I think you actually played it the more complex than the way, Stewart Copeland plays it. I really like Stewart Copeland style however, he uses a lot of delay and does not execute as many notes on the high hat is people think. Essentially one sticky movement is making two sounds
Great cover but overall it's not super difficult. I worked with a reggae band for about 5 years. Once you understand the beat placement in reggae it's pretty easy to improvise this style of stuff.

He only uses the snare as a Snare once (2x) as a Peak note @ +3min and then back to being invisible for the fade out. Great Stuff. "Wrapped around your Finger" is another one where there seems to be no drumming until you see him (or someone) play it. He does not stop and barely sits down for it.
I would say masterful, which it is in accordance to the album track, but Stewart would say that it's perfect to this particular take, because he claims that he always played each take differently.
