2b2t: Minecraft's Society Experiment

- Опубліковано 7 чер 2024
- 2b2t is the oldest anarchy server on the most well-known video game of all time. Its history dates back over a decade, and in that time it's developed something entirely unheard of in the realm of games entirely. Minecraft's original anarchy sandbox may have seen the rise of an entire civilization, or it may not have. Let's take a look.

you sound like a 14 year old version of the joker LMFAO
I got recommended this after watching a video from SalC1, and I thought this video would have a few million views. It certainly has mass appeal. Great video!
also if a anarcky server had hardcore things would be alot different
@@zh9664 you sound like your profile picture
Games have been around for more like 70 years.
this channel has a lot of potential. the quality, aesthetic, sound, narration, its all impressive. cant wait until you hit 1M!
Pffftt… he’ll blast past 1 mil so quick he won’t even realise it. I have insider knowledge that suggests his channel is close to parabolic growth until at least May.
I feel like the video doesn't do a great job at catching your attention, most people will click off within the first 30 seconds
Agreed!
As a 2b2t player myself, 29:43 really stuck out to me.
“No direction but that which the player imposes on themselves, no limits but that which the player is not willing to overcome, and no rules but those which the player chooses to create.” In my opinion, this mantra summarizes what 2b2t is in a very good way. Thank you for this.
Truly a masterwork video, KRB!
That last part about 2b2t not having any consequences and the consequences (hehe) of that in its emergent behavior is a very interesting point that I've never heard before. The fact that 2b2t history is often framed in a way similar to dramatized depictions of actual history helps to obscure this fact, in my opinion. By creating parallels between history and 2b2t history, we obscure the nuances that both have.
One thing to me that’s incredible to me as an outsider to 2b2t is the sheer level of innovation for finding ways to bypass certain measures Housemaster puts in place. For example the ways in which people travel is constantly changing due to anti cheat changes so it’s like a constant cat and mouse game between the players and the admin.
Even as a newer 2b player, it's fascinating how the old players can manipulate the narrative for sometimes YEARS (check out project 'no comment') and still come out on top.
I've often wondered what a server like this would be like if people _could_ permanently die, a hardcore anarchy server with the same reach as 2B2T so it doesn't die out after the first few weeks due to everyone being dead.
People might be more hesitant to outright destroy things due to the possibility of them dying in the siege, order could be maintained, wars would have real consequences (Even if it's just paying for another Minecraft account).
I would love if Hausemaster ran an experiment like this. The only problem is, if it's an 'experiment', it has that same sense of impermanence and a relative lack of consequences without the longevity of 2B2T proper.
I messed around on an adjacent anarchy server called Civcraft (then later civcraftlegacy) which sort of emulated that;
The End was retooled into a massive "prison" for players who were killed when the killer was holding a certain item. That item could be used to set the player banished to the end free.
These items (called prison pearls) were HIGHLY sought after, and stored deep within gigantic vaults that players would expend hundreds of in-game hours building
Glad I could share some of my world downloads this video turned out awesome!
As a 2b2t player, this video is actually very well made, well done.

