  • In this episode of Hidden Secrets, Allen Tiller brings you a condensed history of the foundation of the town of Salisbury, South Australia, and a little about its founder, and his family, John Harvey.
*Please note: the photo labelled 'John and Anne Harvey' at 1:54-2:03 minutes is annotated incorrectly, it should read 'John Pitman and Ann Harvey 1915.' (The man in the photo is her brother, not her husband). The original photo is available here: flic.kr/p/2h6CGvb

It has been recorded by many botanists that John Harvey did NOT bring the Soursob into South Australia. He was supposed to have "Bought a pot of it", in South Africa for 5/-. His only visit to South Africa was as an 18 year old labourer, on the way out from the UK with his employer, Allan MacFarlane, he was "below decks", and would NOT have had 5/- to his name. The photo you show of "John and Ann Harvey", is of Ann Harvey and her brothers, Tom and John Pitman...I have the original of this photo. Also, your first photos show John as a dark swarthy man, with curly hair. Your photo of him laying the foundation stone of St. John's Church see him as a very small, very dark man.....that IS John Harvey! John was the son of a an African slave, from St. Helena, hence his swarthy appearance.

since this channel has haunt involved in it I'm going to share a story.
this is the only time in my life I have had such an experience, or am I a real believer.
A friend and I were sitting in the big park across the road from the old spot hotel that runs into Salisbury, it was 3 am and we were sitting in silence, not a word was said during the whole experience. We both turned to a squeaking sound coming towards us and saw a man in like 100 years plus of age riding a very old bike coming towards us, but the guy was like a luminous 3 dimensional movie in black and white, he rode past us and just disappeared into an area that had a cliff down to the river, it was a dead end heading towards Salisbury
