I've learned a lot about the pro mode on s10. Thanks for the great video! By the way, what do you mean "10 stop ND and a CP" for the long exposure photos
You need to buy a 62mm filter adapter first. Then buy 62mm, 10 Stop variable (Neutral Density) ND filter &/or (Circular Polarizing) CP filter. The filters basically control the amount of bright light coming in, thus creating a smoother image with the motion blurs you want in slow shutter speed waterfall images.
The ND and CPs are filters, neutral density and circular polarizers. I use them when I need long exposures during the day time for things like waterfalls and light trails and blurring people out of busy city scenes. I have a number of videos explaining what they are and how they work, and some other videos on how/why/when to use filters specifically with smartphones. There are some filters that fit over moment lenses, which like Garrett said, you need an adapter for, but there are other ones that just clip on over your phone's lens. Here's a video I did about what they are and how they work: ua-cam.com/video/IUrRTXj27ss/v-deo.html and here's one about using them with phones: ua-cam.com/video/tZxxkypqNPI/v-deo.html
Wow excellent job explaining the pro camera functions to a photo novice like me, 10 minutes well spent. Does the raw mode option also give better picture quality and resolution in addition to better post editing options?
Thanks, I'm glad it helped! The raw option will not give inherently better image quality or resolution, it will only help the image to hold better to more post processing since it will not throw away any of the data from the sensor, which is what happens when your phone formats the image to a jpeg.

Hey bud, lose the rings. Distracting when you're pointing to something and all I notice is this big blurry silver dragon. Good informative video though!!
Good morning Hall. I am not a photographer but an artist. I have a Galaxy 10+ and need to take excellent pictures of my paintings. Where do I start? Any help will be welcome, before I start studying your videos! Thanks a lot
It really depends on the scene. The lights can fluctuate and move quite quickly so it makes longer exposures harder because you can blur them out if your shutter speed is too long. On the downside, it's still night, and usually quite dark out, so you might want/have to crank up your iso if you want a proper exposure.
You could try the burst mode in auto. Or if you use pro mode, then you'd probably want at least 1/250 sec or faster shutter speed, f/1.5, and whatever ISO you need to be properly exposed ( lower is better for image quality, but you may have to raise it in poor light).
Neutral density and circular polarizer filters. I have many videos on how and why to use both. All the gear I use and recommend is linked in the video description, and I also made a video on the best tripods for smartphones. 😁
Thank you so much for the video. Can you please share some tips on like how to use S10 for normal pictures. My pics are kind of blurry most of the times

So what's the best app replacement for the now missing video pro mode? I literally need to find one in the next two days and was hoping your video on it would have already been out. Can you give me a name or two to check out?
Hey, sorry man. I'm trying to get to it. I've been really busy with my actual photo/videography business and clients, and Brittany (my main camera lady) has been really sick, so we're trying to catch up and get that video done. Anyways, the only two I could personally recommend are Filmic Pro and the Moment app. Both have their own pros and cons though. Filmic Pro has more features, but it costs $15, and another $15 if you want their cinematographer's pack (which is not completely necessary), and moment only costs like $2 or something, but it's not as feature-packed. Both will allow you to manually control the important stuff, like shutter speed, ISO, WB, and both will let you film in 1080 or 4K 24 fps, but neither has access to the higher frame rates, so you won't be bale to do slow motion with either app.
@@BrentHall Thanks for the suggestions! I got caught by surprised when I was out on a project and flipped my camera to pro mode only to find the video button missing. I'll check out Filmic Pro. $30 is not a lot when it comes to software and I don't need slow motion. Hope Brittany is feeling better soon!

Thank you Shaun! The star photo had some basic adjustments done, as did the water photo, though the water photo was a stack of 10 images blended together to get an effective longer shutter speed, since it was still too bright even with the nd filter.

8:21 how cool is that? BigFoot walks right through his shot while he's explaining to us how to take really cool pics with our phones.
Wow! Super helpful. I feel really spoiled. Lol. S10e has a great camera and now I know more about it I'm super excited to try serten pictures that I haven't been able to do or struggled with.
And since S7 times they stuck with 10sec. longest shutter time 🤦🏻♂
And let's not forget that the manual mode is only for one lens, and sounds like a 💩 after v30. Disappointed.
