    As an American, I am angry that there are so many people here saying "Destroying your community is not the right way to protest!" But did they listen when Kapernick knelt at football games? Did they listen to the any of the peaceful protests that the Black Lives Matter movement has held? Did they listen to any of the other various pleas to end police brutality? Absolutely not. Violence is not always the answer, but what are people that are being oppressed and murdered supposed to do when those in charge not only allow, but now wholeheartedly encourage racially based violence? Buildings can be rebuilt. New cars can be bought. Stores have insurance that covers stolen goods. But there is no replacement for the loved ones now gone. There is no way to bring back the dead. It absolutely disgusts me to know that so many Americans don't care enough to say anything when someone's life is taken unjustly but are bemoaning the "unnecessary violence" of these riots. If anything, those who have the luxury of feeling like these riots aren't needed or justified should thank god that they have never had to worry that they, or a loved one, could be violently targeted by the police at any time and for any reason. I say burn it all down, and rebuild an America that is better for everyone, not just rich white people.

Although LAPD has made some positive changes, the underlying racism is still there. The reasons behind the 1992 riots (such as systemic racism, massive economic disparity, etc.) remains 28 years later. The lack of change makes me sick. I feel powerless to help or make a real difference. All these protests and riots come from such a deep, aching place of pain. I remember hearing from someone that these days black parents have to have “the talk” with their black children, as in what to do if you encounter police, what to do to stay alive. And that is their reality. There’s something powerful about the fact that the whole world is taking notice of what’s happening. This isn’t right. Your video was cathartic in a way. for those concerned: we are revolting. it’s no longer isolated incidents and one rioting city. our cops are SCARED. they’re out in droves right now. protests and demonstrations are taking place in every city in our nation. even here in the south(oklahoma, a historically conservative state) we have had enough. the police force has gone too far, and they’ve crossed the rubicon this time. the people are not lying down any longer. i don’t know how foreign news platforms are framing these events, but please don’t accept anything from an american company as the whole truth. do your research, please. the people are fighting for the rights of our brothers and sisters to live. we are working to destroy a system built on the fear of the affluent and the graves of the impoverished. we are NOT the “thugs” that the commander in cheeto called us. we are speaking the only language they seem to hear- money and property. they are more outraged about the financial damage than the innocent lives ended and families torn apart. don’t let trump, or anyone else saying otherwise, fool you.

    Covid. The stock market crash. And now the uprisings across the country.
    People have been saying this somewhat in jest for a few months now, but 2020 may legitimately be the year America falls.
    And strangely enough, as an American, I honestly can't say I'm that bothered by the prospect.
    America has always touted itself as a virtuous and egalitarian nation, and in some rare cases it has led the world in certain noble revolutions like democracy and secular ideals. But America has so rarely lived up to its ideals and fallen so far behind the rest of the developed world in nearly every aspect. If it falls, it deserves to.

      It really is difficult I think. Peaceful protests didn't work, but at the same time I don't agree that destruction is the answer, especially as a lot of it seems indiscriminate (destroying random cars, random buildings etc) but I think the indiscriminate destruction is mostly from people who are just using the revolt as an excuse to be reckless.

The reason it's become a revolt is because they ignored the peaceful protests, what other option do people have? Let police abuse their power and kill innocent people??
      No one's saying all the police suck, it's the system that sucks and many of the police are not acting lawfully. That's all we want, for authorities to be lawful and have the communities best interest at heart rather than themselves.

      @@TheLugiaSong That's why protesters loot shops, restaurants and houses, burn cars, throw stones and other stuff on policemen and innocent bystanders and shoot at cops. Because they protest violence.
      And with people refusing to call the movement "All lives matter" combined with some caling for violence on white people and non-blacks being banned from BLM-Meetings, it's also no surprise that some people call them racist.

    • @TheLugiaSong
      @TheLugiaSong 4 роки тому

      @@gustafmannerheim4260 I agree that those who are using violence are in the wrong. However, it should be recognized that many people who are doing that are people using the movement as an excuse to do so and don't actually represent the movement. You can agree with a movement and not agree with all the action of the individuals.
      The reason it's called "black lives matter" isn't to say that other races don't matter, but that apparently it needs to be said, because it doesn't seem like they're being treated equally. Of course every life matters, but when a group is being treated unfairly that needs to be the main focus of the moment. Once again, if people are being racist against anyone in this movement you can still support the movement without supporting those individuals. I won't stand for racism against any race, yet I whole heatedly support the purpose of this movement.

      A man was killed recently in Minneapolis by a police officer. His name was George Floyd. He was suffocated under a police officers knee. They didn't stop even after the man passed out and was bleeding from his nose. This is the tipping point, and right now there's all out riots in the names of the countless of people killed by police brutality against people of color.

    • @SilentGlaceon94

      This past week, an African American man named George Floyd was murdered by a police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Floyd was handcuffed and on his stomach, yet the officer put his knee on Floyd's neck for approximately nine minutes. The incident was labeled as a "medical crisis" by the local police, but a video that was captured by a teenager told an entirely different story.
      The US has a long history of police brutality against the African American population and other non-black minorities. Despite similar incidents happening over the years, not a single cop has been convicted of murdering an innocent citizen. What makes this story especially egregious is that the cop who murdered Floyd had a history of abusing his power and that he had murdered several individuals before this tragedy, including a Native American.
      Phil DeFranco has a video going into full detail about Floyd's murder. I highly reccomend you watch that video. I hope this helps.
