Either that (which I honestly hope isn't what's actually going on because that would totally suck for him if the foundation was screwed up THAT bad.) or, it shows that the place has been flooded before. Either by natural causes or maybe the original, or second owners went on a vacation during winter and forgot to turn their water off before leaving and a pipe busted and flooded the inside of the house. And returned to a home with water damage. (That water looks like it's been sitting a long time. So it's more possible that it was the 2nd or 3rd owners of the home. Someone who DIDN'T know about the safe because it was hidden under flooring. And once they found it, they just didn't get a locksmith to come out to open it, because either they didn't care, or they didn't think about the consequences of having stagnant water in their home. Even though it was a locked safe, I'm still willing to bet that they had to get exterminators to come out and deal with bugs throughout the years because of the stagnant water. Especially things like gnats and mosquitoes (especially mosquitoes) love to lay eggs in/on/right next to stagnant water. It's both a watering ground, but also the dark and the humidity would be a PERFECT place for them to lay their spawn.). I'd even go as far to say that they probably kept having to treat the house for mold because of the stagnant water.) There are so many things that the water just being there, like a personal little water-well (but enclosed and unable to be opened) could do to truly keep ruining a house. From reoccurring mold issues, to actual fungi (like mushrooms) infestations since it bring too much moisture into the house. To insects/bug problems. And like you said, even possible foundation issues. Because even though it's not a LOT of water, it what the water does over time. That floor safe literally had it's own (basically enclosed, but considering it's not an air tight seal, it might as well of been just a bucket of old water (like God only knows how old/long that water has been there. And yes it would evaporate, but since it was so enclosed, it should (and I'm sure it did) just continue to evaporate and then return back to a fully liquid state.) ecosystem going on for all these years. Hopefully the water DIDN'T do too much damage to the foundation. And hopefully they can just hit the inside of the safe with a good concrete penetrating latex paint/sealant. As long as there isn't any cracks (well, significant cracks) the foundation MIGHT be okay. If worse comes to worse, they can just fill it in with concrete. Or at least that's me being optimistic lolol

The homeowner did get actually get something out of it; the knowledge that his foundation is absolutely f_(k€d! 😂
