Honestly the coolest level in whole game. Realistic. A soviet plane carrying a secret cargo crashes in laos during the vietnam war. Both us and soviets denied being in laos. CIA SOG races to the crash site. Then, the soviets show up, and fight you over control of the crash. Both countries deny it happened. Sounds like a secret file youd pull from the pentagon.
Believe it or not there's an incident from May 1968 about a group of Soviet GRU Spetsnaz stealing a a few gunships from a hidden US base just over the Cambodian border
American CIA and SOG forces racing to find leftovers of a Soviet cargo plane carrying a bio weapon created by the Nazis during WW2 in Laos during the Vietnam War.
I like how reznov is just a hallucination, so basically mason is both driving the boat, firing an m60, and shooting a commando at the exact same time, and when he sneaks into the Soviet base with reznov, it’s literally him vs an entire army
He’s not just a hallucination, sometimes he’s mason himself. You can even hear bowman respond to reznov saying “krafchanko must die” With “ok mason, let’s go.”
“I shouted out who killed the Kennedys? Well after all, it was you and me!” Well if these lyrics doesn’t any underlying value in this game then I don’t know what is
@@perseus206 It was better than AW, Ghosts, and BO4, and that's good enough for me. I love how Woods just casually flips on the radio and half of the level is just Mason/Reznov, Bowman and Woods jamming to Sympathy of the Devil while blasting shit.
I love how they made the boat section believable. Instead of having these mounted missiles on a boat with remote controlled turrets, they made the guns look like they're controlled by the NPCs, but you're the one calling the shots
Even tho the Vietnam war was the worst one for our country but I think it was unique because when marines go on patrols on the boats they actually use the speakers as advantage because they play creep Erie music to bring out the Viet Kong’s. Therefore they use intimidation as their weapon
It was divisive but damn did it have good music and aesthetic, Weapons and gear of that era still feel relevant today and so were the tactics of that time.
12:33 Reznov says "Kravchenko must die", yet Woods & Bowman both look at Mason & Bowman says "Okay Mason, let's go", even though Mason (from our perspective) didn't say anything. Implying that a lot of Reznov's lines were said by Mason.
When the Soviet solder kick the pistol out of Mason hands I laughed because that was funny, are we not going to talk about the Soviet soldiers still shooting in the background at the end
True, they completely missed Central Asia even though there's a mission in Uzbekistan. With Mongolia however, it became communist in 1924 but wasn't ever part of the Soviet Union oddly enough.
Euward Andre Talanay The Soviet Union didn't send troops in quantities anywhere close to what the US had, but they were very involved in assisting the NVA and NLF (Vietcong) The Soviets supplied them heavily with small arms, armor, equipment, aircraft, and anti-aircraft weaponry. They were also supplying Israel's neighbors (enemies) around this time as well. It makes sense that they'd be allies
Euward Andre Talanay Russia and the US hated each other during this time period, as it was before the Cold War. It made sense for the Soviet Union to help the Vietcong during this war, as the saying goes, the enemy of our enemy is our friend. The Vietcong and the Soviets were both communists as well.
There are tons of mistakes and anachronisms in this though.... Ak74u carbines in 68? What? Hinds (first working prototype in 1969...) that are GUNSHIPS dropping people off via ropes (thats like an apachee behaving like a blackhawk...) It's just hilarious.
There are tons of anachronisms in Black Ops 1 which roll with the justification that the black ops units depicted in-game get the bleeding-edge prototypes of everything years before "official" history denotes their use
Despite being "a flying tank", the hind is actually used for troop transport as well accomodating 8 passengers. The unusually large and cumbersome look should give that away though.
i remember saying " holy shit " when that rolling stones track played man it was awesome
Virtual Riot Fan shit it gave me chills. It was so perfect for the scene.
What an amazing track choice
@@Mshaw98 Same with fortunate son in the other mission I think but tbh I’m just happy the songs are there
i love how the radio takes no damage
cant let the music stop
The real reason Mason and his team got captured was because the music ended and they got off the boat.

If there's one thing that CoD has done to kids that is good, it has to be potentially introducing them to The Rolling Stones!

14:42 the very fact that Kravchenko can be seen eating an apple surprises me, I can't believe I didn't notice this before
He needed his vitamins lol
Almost 11 years after the initial release of the game… thanks!
Kravchenko his bad guy his stomp mason head on Vietnam and plane carsh
And he throws it at woods

I always like Bowman cheering when stuff is blown up in this level
Probably couldn't keep Ice Cube from cheering, lol.
I’m glad this video does not cut “Symphony of the Devil: Rolling Stones” music on this.
