There is no single platitude of advice I can give you for you to start enjoying metal. All I can say is continue to browse through various artists and various sub-genres. But one thing I can guarantee you is that if you do this, you will certainly find a brand of metal that suits your taste. There is just so much out there. I think there is a type of metal for everyone.
^this. Metal is probably the most varied genre of music there is. The amount of sub-genres and combinations of genres possible in metal is beyond insane. You have to keep in mind that there is a very wide range of sound and a band like... let's say Disturbed or Slipknot, won't sound the same as a band like Darkthrone (which is black metal). And Darkthrone won't sound the same as Blind Guardian(power metal) or Horrendous and so on. Instrument tone, mixing, speed, technicality, lyrics and so much more influences a group, or a genre from another. You have to dig a little and find your niche. Good luck! But enjoy! :)
This is turning out to be a fantastic year for tech death . Obscura, Beyond Creation, Alkaloid , Rivers Of Nihil, Slugdge , this album and new Gorod also looking great if singles indicate the quality of the whole album.
Super stoked to check out this album! This year has been pretty good for Death Metal since we got new Obscura , Behemoth, and Beyond Creation. Now we just need some new Fallujah.
@@armandchristophe1472 I think most of it had to do with the production of the album and how over compressed it sounded. Dreamless was definitely a step in the right direction though.
AzCannibalChris Yeah, I agree. Dreamless still retains the heavy sounding production, but the drums sound much more clear and consistent. The drum sound on The Flesh Prevails sounded extremely muddy and the vocals drowned out a lot of the sonic elements that make Dreamless more enjoyable.
You are the only person that introduces me to new metal and other rock genre bands. This was a great band to be introduced to, and I really appreciate how varied your reviews are. You don’t pidgeonhole yourself into one review, and because of this I always at least listen to the artists you review, even if the genre is outside my usual listening. I really appreciate that you’ve helped me to broaden my music-listening, and tuned my ear towards more artists and bands. Can’t thank you enough, Melon
Horrendous is such a tight group. Anareta was easily one of my favorite metal albums of 2015, and I dove right into their material shortly after finding that. I’m horrible with keeping up with metal though, I didn’t even know they’d put a new album out until I saw this video pop up in my feed.
well yeah, i just didnt want to list every freaking sub genre and sound like a snob, i guess if you really wanna be specific they are a six piece progressive extreme melodic/symphonic black/death metal band, but that sounds fucking stupid, so i just shortened it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