I’ve always wanted to join 2b2t but I have lacked a good quality computer. In the meantime I have been studying the server to prepare myself fully for survival in such a hell-hole
it isnt that hard tbh all u need is a boat, a lil food, and some tools
dont sweat it
all you need is just a bit of time as you can just die until you reach a highway
as long as you don't starve it shouldn't be too hard
bruh I joined after seeing 1 video and made it out of spawn first try during a youtuber invasion, it's not bloody hard
@Esh no dip
Unless you have the money to fork over 20-30 dollars for a good hacked client, i wouldnt recommend playing for long.
UM EXCUUUUUUSE ME?!?!
I DONT KNOW WHO YOU ARE, BUT THIS WAS LITERALLY, SO WELL EDITED AND SO WELL TOLD.
ONLY 30k subscribers, and barely 15k views. THIS NEEDS MILLIONS . YOU DID SUCH A GREAT JOB
wow I’m freaking subbing I can’t believe how good this was wowow I hope u get more subs 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
must say , this has been my favorite video of yours
it's extremely well edited , and well researched as well
good job on this one
Definitely worth the work KRB, great job with this one!
Thanks for punching me in the face with that Pepper Steak 11:44
A 2b2t video on 2s day... I see what you did there
I have played Minecraft since 2011 and been on 2b2t since 2016. I must say is one of the most amazing 2b2t videos I've ever seen, very well done. I myself am a 2b2t historian, I spend all my time looking for old bases and signs and trying to uncover the stories behind them. I have always been intrigued with history irl and once I found 2b, I knew it was going to be my digital home. The quality of this video was incredible and I am def subbing because of it. Great work man!
why doesn't this have more views? seriously, it should've hit half a million by now
wow, I was not expecting you to make a video about 2b2t
The story behind space valkra III.
It's an epic by its self.
They're still texts being discovered.
This is such a good/cool channel! So good at informational videos
These videos are so good I genuinely don't understand how they're not popular yet
This is an incredibly well done video. In the intro it almost felt like I was watching a documentary. Well... I really felt that the whole video. I don't know how this only got 2k likes, but I know it deserves a lot more. This is incredibly impressive. Great, astonishing, amazing job making this.
Brb showing this to a victorian child
The weird thing about humans is we have free will we can do whatever we want but are brains can't comprehend that so we restrict our selves and limit what we can do or be
as a 2b player, this by far one of the most accurate videos from a outsiders perspective ive seen in awhile, great job my man
This is the best video you have ever made
You should look/relate 2b2ts response to loss of control/external threats to their normal. Great content so far, I look forward to your future videos...
As a 2b2t player, This video was extremely acurate and to the point, well done man.
lol the fact I knew what event you where talking about at 20:08 before you said it happened in 2b2t is such a trip to me 😂
Having a historical event from a video game that I learned about somewhere else, being mentioned in another video feels so weird in my mind thinking about that and the connection. I love 2b :)
Plot twist: 2B2T is a sociological experiment run by Harvard.
11:44 Peppered Steak is by far one of the best intro themes I've seen used to introduce 2b2t.
This look at things certainly has given me a bit more of an insight and respect for the concept of an Anarchy server overall, especially the archeology bit, absolutely love that fact.
Hell yeah! OFF soundtrack!
cant wait for a hardcore mode anarchy server
Horizon anarchy hehe
Edit:i forgot they unban all players making it not hardcore
I genuinely thought you where a youtuber with 1mil+ subs because of your production value. but nope your just doing it for the love at this point, you got my subscription.
This was so well edited like woahh
I don't usually like videos but this one was really well executed and edited. The narrative was really good too, and the content you presented is also really interesting. It must have taken you weeks to do this! All in all 10/10, for all of that you truly deserve my like and many other's, good job!
In regards to Death, The Horizons made a hardcore anarchy server. Because of this, very little pvp is done for this reason.
the giant obsidian creations are a great example of groups / governmental bodies / working together etc
Dude everything about this video was so great! Your analysis is on point and your editing is crazy.
Absolutely wonderful editing and pacing. You've more than earned a subscriber!
wow i love your videos so much. they are so well produced for the recognition they get.
Damnn this is so high quality, Good job! The points were carried thoroughly and clearly. I have a real short attention span but this really catched my attention.
I just discovered your videos and it seems like you put a lot of time into your research. The visuals you choose really compliment the stories you tell, just seeing some of those old minecraft textures as well as the alpha lighting was very nostalgic. I also like your intro, it reminds me of when I pick up a wifi signal and UA-cam goes out of data saver.
Excellent video. Your editing has improved so much since I last watched one of your videos!
i just binged a bunch of ur videos and i gotta say, you have incredible editing skills. glad i found this channel and i hope many others follow suit. great channel
You deserve wayy more subs for making such high quality videos! Great stuff!!
Wonderful video, Captain. The cinematic shots of the map are amazing and the commentary, well, it's on another level.
the fact that this only has 9k views is stupid. incredible video!
Roses are red,
To master this server takes a dark craft,
for FitMC always calls this place,
"ThE oLdEsT aNaRcHy SeRvEr iN mInEcRaFt"
I just want to say thanks for making these great videos even though they don't get the attention they deserve. These are amazing, I shared you to my friends.
damn as a person who played 2b before it died this is pretty good ngl
@Baaasg late response, but before hause pretty much prio banned everyone
This is incredibly impressive. Hats off to you, and keep up the good work.
Awesome video man. Cant wait to see this channel in thw millions. Got here at 39.5 k.
I imagine that a reason people build such amazing structures in such a perilous is to create consequence. When we invest time, we invest life, when that is destroyed it is like a percentage of your real death. A part of your life has been destroyed.
But this may also be why people there are so invested in their own mythology, from the wiki, to the epic efforts they will invest in monuments to their worthiness of being remembered.
When 11 years is a very long time and all your efforts will soon be in ruin, it’s only the memories and the stories that remain.
Best 2b2t-related video I've seen in a while. Nothing short of amazing.
This is a remarkable documentary! I honestly did know some things about 2b2t, but this makes me very eager to hear more about the server again.
Dang when rude buster kicked in when the thing said “anarchy” I was like O.O
7:58 *MATPAT WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A CHAT*
This is really well made, i hope this channel will get far because of its potential.
Love the videos!!! Great thanks!
Damn lad this video is superb! Keep on with the amazing work.
It'd be fascinating to see how long adding just the simple addition of the hardcore route would drastically change 2b2t's or something like it. The consequence for death, a loss of everything. There would have to be specific changes (See wild teleports upon server first load) to prevent spawn-locking but it'd be different for sure.
This video was absolutely great!! Keep up the awesome work! Cheers! :)
Love the video! You could talk about Minecraft Skyblock, that aslo has some form of cultuure and stuff of the sorts!
Insane vid , insta subbed ... im really looking forward to see what u upload later on
This wan an EXTREMELY quality video!
Well done!
'-' very well detailed. nice
Underrated video, and definitely the best 2b2t documentary I've seen.
bonus points for not being biased
11:49 Loving the Deltarune music followed by - much to my surprise - OFF music! Love to see my favorite indie RPG soundtracks in a well-made UA-cam video!
Good video
hi vincent
this is actually really interesting, and was a good watch as a 2b2t player
one point i'd like to make though:
parallels between real history and 2b2t is very common, and even players themselves notice them all the time
for example, the spawnmasons on 2b2t are very similar to the free masons in real life
@MaxRockatasky yea
As one of the leaders of the Spawnmasons, I can say for certain that its nothing like the freemasons IRL. Max is just mad that we stole his stash with nocom.

