@@MrRockingRambo It's in the OST actually, the name is 'Personal Midget/Cain's Ballroom'. I always get really emotive when i listen to this particular piece.
The Motorcycle Boy was too much for this World. He was too esoteric to see and truly understand despite being wise beyond his years. This was the inevitable end. A SALUTE, TO RUSTY JAMES AND THE MOTORCYCLE BOY.... TWO PRETTY COOL DUDES
Yeah, even when i first watched it at 13, i felt that, even without knowing how to put it into words. The character always seems like he has everything figured out and got uninterested of the world because of that.
2:05 Right around here. Best part of the movie. When we see Rusty James in Colour, we see his POV for the first time. All the black and white stuff, is the Motorcycle Boy's POV. He's colourblind so it makes sense. With the fish only in colour because they interest him. So they stick out. Here, Rusty's been going his own way, but it wasn't until he beat the Colour out of his view, that he finally saw things his Brother's way.
Thank you for this comment my man most People seem to miss that probably because they’d didn’t read the actual book which in my opinion is one of the best books ever written for young teens.
@@Dr.Gainzzz The book wouldn't have helped. The fish died and Rusty didn't go to California until after he was released from Jail. Though to be honest, I think the Movie's ending was a lot better. Helped by the fact that S.E. Hinton and Francis Ford Coppola wrote the screenplay. Meaning if she was ok with it, FFC could change it. Assuming the ending change wasn't her idea that is.
Another thing. The fish going their seperate ways represent the people that left him. His mom, Patty, Smokey and Motorcycle Boy. The lone red fish that looked like it didn't know where to go, is Rusty James.
it is here on youtube! ;) listen from 3:43 min >> ua-cam.com/video/BzOQY-hAaCk/v-deo.html. unfortunately it is not 100% exactly the same as in the movie
Kubrick could never shoot this script, at least not with the perfect style the movie has, Kubrick was too much of a perfeccionist to use some camera angles, intentional messed up audios and purposeful b movie feel.
@@fernandomaron87 Yes, but heading towards the water seems kind of harmless. And back then, police had less reason to be afraid. But I suppose youre right. Its mot WHAT he was doing, but WHO he was.
The cop shoots him for the same reason the Romans kills Jesus. Why did The Motorcycle Boy come back ? He came back to save us, to save his brother, to show that California (money, success, colors, fame and so on) got no way. Listen to their father: The Motorcycle Boy is not from this world. He came back to tell us what to do: follow the river. Don't stop to California because it's only a lure. Go to the ocean.
You just shot his brother and say he's "A little upset"? I think he was more than a little upset, plus what he was doing was hardly a shooting offense...
idk honestly i think in the book he was in the cop car and broke the window and climbed out cuz the door was locked but still maybe bc it was the 60s and glass for cars was easy to break
That's not the problem. The scene shows that Rusty James breaks his old image, he breaks his image in the mirror because he's no more the man he was. Why did The Motorcycle Boy come back ? In the novel it was stated that the Motorcycle Boy was born in the wrong time. He was good at everything and never found anything he wanted to do.

Best underrated movie ever.
It's actually over rated. I mean its Avery good film, but its considered a classic...and maybe it is.

Soundtrack is by Stewart Copeland, drummer for the Police. Great stuff.
The song in this scene is Stewart Copland - Personal Midget. You're welcome.
