Jamey said at one point that they didn't include the feet because then the seven dual layered mech mats didn't fit in the insert anymore, they were too tall.
For expansions you should put a link to the original game's review in the description. I can't be the only on that goes back to og reviews when expansions come out, so it'd be nice to have a quick link to get to it
The starting worker/resources is an essential inclusion for me, and the upgraded mech mats are amazing. If the expansion was just those things it would be already be a must have for me. The new content is also just nice, and the corrupted mech seems nice for low play counts (though I doubt I'll ever bother with it cause my group tends to be 4-5 players). This is definitely an expansion I would recommend to everyone who likes the base game.
I think the "news desk" is great. Are the logos said and done? May I suggest a strip in the upper portion of the framed area - say 9"-12" tall - with alternating logos along it? (Like a news crawl!) That way they will be 100% in frame. Though I do like the logos with only the dark wood backing them. That said, I don't think one 12" logo would look right in the 12 o'clock position in that big square. Three smaller logos could work. Something like 12" Dice Towers in the upper corners, and a 9" Allplay between them? (Or whatever sizes work best, obviously.) The current logos are great and could be used as wall decor in another studio; I just don't think they're being used to their full potential here. (What is "allolau"???)
It's the kind of game where the play time is essentially minutes per player times the number of players. So it's just longer overall and more downtime between your turns. There's a bit more blocking interaction with more players, where more tiles might help. I think to really bring it in line, you'd need to play to 3 stars or lower the goals to fewer cards tucked or corruption gained and so forth. That's going to make it feel like you do less compared to lower player counts.
1-3 players it’s awesome. Not so much an expansion but like a course correction for the game. Really nice addressing like every gripe I had with the game. Speeding up the game is interesting because it dramatically changes beginning of game. Entire different vibe.
A great expansion for fans of the game. I get so tired of expansions “changing the game”. Don’t change the game too much! I like the game! lol. I love more stuff expansions.
I played base game recently at 4 players and it almost as good as 3 players. Actions are really fast and the game only slowed down on that one player turn that took some more time to think.
Most of their games play to 6 with expansions. Tapestry, Pendulum, Apiary, and Wyrmspan are currently the only ones that play to 5. Apiary and Wyrmspan may change with expansions as well, we don’t know yet. Wingspan has a 6-7 player expansion so I’d assume Wyrmspan will get that too if the game was popular enough. Also if we want to include Smitten that’s only a 2 player game but ya know… we ain’t talkin about Smitten I don’t think lol.
I want this expansion but the price point of $30 is tough. If compared to other expansions of that price, I think Dune Imperium Immortality and Ark Nova Marine World added more to their respective games. Maybe in the future when it’s on sale😅
Please stop with the sudden jump cuts to Mike D. when he goes to talk. Take a note from ESPN FC on how they keep in the left frame two or three hosts and pundits, and the remote guests are left in a large right frame. They only jump cut to the guest if they are speaking for a long time. This might shrink the new desk and AllPlay logo in a smaller left frame, but it will prevent seizures in your viewing audience ;-) .
So sad that the artist Jakub Rozalski is a plagiarist who tried to pass off images produced by tracing others' work, as freehand drawn. And that Jamie Stegmaier defended him.
There's not one iota of evidence that he ever traced. In fact every example is off enough that it would be harder to trace that way, it's clear he just used photo references which is totally within fair use which is the actual rule he has to abide by not something cooked up on twitter about always crediting everything.
i hope this isn't the new way to release games? as in, release the game, not quite finished, but close enough, save a few 'major corrections' for the 'expansion'
Next step to this whole new desk layout - have Mike record on a green screen and virtually put him behind the desk, ha! 😆
@@phunkysai that’s actually very doable 😂
Actually I vote for giant holographic head of Mike on the desk.
I was thinking the exact same thing!
Mike IS the desk!
The changes feel like the Prelude expansion for Terraforming Mars... Absolute MUST expansion for me.

Oh!!! That desk looks so sick! Nice job, DT!

LOVE the new desk! DT keeps getting better and better, more and more refined.
Great conversation. What could be potential solutions to the scaling issue? More tiles?

Love the table too. I bet it makes it much easier for you guys too.

Props to whomever came up with the youtube title
Ooooh I love the table!
Love the new desk!

Pretty sure there were feet that came with the base game so you could lift the player boards up a bit.
Yes but Jamie himself has admitted that if you add them to the new boards they become too large to fit in the box. :\
@@mattmazzullo2194 oh well that’s not good.

Interesting that SM games added up to 6 players. They typically just like to do 1-5.

Im excited to grab a copy at Gencon! Well, but me....but Missy!

Mike’s right, the original game came with sticky feet for the mech cards
It does, but the expansion doesn't come with new ones for the new mech boards.

For me this is a 10/10 expansion. Unfortunately the Ironclad version was sold out before the day ended when it was released. Nonsense.
dice tower videos always have that strange public access music and transition effects. Id want to put a crt filter and 4:3 it
It always makes me laugh that Tom always refers to Jamie as “he” but if you don’t know who “he” is can be kinda confusing 😂

Not much tbh. Such a tame and restrained expansion. Playing it so so safe and merely pushing this from a 6/10 to a 6.5/10 for me
Not much in the box. Doesn't seem to be worth it.
