Captain Charles Young graduated from West Point. He was the first Superintendent of the National Park Service in 1903. A diplomat, a teacher, a musician, an author - he rose to the occasion and showed us that you can overcome - with your heart in the right place. We fought for this recognition - his great-niece - took this cause to the U.S. Secretay of Defense - and brought about the posthumous promotion - of Brigadier General Charles Young. He was a Buffalo soldier, and thousands are proud of his many achievements. He commanded the 9th and 10th Calvary at the San Francisco Presidio. It is fitting at this time - to honor him with a monument - of his many stellar - achievements.
I wonder how Charles's relatives would feel if his story is told on the SCREEN? (Trilogies/Limited Series) I experienced CHILLS thinking about AN ACTOR WHO WOULD BE A PERFECT FIT TO PORTRAY HIM HERE'S A CLUE: He portrayed "RICKY BAKER" in his movie debut in a 1991 movie.
Here is the ceremony recorded when the Brigadier General family was invited to receive the posthumous promotion: ua-cam.com/video/gqwo5743EoE/v-deo.html
I wonder what be the response from Charles Young's family members if A PARTICULAR ACTOR whom we've been watching for years portrayed their famous relative? IN MY OPINION, HE WOULD BE A PERFECT FIT. HERE'S A CLUE: He portrayed "RICKY BAKER" in his movie debut an iconic 1991 movie.

Thanks to all who made this wonderful video and the lesson in black history.
Love the way he sang that Freedom Song Lift Every Voice. Never heard that song sand in that way. Wonderful!
Outstanding, a fitting tribute to a true American Hero. Special Thanks and Appreciation to MG Vereen and Commissioner Jackson
I gave a thumbs down, why? Charles Young still has living ancestors right there in KY, in CA, in GA and Fl. Why not have someone from the family?
