I am so pleased you showed the contac paper backing process as I'd love to do that with one of my decks one day but I just wasn't sure how to go about it! Loved your method.
Finally took the plunge and rebacked my trimmed Dreaming Way tarot and it was so worth it....go for it, Lisa :) and thanks for the inspiration, Dawn Michelle!
I've been contemplating this deck for almost a year now because I'm so drawn to the artwork, but I also really notice it when a deck is curated instead of intentional sometimes. It frequently isn't as cohesive because it has the "square peg into a round hole" feeling on some of the cards, which is jarring. I wouldn't have thought of getting it with the intention of turning it into an intuitive deck, but this totally opens my mind to getting it with that as a possibility. Your deck mod is GORGEOUS, and I agree with you about the smaller corner, etc. Your journal is equally stunning and inspiring! Fantastic mod. Makes the deck ten times more useful!
Thank you so much, I had the same issue. I loved the artwork but just didn't jive with it as a Tarot. It works so much better for me now. I am glad you enjoyed the video. 🙂 Thank you for watching. ❤️
You are a bold tarotist. To make a decision to go borderless on John Bauer Tarot and go oracular on it. Amazing work. You inspire me. hmm... once things are back to normal, I might just purchase this deck. :)
What an amazing job !!! I didn’t know how you reback your deck, now i know ! Many thanks for your sharing. I prefer that deck like this and with the little corner 😉
Thank you very much! I will be doing a more detailed tutorial on rebacking a deck here soon, so that might be helpful for you as well. 😊 Thank you for watching!
At last, I’ve been hanging out for this, since you said you were modifying. I really didn’t know how to go about this one, didn’t like the backs, totally out of place and the borders are just too much. I love what you have done. Great job. Great result for the lovely images. Thank you so much 😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I do have a more detailed rebacking tutorial coming soon if you're looking for more info on that process. 😊 Thank you for watching!
I love this transformation :) I have used this tarot deck for 6 months. I think, it would be difficult to trim the deck and just forget about the titles of cards... But I would definitely do this with my next new art deck.
I do run into a bit of the same problem, I wish I would have done right from the start. The next art deck I get, I'm chopping it right out the gate. 😊 Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much! When I read with this deck I let the images tell me a story, sort of like reading a book. Maybe I'll make a video on that sometime. 😊
@@DawnMichelleTarot I'd love to see how you would do a totally intuitive reading with this deck. Like how would you incorporate that moose card?!?! hahaha
Thank you so much! Now that I think about it, I guess I just feel art decks work better more as an intuitive Oracle for me. I really enjoy making them. 😊 Thank you for watching!
i would love an in depth study video on the bauer tarot whenever you can manage it... id like to know what range this deck has especially now that it is unfettered, free of the tarot system. ..
I haven't tried a re-backing modification yet...but this def gives me some encouragement. I don't mind the design of the back of the John Bauer in theory, but it doesn't match the deck art and feel at all. How much contact paper roughly, is required to re back a 78 tarot deck?
Generally one decent size roll will work. I think I just used one for this one, but I had another deck that I accidentally bought a short roll and I needed two of them.
It looks super cool like this! I don't mind the backs but the weird green borders are def not my fave. I don't have this deck but if I did, I'd trim at least the top one, if not both like you 👌✨
Beautiful transformation! Where do you buy contact paper? Any experience with dollar store vs more expensive? I am ready to reback a couple of decks, particularly ones that weren't set straight at the printer. Namaste, Sadhana 💜
I generally buy it at my local hardware/home store now, I had some bad experiences with some paper I bought online (and spent a bit of money for.) The best I have found so far is just the basic contact brand one, it's like $10 at the home store. I do have a more in-depth rebacking tutorial coming next month that you might be helpful. 😊 Thank you so much for watching!
@@DawnMichelleTarot I look forward to that video! In the meantime, I will keep an eye out for contact paper for several decks I have in mind. Stay well, Sadhana
Beautiful! One question... The deck I edged with Crayola leaves behind color on my fingers, even after several days. Do you have any tips to stop that?
Hmm, interesting, what color did you use? I haven't had Crayola's do that, but it's good to know! I would try running a soft cloth or paper towel along the edges to see if you can get that residue off. If I think of anything else, I will be sure to let you know! I'd be curious to see if it's a certain color that bleeds.
@@DawnMichelleTarot It was Azure Blue from I think the Bold set of markers. I'll try the paper towel. I thought I'd be just fine since I also put some of the Distress black stamping ink on to darken and antique it. But it's blue fingers every time I've worked with it now. It has me nervous to do any of my others.
@@optimalwellnessyoga interesting, I wonder if it's the blue color, I have heard of blue sharpie doing the same thing. I'm surprised with the distressed ink over it that it would rub off through that. That is disappointing. Please let me know if the paper towel helps, in the meantime I'll do some testing with my blue and see if I can figure out anything else you can do. ❤️
Thanks so much for putting on this video. I learn so much from you.. Ty for all that u do. As I'm not an intuitive reader as of yet, I will need to number each card accordingly but wondered if you would share with me which pen would be best to use? Also wondering.. just throwing it out there 😊 would you consider selling your book that you put together for this deck? 🙏
If you are looking to write on the fronts of the cards, I use fine-tip sharpie for that. Seems to work pretty well. I just created a sort of cheat sheet for this deck so it's only a few pages, but if I can find it I would be happy to take a picture of it and send it to you. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️
