Not only one of the best comedy performers of all time, but articulate incredibly intulectual, so very well educated and well read, i salute you/her lol, you will never fail to make me laugh, absolute one in a million, not just a national treasure, universal !!!!
I’ve never felt so saddened by the passing of a famous person as I am today, learning of the passing of the mighty Barry Humpries. RIP YOU ABSOLUTE LEGEND 🫡
Not since George Harrison died, can't believe we'll never see the genius that was Barry Humphries again!! Thank god for UA-cam!!! Rest Easy dear Mr Humphries
Thank you for all the belly laughs Barry, the other side will be the richer for having you there. What a gift to humanity you've been!! You're my hero ❤💐❤💐❤
His audience monologue an hour and a half in is abs FANtasTIC. Barry's true genius lies in the ad-lib element. I don't think there's a celeb/comic in all of Hollywood that can match his ability. Bravo! Simply outstanding.
Yes, he was a genius and part of this comes from him being extremely erudite. He was a scholar of literature and art as well as a brilliant actor, who disdained and critiqued the concept of 'celebrity'.
There is no doubt that Barry is extraordinary. How anyone could create such a wonderfully enticing reflection on ordinary people puts him in a league of his own.
I have never forgotten the time we went to a theatre just off Piccadily Circus in London in the 1970's. There was a large flashing neon sign amongst the lights at the Circus pointing to the theatre and saying "Lovely Australian Lady This Way". From the moment he stepped onstage to the curtain the whole audience was in fits of laughter. I'll never forget the disgusting bloke holding a drink who appeared from the back just behind us and shambled down to the stage spraying spit all over people on the way. It was, of course, Sir Les Patterson, a character I had never seen before. Unforgettable and a great loss, though all good things come to an end. Thanks Barry and Rest In Peace.
What a wonderful treat on a quiet, lonely Saturday evening here in East Coast USA ! A fantastic performance by all. Fun to see a couple characters that I've never met during performances I enjoyed, here in the US. And Dame Edna's closing fur reminded me of pal Liberace's opening coat. Entire show absolutely beautiful and entertaining. Thank you Mr Barry . . . and looking forward to another visit from Dame Edna to the US. ♥️♥️
OMG😂😂. What a legend. There will never be another. I have laughed with you for most of my life😅 I read yesterday morning that you were in high spirits. I saw last night you were gone. RIP Barry Humphries I have no words. ❤❤😢
This man was absolutely BRILLIANT. In both his comedic wit and overall intellect. He was a VERY learned and well read person despite the goofy characters he played. He certainly was one of a kind and i genuinely doubt ANYONE will ever replace his comedic genius. I hope your resting peacefully now Barry. And THANK YOU for all the great memories you left us with. God bless and put a smile on the lord's face up there.
Just came across this video, what a brilliant way to spend an hour or so, such talent, Mr Humphries is a genius and reads his audience so well, I regret that I have not been able to see him live, he's a real treasure and I feel all the better for watching this, what a gift he is.....😊
I'm under 40 and I luckily understand everything because of how I grew up and I'm so glad I do! I miss this kind of humour and daring. The witless insult and toilet humour of today along with the empty headed worshipped social media idiots of today are disappointing and painful to see.
Absolutely astonishing! Barry's characters are brassy, brazen, bold and beautiful. The subtle and sophisticated understanding, the intuitive intelligence, the simultaneous reverence and loathing of all things unworthy and banal, all form part of Humphries' extraordinary razor-sharp eye for detail and his deep, thoroughgoing humanity.
No one is more political uncorrect than the australian (star) diplomat Sir Les Patterson! I LOVE IT! ❤ Thanks and thanks again - for laughs during the years - from a true norwegian fan!! And thanks to carldpatterson, for uploading this masterpiece! 👍 And of course - Dame Edna is also sensational, astonishing, enchanting - and a bit stunning, as well! 😁
Evening in Paris perfume …and Ponds cream….jiving on a Wednesday and Saturday night. Never heard a swear world and never drank..It was great….you are missing a lot today..I WISH I COULD GO BACK….Ho! How I wish…….Miss you Dame Edna …
I thought I'd dip into a few minutes of this before turning in for the night, but once Sir Les belted his way through "Up Those Foreign Parts," I was a goner. I have to say his two dancers were icing on the cake.
A real Humphries tour de force, one man on stage for 2 1/2 hours, what a show! I was lucky enough to have seen Dame Edna on stage in 2016, but here are 3 more characters plus the man himself. Edna was bad taste posing as elegance, egotism posing as humility, cruelty posing as compassion, stinginess posing as generosity - all the defining postures of modern society, politics and celebrity - and somehow making it the funniest thing ever. I’ve never laughed so much in all my 80 years. Genius.
Les Patterson's Australian Cheese Board jollity , although told routinely , both in his performances and interviews , invariably cracks me up perhaps more than any other humorous banter in his repertoire . I laugh so exhaustingly that it hurts !
Regarding his first home, in Scotland the local authority would have crammed three separate homes into this building. The typical approach being to provide a roof over the head of the "cattle".
Has anyone seen this particular incarnation of the wonderful Mr. Humphries, at any time, in the same close physical environs as the piano-playing Jools Holland - concurrently, at the same time etc, as it were for instance?
Wonderful! Brilliant! Sad to know we now only have these records to enjoy, but grateful we have. Can anyone say what Alexander Horace Stone’s final lines were. They seem to have cut out of the youtube & were clearly the most poignant in a moving performance! Can anyone help. ?
Thanks for your videos. If you ever get a chance could you reupload the stand up show you had. I know it was taken down but it would be great seeing it again
There was a copyright claim on a song. UA-cam Studio said that I could either cut the audio, or cut the 1 minute video and audio. I chose to just cut the audio. The song was "As Time Goes By".
@@BobbyBenson85 But you know Beryl, she didn't mind going back to the facility and the Korean carers. Because she had forgotten about her toiletries and the thirsty hydrangea and the lost slipper. You see she'd been down to St. Kilde. She could hear the music again. I was never much of a dancer. But Beryl used to like to sing when she was dancing, save talking. I never said anything, just "Sorry". "Sorry", I was sorry too. I am sorry.

