Question for Pastor Hangover…. Excellent Sermon! Why does the Ethiopian Bible have 73 books compared to the Western Bible with 66 books? Did the Catholic Church remove books or did the Ethiopian Church add books that are not canon?
My 9 year old son, has a question for the podcast this week. If it’s not too late. He wants to know …”what happened to the sea creatures and sea animals, during the flood? Did they die too, even though they live in water? Thank you so much!!
Here’s a comment I received from an unbeliever when discussing pre-marital sex and masturbation: “The Bible was written SO long ago and times have changed. They used to get married so early in life and things were just different than they are now. God gave you the desire, why can’t you satisfy it?” Can you please comment on that?
I am about 75% done with reading the Bible chronologically and I want to know why there are some books omitted from the Bible? Some of the other books provide more context to certain parts of the Bible. Also, why is Mary Magdalene’s story in the Bible significantly minimized? Mary was there when Jesus was crucified and also the one to find the tomb empty. Where is her story? I feel like there is so much more to learn. Is her story suppressed solely because of the patriarchal culture?
Although helpful, those books were never considered inspired texts. Books like Esdras, 1 Enoch, Tobith, and 1-2 Maccabees were considered uninspired writings by Jewish leaders and Christians alike. Now, if you want to read them for historical purposes, you can, but they don't qualify as divinely inspired. The authors of the gospel's main priority and concern were the story of Jesus, not the side characters, because it is Jesus‘s story that provides salvation, and even Mary and the others viewed that the same way they wanted to make much of Jesus. Now, to answer your question about Mary’s story, if her story were suppressed because of patriarchal culture, then they would’ve never included her as the one who found the empty tomb, but they stuck to it. The authors of the gospel's main priority and concern were the story of Jesus, not the side characters, because it is Jesus’s story that provides salvation, and even Mary and the others viewed that the same way they wanted to make much of Jesus.
But why are there so many inaccurate things in the Bible given to us? Like teaching us to drink wine is okay especially in the new testament and God specifically telling us if we want to be closer to Him we should stay away from wine and anything grape related, by any means? There are more things I could add.
Petarco- The Bible doesn’t “teach” us to drink wine. It’s allowed, (Jesus first miracle was turning water to wine) but it DOES teach to “not be drunk”. Inaccurate is different from difference in interpretation and application. Are you saying the Bible is inaccurate in its representation of what God was revealing to the authors, or are you saying you disagree with what is expressed in the Bible?
"A little wine is good for the digestion" is what Paul encourages Timothy who had stomach problems. In another passage the Bible says not to get drunk because it leads to dissipation. Drinking a glass of wine is not getting drunk. Those two things do not conflict.
@CodyandMindy most of the times it is just that easy to disprove the apologetic mumbo jumbo. I could say plenty of other things, but he said the Bible is historical correct. We have proved that Noah's flood never happened, I.E. it is not historical correct.
LOVED this sermon! Eagerly waiting for the podcast to drop!!

Great question. I'm 58 yrs old and I have never thought about the sea creatures during the flood. Give your son a high five for me.

Noah's flood never happened. There ya go, it is inaccurate. We have just disproved everything you said.
Incredible proofs you have for this statement
