- Mzinga is alive today because of a fortuitous chance sighting. On 9th February 2022, our Tsavo Works Manager rounded out a long day in the field with an evening patrol of the Voi pipeline. Driving along the remote, dusty road, he spotted a tiny elephant up near Msinga Hill. She was all alone, dwarfed by the vast wilderness surrounding her.

Established in 1977, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (SWT) operates the world’s most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program, rescuing and hand-rearing orphaned elephants and other animals that have lost their mothers, all too often as a result of human activity. But we do much more than this. Through our Aerial, Anti-Poaching and Mobile Veterinary Units, we safeguard the natural environment and provide immediate assistance to wild animals in need. We also secure irreplaceable wilderness areas so that animals will always have space to roam and work with local partners and communities to ensure people and wildlife can live alongside one another.

That is true, I've seen that too. I do have a question, at 1:30, where did the second little phant come from? When the third phant joined them at 2:42, it's mentioned on screen. But nothing was said about the second one
@@yankeedoodle5691 I think so as well. Overall, there just needs to be more phants being saved, all types, all conditions, all ages, and both African and Asian phants

Sad as it is to see so many orphans what would they do without you and all the wonderful team that is there to give them love, medical needs and eventually freedom. Again thank you to everyone involved.🌟🌟🌎.

Sad and traumatic for this baby. Thank you to all who are helping her. It is disgusting that these wonderful creatures are exploited.

These Orphans had struggles and one thing they will always remember the most is the moment they got rescued and how wonderful their childhood has been since then, the memories of having so much love from the keepers, is why they always come back once they go wild, they always come back and say hello and introduce their babies to you all ❤️❤️❤️ that's the most rewarding thing.

Alongside the gratitude I feel for the rescue of these precious little ones, I feel so sad for the terrible sense of loss felt by the mothers, if indeed they're alive somewhere out there in the bush.

What a gorgeous girl! She has the spirit of a warrior; to be out there on her own at such a tender age and survive until she was found is amazing. Sad she isn't with her herd-of-origin but she could not be in better hands, and she is now part of a beautiful herd of elephants that know what she has gone through. Another amazing rescue by this great organisation. When I watch these video logs of the young elephants that have been orphaned for some reason, and rescued by SWT, I can’t help admire the love,dedication, and hard work, that the keepers give to every new young charge. I imagine that in return, they get a lot of joy out of their jobs. It shows in their smiles when they are with the orphans and the adult herd. I hope that SWT is able to help these amazing animals for a long time into the future.

What is happening to their Herd, the adults and infants in their wild herds, and especially what happened to their Moms??? A elephant Mom would never voluntarily leave her baby behind unless it was a extreme dire situation. Even then some elephants Moms would stay by their babies no matter what. Thank you for rescuing these babies.