V30 really?
@@adityan3208 yes, S10+ dac is inferior, LGv30 sounds a lot better. Also manual camera not only for one lens but doesn't have video in manual mode, but for this one I'm using filmic pro.
I have s7
I really Love Phone Photography! It really helps me a lot on my Samsung s9+.
Same here
PRO MODE IN VIDEO HAS BEEN DELETED FROM S9PLUS SINCE S10 CAME OUT !!!!
IT SUCKS , ANY SOLUTIONS !!!!!
Yeah, it definitely sucks. The only options you have are to roll it back to pro or use 3rd party apps.
@@BrentHall how do you roll it back?
Yes it's complete bullshit. as you have s9 then you can still go back to android 8 version from the new 9. But people who got the s10's are fucked.
Oh it's definitely not the only problem with 3rd party apps, but it's one of the biggest for sure.
What type (brand) of tripod and adapter are you using? Excellent information!
I use a Ulanzi. All the gear I use ( including that) is listed in the video description.
What About PRO VIDEO MODE????? Samsung Just killed it after pie update!!!
Yeah, I made a video about that a while back. I think it's likely gone forever. If you want manual video controls now, you'll have to go with a 3rd party app.
Preach. I’ve been with Samsung since Note 3 but will never buy one again if they don’t bring it back.
@@BrentHall ...Best third party app support both Photo and vedio mode just like pro mode!
@@MrSiraj100 not on all devices and cpu. My Galaxy s9 plus doesn't have acces to more than 30fps (filmic pro is the best app I found so far) using snapdragon cpu, while some others can use it.
Another great choice for manual mode is LG flagships. Samsung phones are so featured packed as well.
Yeah, they have some great manual controls and some very nice cameras. I'd love to try one someday.
I choosed the p30 pro over the s10 plus, as the s10 does not let me expose for 30 seconds... Whyyy samsung whyyyyyy. I would love to buy note 10 if they just had this option
Any reason you have to justify your opinion
man this is just a capable smartphone with a decent camera lol. Either get a camera app that allows you to do that or just get an actual camera where exposure can be as long as a minute
Yes exactly.
I always saw the pro mode and ignored it, but today i tought there has to be a good reason for its existance, a way to make photos look insane. Here i am
Watch in x1.25 speed and thank me later
I watched in x1.50 lol
I watch everything on 3x speed
Thanx for teaching that, now I'm gonna listen Eminem's music at 0.25x
Thank You Sir it did. My S10+ camera is now more that perfect 🙏🙏
Hey bud, lose the rings. Distracting when you're pointing to something and all I notice is this big blurry silver dragon.
Good informative video though!!
Hi..could you make a video on how to shot a perfect picture in low light or night time using a s10plus. Thank you
Since one UI promode is only for photo, 🤣 no more pro mode for video
I wrote about that fail to Samsung using the members app (feedback). Spam them about that fail to bring the video button.
Good morning Hall. I am not a photographer but an artist. I have a Galaxy 10+ and need to take excellent pictures of my paintings. Where do I start? Any help will be welcome, before I start studying your videos! Thanks a lot
8:21 Bigfoot spotted?!
Nice video. Is there a way to take a photo shot in recorded video
Still thinks iPhone is good? Pfff
Iphone is my Foot 😡🖐️
5 years I came back to say yes iPhone is doing much better
Thank you for this video. Just picked up s10e and wanted to learn about pro mode.
Great Video.
What settings would you put for taking photos of The Northern Lights?
It really depends on the scene. The lights can fluctuate and move quite quickly so it makes longer exposures harder because you can blur them out if your shutter speed is too long. On the downside, it's still night, and usually quite dark out, so you might want/have to crank up your iso if you want a proper exposure.
What settings would you recommend for taking photos of kids playing basketball indoors? How to avoid blurry photos...
You could try the burst mode in auto. Or if you use pro mode, then you'd probably want at least 1/250 sec or faster shutter speed, f/1.5, and whatever ISO you need to be properly exposed ( lower is better for image quality, but you may have to raise it in poor light).
2 questions:
1) what does it mean "ND" or "CP" example at 8:05
2) what tripod do you recommend for a S10+ ?