I understand. Do you think you could re-upload it with the video cut instead? It was a very poignant and sad moment it the monologue. I think it's the culmination of the piece and more important to hear it. I appreciate the upload nonetheless. Thank you for sharing this.
Fook, never realised the Les Patterson character sprouted such an amount homophobic stuff. This hasn't aged well. "My characters are supposed to offend". Really ? So why not do a Nazi ? Where do you draw the line ?
What a talented, intelligent, witty and brave comedian. I adore Barry Humphries!

Absolutely a comic genius.
What a timeless and extraordinary talent, we are so lucky to have lived to witness.
The stories of the gentle pranks he did on buses and trains were hysterical. Such a delightful man. 🌿💘

Brilliance incarnate ⭐️
Never ever will be another even slightly similar to the inimitable BH!
Thank you so much for posting this. I saw this show in London a long time ago. I never thought I would see the Alexander Horace Stone routine again.
Oh, what a joy. Been to a few of her shows. Dragged on stage twice. The best moments of my life. Thank God for Barry Humphries.
Ubsolute genius. RIP Barry HUMPHREY'S. ❤❤😢😢😢

So much has changed in the last 20 years that much of this would have to be explained to people under 40 today.

So funny, so sad though another comedy gem gone.
It's now 2022..and if Ian and Samantha got over the last 19 years..they will be fine.
We all miss you bazza! 💜💜💜💜❤️🧡💜💚💜

Saw Edna on Broadway in 2005. Hands down the funniest show I ever had the good fortune to witness. Breathtakingly, shockingly funny.
The distance of the house from the street is STILL a defining social status marker in the US.
Unrivalled
The most intelligent and funny man ever lived
He was the greatest!
He is the Best Ever

It's a loss, all the joy and wisdom of barry humphries. RIP
A piece of Australia has just died. So, so sad.
Brilliant entertainer a true artiste, original characters he created, a gift to humor
He learnt a great deal watching Melbournites - possums and koalas
He was in my opinion a genius.
RIP
SADLY we can't book for an edna show anymore. How sad. R I P our dear |Edna
RIP Genius 😢❤

Classic! Do a ComeBack. Baz, please.
He died yesterday. Aged 89
If only
Les Patterson had fabulous legs…….
Wonderful! Brilliant! Sad to know we now only have these records to enjoy, but grateful we have.

Ian Thorpe, famous swimmer.

Melbourne fashioned and nurtured this man's stupendous talent, which, alas, my own hedonistic city of Sydney could never accomplish.
Yet he made Sydney his Australian home
