Cool to see how often he doesn’t play the root of the chord on beat one. As a novice walker I always try to play the root on beat one but this shows it isn’t always necessary. Thanks for posting
I think it's a good rule to use when learning, but you can be more flexible when you want to make art.
Not just that, if U`ve seen other greats like Ron, Chambers, Brown most of the time they maintain walking on half and first position on bass. That`s is one of the secrets of the sauce. Mastering all these small details is hard working man.
Thanks for this, it’s a great help even for non bass players!!
Thanks! I am glad you found it useful.
Helps me too. As a jazz pianist I want to work on my basslines.
Thanks so much. Retired guy with time for this!
Yes
Thanks! Very .. very... but very GOOD!!!
Very nice work again… Thank you.. Merci
YES
Wow. He ignores A7 most of the time and plays 45 instead of 2 5 often. There’s even a moment he plays Bb over A7…. Curious to see what’s going on in his head. Pretty sure he’s thinking function most of the time… the line is headed in x direction so he just makes sure to land on the 1 4 and 5 moments and other things are… flexible
Where can I get a PDF of the bassline to use with my students?
Do someone know which strings is he using here?
where did you get this track, thank you
Hi! You can find it on youtube.
Oh yeah
