sometimes you dip when birding

In the birding community, to "dip" means to not find the bird you were looking for and hoping to see (as I recently learned on our Sax-Zim Bog birding trip).
Austin and I went birding on Easter morning. We didn't see the brown thrasher or the blue-headed vireo that we were hoping to find, but we did find plenty of other birds, including fox sparrows, horned grebes, bufflehead, and even a loon.

I wish! Had to work today, sadly, but I was able to pop outside for the moment of totality, and that video clip will be in my next race training vlog! It was an incredible sight to see 🌙✨☀️
