Colorado Solo on my Honda Africa Twin, Part 1

The best laid plans sometimes fall apart. I originally intended on riding the Colorado BDR (backcountry discovery route) from Cortez CO, to the Wyoming state line on my 2017 Honda Africa Twin. Due to a muscle strain early on in my trip, it changed into, doing the first section of the bdr, plus Orphir Pass, and then US 550 north, to US 50 east. Am I bummed that I didn't complete my original plan? Of course. But I have no regrets about the adjusted plan either! No matter what, it was an amazing journey. This is part 1, the passage across the Great Plains, from Smithville MO to La Junta CO.

CO native here, just picked up an Africa Twin. I always tell folks that eastern CO is nothing more than western KS. Lots of rural farm and ranch lands, the heartland and home of hard working Americans!
