Paul Carrack is quite possibly the single most under appreciated talent in Rock and Roll history. And while I truly love this song in all its many versions, ( Status Quo, Pam Tillis, The Searchers, Karla Bonoff, Jackie DeShannon (she wrote it), Agnetha Falkskog, etc.), Mr. Carrack's version is my favorite. Thank you so much for posting this wonderful music...
@@zapkvr I disagree with your emphatic response. If you say the name "Paul Carrack" in America, the majority of people here would have no idea who he is. I realize it is not the same in England, but here, people don't know Paul Carrack.
Maybe you know this, but it was written and recorded by the greatest female singer-songwriter-musician ever in my opinion, Jackie DeShannon, back in 1963, and it’s great! Paul does an absolutely fantastic job on this too, love it.
One of the best vocalists on planet Earth !! The vocals on this track are just the best ever ! Had the intro played as my Wife to be walked down the aisle....Magical Steve Kinsey
You're absolutely right. It's a lovely song beautifully sung, and at the very least this music clip suits this rendition far better than the original video (which was far too comedic for my liking).
This song takes me back to senior high school where I had the (mis)fortune of being in some of the same classes of one of the most beautiful young women I've ever seen in my life. Needless to say I was utterly smitten (she never knew) to the point I was effectively lobotomised - I couldn't concentrate, doing far far worse at school than I should have and I was messed up, not having the social skills to be able to ever introduce myself. The words of this song convey this time for me exactly.
This is without doubt my absolute favourite version of this song!! I really like the powerful beat and Paul's voice is great, whenever someone mentions this song I always think of Paul's version for some reason...
No accounting for taste. This has to be one of the worst versions of this song, but at least it's a bit better (or less worse) than the dire Status Quo one.

Not only one of the best 'pipes in the biz', but a clown too. Bumped into Paul in Kensington area London, 1974, as he was getting his band Ace going. Mischievous as anything & all round good guy. He can sing any song & give it wings !
Always loved his voice, and of course this version is my fave by far but for me the additional female vocal makes this track complete, they compliment each other impeccably and she adds a lovely extra dimension to his vocal tracking too, Great song and version
@@robinwilson1433 the girl in the video isn't Jackie though, it's someone else lip syncing. Read an interview of Jackie's and she said this but didn't mention who the actress was.
Still enjoyed watching and listening to this song 🎧 again after all these years. Lyrics hit right. Babe it’s a dream come true, walking right along side with you. ✨🎼🎧💜 The picture painting 🖼️ on the wall and her face coming thru makes it look like all those new technologies of now where they take a regular picture or , painting or screen shot, and get it to move sing and boogie. 😅
One of the best pop songs ever written, I list it as a feel good song, and every cover owes so much to Jackie de Shannon and her 60's version. It's one of those songs people want to hear, and these covers are simply paying homage to that fact. It was The Searcher's version that hooked me.
Here in 2024 & this song still hits the notes 😎
The Searchers own this song not this clown.
Great song
I listened to this 1987, feels like yesterday!
The Truth is this song is a
"Masterpiece"
My late husband would sing this song to me. It means everything to me.
Awww I love that!

Man this guy can sing! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
One of Yorkshire's finest! Ladies and gentlemen, Mr Paul Carrack!
I love this version of this great song. The video was ahead of its time and the duet and harmonies are amazing!

This was our wedding song. Best day of my life 😂😂😂
Still listening 2024 great song
This version is vastly better than the original. Love it.
Paul Carrack is one of the most underrated singer/songwriters ever! A shining talent.
have you heard his version of the song GROOVIN'? His voice is amazing.
fleageful johkgjkgjkgjkg
I think he's more appreciated in his native England. Whether he was with Ace, Squeeze or Mike & The Mechanics, he's been a genius!
I cannot agree with you more. Ever hear this one? ua-cam.com/video/25fVkKUgzBU/v-deo.html
Absolutely!
I think both the song and the video are brilliant - Paul's voice is one of the best ever.
What a great feel good song, also the lady has excellent voice

