    I’m 63 and just spent the last year revisiting these models by building them up again. Now with airbrush and fancy glue it’s a blast and the higher quality gives the adult in me a kick. Especially w new add on options you can retrofit to enhance the original. I’m building up the classic cars too that I had in early life. Fun stuff.

      That is an awesome way to not only rediscover a hobby but to improve on the original product. We would love to see them.

    I had most of these when I was a kid. The Big Frankie model was my friend when I was young, went to parties with me and even went to college with me, he met a horrible death when I left him in the back glass of a hatch back Mustang on a long trip and he melted.

      This is great to hear, love these kind if stories. Two questions, did you ever replace Big Frankie and what degree did he earn in college?

    Major aspect of my growing-up years. I still have the models, but how I wish I had kept the boxes, especially the long rectangular ones!

      They were a lot of fun. Boxes would be great but it was so much fun putting them together.

    I remember seeing the movies in the seventies then went out and bought the Aurora kits
    I have since bought all of them again and did them properly this time round as a more skilled model maker.

      We also watched the Universal Monster movies in the 70’s. So much fun as a kid. Never had the models but had the Remco toys which we also did a video about ua-cam.com/video/RLYtxfWYP40/v-deo.html

      Glad I’m not alone! Back then we grew older and used them for BB gun targets. Crazy. Now I’m buying display lights and building shelves.

    I'm revisiting those wonderful models now. I just finished The Wolfman's Wagon. The first time I built this kit, I was 7 years old, or so. This version looks a lot better. lol.

    I remember I would walk to the Coronet 5 & 10 store with my $1 weekly allowance to buy the latest model for 98 cents. Only problem was the cashier was a snooty old turd and said there is 4 cents tax so the total is $1.02. She would not let me slide for that lousy 2 cents, my Mom would not give me a 2 cent increase on my allowance as that was the agreement. So I found out the grumpy cashiers day off and went on the day she was off. I still remember that prune face cashier to this day.🤷🏼‍♂️😂

    I'm already a comic guy but I REALLY want to get into making monster models and collecting them. Is it better to build them or leave them in the box for display?

    • @Collectorsconfessions
      @Collectorsconfessions  9 місяців тому +1

      Honestly in our opinion we think it’s best to build them and then display them with the box. Which we feel is a piece of the art.

    Actually Lovecraft wasn't a fan of the movie.
    "I haven’t been able to get around to any cinemas except “Frankenstein”-which vastly disappointed me. The book has been altered beyond recognition, & everything is toned down to an insufferable cheapness & relative tameness. I fear the cinema is no place to get horror-thrills!" -H. P. Lovecraft to J. Vernon Shea, 9 Dec 1931, Letters to J. Vernon Shea 85
