I like these short tips, in particular since they are not often given such detailed attention. Well done. Cheers.

If the fouling is not too hard, I managed to clean my paddle wheel with dental floss. Without removing the shaft. Good video as usuals.

I soak mine in vinegar for a couple hours and clean with a q-tip, small wire brush.

My speed sensor has been intermittent! Add an item to the things to do list! Thanks for the great video. I didn't know about anti-fouling paint for the transducer!

Well done, thanks! Just bought a used Beneteau 373, sailing back from Toronto to Montreal and at some point the speed indicator went to 0 intermittently. If I have time soon (still a working joe), I will pull it. Good advice on where to store the plug. My marine surveyor also suggested we tie wrap the plug to the transducer wire.

Yes they can be error prone, being a mechanical rotating object in the water. Sometimes we get weeds caught on ours for a moment. I try to check ours whenever I go in the water for a swim. Good luck!

Interesting that your unit shows the yellow pre-installation o ring instead of the black o ring that you are supposed to replace the yellow with (according to Air Mar) Do you have leaks?

No, we have not had leaks since we’ve used that transducer. To be honest I wasn’t even aware there was a yellow seal (in the top cap). The replacement o ring set from airmar comes with two sets of black o rings and I have replaced them once before as a precaution but water has never leaked past those two o rings. Nor does it leak when I twist loose the cap. It only starts to leak when I’ve slid the transducer most of the way out of the housing. Fair Winds!

Hi Guys, I can’t get the blank in when removing the transducer. It seems to get stuck 2/3 down. Any advice?

Hi Trevor. First you might check to make sure the big arrow on the top is facing forward, just like supposed to do with the real transducer. Second, I have noticed, if there has been some growth on the transducer, that it can take some steady pressure on the blank to get it to set all the way in. I think this might be because of growth around the bottom part of the tube. I try to get it down in enough that I can grab a thread or two with the nut and then that helps force it the rest of the way down. Putting some mild liquid soap on the o rings of the blank can help too. Good luck!