The year 1987! What a year for music a timeless classic
Love this song and Pauls singing! He is pure magic! Maria in Sweden. ❤❤❤❤❤

This lad has the Best Voice in the Business...............xx
I agree wholeheartedly. He's got a great voice 👍🏼👍🏼
This song always plays at work and now it’s stuck in my head 😭 Also this is the most 80s music video I have ever seen
It's stuck in my head too and the most disturbing thing is this is the best version among the other covers, including the original by Jackie
always loved pauls work. so much power in this song.
My favourite version of this song!
I really love this version of song. What a lovely voice Paul has. I know nothing about him I'm sad to say.
Maybe you do, though. Ace: How Long Has This Been Going On - that's him. "Tempted"? Yep. He's awesome.
Mike & The Mechanics too Epic song sung by Paul Carrack written by Mike Rutherford about his father..any guess on the Song title.. @@xav8rdan
IMO the best version of the song, he's a great singer and the arrangement and backbeat is captivating!
I prefer the original by the songwriter herself ua-cam.com/video/mVCBSIn_1j0/v-deo.html
Whos the women singing?
Whilst I wouldn't go as far as saying its the best version, it is different, and its definitely worth listening to.
I've heard so many different covers of this song. I don't think I've ever heard a bad one. All different yet all amazing

GEIL GEMACHT! DAMM GOOD. GREETS FROM LINGEN GERMANY
Mike and the Mechanics The Living Years What a Song
This cover really takes the song to another level! Just amazing!!
Love the best 80' songs
I think this song was from the 1960s, a great era of music. ❤
Best cover version ever.
That is a fantastic song, love it and yes he is very underrated
Got to be the best version of this great song!
Not in my opinion. Check out Agnetha Faltskog's version. Fantastic.
I think they are both the best this has a crap video agnetha has a better video.. I like the intro don't often hear it.
This or Agnetha Faltskog's....
Pam Tillis had a great version of this song.

What a song ! What a singer !
Great version of the song and beautiful video too, Thank you!!
I can feel a new expression on my face
I can feel a glowing sensation taking place
I can hear the guitars playing lovely tunes
Everytime that you
Walk in the room
I close my eyes for a second and pretend it's
Me you want
Meanwhile, I try to act so nonchalant
I see a summer's night with a magic moon
Everytime that you
Walk in the room
Maybe it's a dream come true
Walking right alongside of you
Wish I could tell you how much I care
But I only have the nerve to stare
I can feel a something pounding in my brain
Just anytime that someone speaks your name
Trumpets sound and I hear thunder boom
Everytime that you
Walk in the room
Everytime that you
Walk in the room
Even more heartbreaking. Can't listen to the end ❤❤❤❤❤

I heard this song today (2016) in a supermarket in Sydney, Australia. Haven't heard it for many years, maybe 1970's.
was from the 80s
joshualucas Searchers had a big hit with this song late sixties
Brilliant, great version of this song
One of the finest voices in music.very easy to listen to paul.
I just realised that this is the guy that sings The Living Years... great voice. Love how he uses the word Nonchalant so nonchalantly.
The best version of this song IMO! It's perfect!
Never new this was a cover of the Searches song! But this version is awesome!
Listen to Statues Quo or Agnetha Fältskog (ABBA )
I've seen Paul loads of times live & he's so underated, just fantastic.
Paul isn't underrated in the slightest! Massively respected. How many people do you actually know who think he's rubbish?
IMO, the best version of a great song
Love love love this song🙏🏻
Excellant job on this wonderful old song.
Happy 70th birthday Paul Carrack!!!
I have NO idea how this song got stuck in my head ??.
But I had to find a way to hear it again 🎶🎶💕
A fabulous production. If only The Searchers had the same production facilities in the 60s.
I think you mean Jackie deshannon
@@pickashole Jackie De Shannon wrote a GREAT song, but I was referring to the actual production. The Searchers had the best version by far.

Great song which was originally brought to us by The Searchers(written by Jackie de Shannon). Paul Carrack has a brilliant voice.
Originally recorded by Jackie DeShannon then covered by the Searchers.
