Every time I search a particular question I end up finding the answer in your videos without searching for you specifically. Has happened like 4 times now. Great channel.
Just found your channel. I haven't made a knife in over 40 years. I have a forge on the way and can't wait to get started. Great work love your channel
Beautiful finish. I’m not a fan of micarta but seeing what you did with burlap micarta my view on it has changed. I’m curious as to how you got the angle of the joint pieces cut perfectly
Great question. I used a circular grinder with a table to make sure angle on both sides were the same. Here is a video I did on the process. ua-cam.com/video/GGSrJuwY8z4/v-deo.html
@@DIYeasycrafts the chop saw with one pass on the blank and then yea the strips on a table saw. I haven’t done this yet but you have made it easy. I glue my scales with ha quick 5 minute epoxy. I’m sure that would work too, right. Not as fast as what you have but it will work.
I cut the wood scales with a chop saw but the important part is I cleaned up the cut on an angle grinder with 90 degree table. That way everything fits perfectly. 5 min epoxy will work but its much harder to clamp in place. I just hold mine together for 30 sec and its secure. Dont forget I use good epoxy to glue liners to scales so they end up being very strong
I use painters tape to secure both scales together and then use chop saw to cut the angle. I then clean up cut end on a 12 inch disc grinder 120 grit paper. You have to make 100% sure that both pcs are exact before you glue the segments, Otherwise end results will not lign up. I will show the process in upcoming video. Yeah no problem at all. I get them from Mcmaster Carr but I think Grainger also has them. Did a video on removable scales. Even has the part #s I used ua-cam.com/video/HB1a3NiVBB4/v-deo.html
It really depends on the materials. Because of the quick set time CA glue make the entire process much easier. For some materials like water buffalo horn I use CA to attach all the pcs together and than epoxy to glue the assembly to liner
I'm just starting out and had an issue with the green compound getting into the grain of the wood. Any tips on what compound to use to keep this from happening?
Do you recommend using CA glue or epoxy to attach the scales to the liners? In one of your other videos you used epoxy to do this so I'm just curious, or does it depend on what liner material you use?
Fantastic job
Love that burlap it gives it a snake skin look.
What I like about Dan's video is he takes time to explain his process for the benefit of those who aren't familiar with knife making.
Thanks Patrick
New sub! Beautiful work! Thanks for sharing! 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏
Thanks and welcome
Very nice! You make it look so easy! Lol
Pretty. I might try something similar

Thanks Dan! Always enjoy the down to earth videos.
Thank for the feedback Allan Benjamin

Thank you for the great information. I found every detail to be helpful.
Cool knife handles.I like the spacer material.

Nice!!!
What materials have you had good results from for spacers. The materials for these scales looked great.
Curious why you used super glue instead of quick setting epoxy?
I only use the super glue for the segment. I use epoxy to glue to liners. I just find it dries faster
Sure wish someone would show how you cut the scales at the exact same angle at the exact same place I can’t find a video that shows that.

DIYeasycrafts fantastic thank you so much
please source those press clamps
Nothing special I got them at Harbor Freight
which screw did you used for tightening the handle?
BTW I LIKED IT VERY MUCH.. LOVE FROM INDIA.❤️
Looks great. I can ask where are you getting your stand-off hardware from?

Thank you for the info. I'm going to try hybrid scales real soon. Do you think CA glue is better than a marine epoxy?

I have tried both and like epoxy to attach scales to blade. CA to attach scales to liners
What are the spacers made of
I actually buy the spacer material from USA Knifemaker. Use to make my own micarta liners but store bought has a more consistent thickness
What size and where did you get them cap screws? Is that what they are called ? I have been wondering how to do that. Thank you.
nice knife there, however I am having difficulty hearing what your saying. your speech is a bit low.
Sorry
