. Maybe next year, I'm not sure.
Hi, I live in a country city which do not have the 2 duo beads you use in the middle. I love the affect. Can I use any other kind of beads to have a similar affect?

Safely Home
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade'
Oh! But Jesus’ love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus’ arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt, dread'
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,
Pray to trust our Father’s will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth
You shall rest in Jesus’ land.
When the work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

Painters tape can be your friend when working on the bulb. If it leaves any residue at all it's minimal and removes easily.

Gorgeous. Easy way to keep ball clean while working is to stick your little finger into the hole and thumb on a bicone.
My best memory of 2016 is when my husband came home from deployment, just four days before our 24 year wedding anniversary... :)
I just found this tutorial, which is great, by the way! This ornament cover is absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much for taking the time to design/create this ornament cover and its tutorial!
Thank you so much!

Tears let out the pain so there is space in our hearts for the happy memories .. Xxx
this is the best I have seen all year,I just love your work.
Dont be sorry, we all have emotions that can be really hard to deal with especially during the holiday season.