Neutral density and circular polarizer filters. I have many videos on how and why to use both. All the gear I use and recommend is linked in the video description, and I also made a video on the best tripods for smartphones. 😁
How did you setup your tripad and the grip to attouch your phone? I badly need your expertise. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the video. Can you please share some tips on like how to use S10 for normal pictures. My pics are kind of blurry most of the times
The new night mode is really something. Do you think it's better 2 use a pro mode over night mode doing night pictures?
It depends on what kind of images you want. If you want light trails from cars and stuff like that, then you'd still be better off with pro mode.
@@BrentHall going to Thailand next month, will be visiting temples at night, they have light around so was just wondering which one to use, might have to try both
So what's the best app replacement for the now missing video pro mode?
Hope Brittany is feeling better soon!
first things first how did you get to the Bixby vision camera?
Thanks Brett 👊 A great tutorial; the best I've come across. Calm and clear. Thank you.
You're welcome, glad I could help!
Finally some one saved my life 🙄 I will immediately test this on my s10+
It would be cool if it could also be in German and more articles on the promodus on the galaxy S10
Very good introduction. Thanks. On my s10 I have a problem with audio control during recording video in pro mode. Camera recording sound normally, but I can't hear on earphones sound. Nothing. Zero. I can't find the way how to get sound in earphones during recording video. Any suggestions?
Best tutorial so far
This is a very helpful video. I switched from Huawei to Samsung because of the issue going on(Had no choice). I got used to the things that Huawei has in their pro mode. BTW, what do you mean by ND and CP?
Fantastic video thanks! I've had my Samsung for 6 months and had no idea that it had pro - mode. Have you ever used the lens wide and tele attachments sold on amazon etc?
Thanks man, I'm glad the video helped! I've used the Moment lenses (I've made many videos about them), but haven't tried any of the cheaper lenses.
Helpfull af. didnt know what most of these did but now I know.
Glad I could help!
Thanks for this video. I have s10 plus ➕ my video recording stops after a minute and half. Why? Can you help?
Wish they would bring back Dual Camera mode. Very useful for instructional videos.
Great value in this video. I just purchased the lower model s10e and will have to see if I have all of the same functionality. I'm excited to do some smart phone photography.
So i was planing to get a galaxy s10 plus and I was wondering if I could shoot videos in pro mode
it helped me a lot, thanks.
Is almost the same on my Samsung s6. Very cool
Glad I could help, thanks for watching!
Hi, please navigate the episode also related to the Samsung Galaxy s10 + but in One Ui 4.1 because I have the impression that in this update there are less options in Pro mode.
Does the Pro Video mode muffle loud sounds like fireworks or does it catch the actual level of it?
Hey! I am a beginner photographer, starting with my Galaxy S10 Plus. Was looking at a used Nikon D80 with 18-55mm lens for $140 but was curious to get your input? Love the videos thanks!
That's a really good price, and you'll be able to get a lot more out of it than with a phone.
The pro mode was actually really helpful
I'm trying to take hi resolution photos of still art in order to make large prints. Can you suggest the best settings for this?
Do you have any suggestions of taking a nice closer shot of the moon?
Thank you anyway! 😊
Not with a phone I don't. I just don't think phones are there yet.
Get a DSLR or point a shoot with manual controls lmao.😄
Thanks for the awesome video mate. Please tell me if that photo of the stars was edited at all before posting, as well as the photo of the water? Regards
Thank you Shaun! The star photo had some basic adjustments done, as did the water photo, though the water photo was a stack of 10 images blended together to get an effective longer shutter speed, since it was still too bright even with the nd filter.
@@BrentHall how did you blend the 10 photos together of the water? Did you do this via the phone and also what is an ND filter?
An nd filter is a neutral density filter. I have quite a few videos about filters, and some on how to use with phones specifically they might help you. Here's one about filters: ua-cam.com/video/IUrRTXj27ss/v-deo.html
And here's one about how I blend multiple water images in Photoshop: ua-cam.com/video/camWIvVZlbU/v-deo.html
They're both a bit long, but you might get some good info out of them. Check out my smartphone photography tutorials playlist too for some more phone specific filter videos if you're interested.
@@BrentHall thanks for the response man.
Sure thing man, glad I could help!