RIP 2b2t. You will be missed
Ive recently rediscovered you and i can tell you that im surprised you arent in the hundreds of thousands of subscribers, your editing style is like disrupt, i like it

As a 2b plazer this video is pretty accurate
Really well done video. As a 2b2t player, I'm impressed! Keep it up!
This is fucking amazing. Amazing job, u got a new sub and deserve thousands more.
This is an amazingly well made video. I'm surprised it has so few views. You've earned yourself a like and a subscription!
1:00 common misconception, anarchy means "no rulers" not; "no rules".
been playin 2b2t for awhile, this is a really well done video, what an amazing 30 minutes of my life.
Wonderful editing
It gets good at 0:00 if you want to skip
The First Anarchy is Minecraft itself. A Anarchy within the Anarchy is the 2b2t
I just stumbled on this channel, currently the first video watching on this channel. I gotta say, I'm very interested by your work. For me, the way the intros are made when you bring a topic is just nuts! Thank you for this.
Edit: Your editing style looks a lot like Disrupt's
rest in peace 2B o7
this is super amazing I love it
seeing "WAR" and "WRATH" and the font used for it reminds me a lot of ultrakill
now i kinda wanna see an apocalypse movie where respawning inexplicably becomes a thing for every complex organism on earth
The world you describe in 2b2t where death matters little reminded me of Cruelty Squad a little. It becomes a very different world as long as you take just one thing like death out of the picture.
Every anarchy server has secret rules, in 2b2t it is don't crash the server, or attempt to get banned items. Yes there are banned items. The server has many underline undercut rules aswell that prevent the player from doing things. These are still rules as they are preventatives. 2b2t is not the oldest. I remember the gmod server, and as I had a hostile relationship with facepunch back in 2009 I ended up stop making levels for gmod. I came across minecraft in its very very very earily days as I got into game development and was looking for projects where I could help out on in games with potential that I saw, I found out about the development of minecraft through the development of cube2 based games, which was full of quake players. I ended up finding out about minecraft back before the multiplayer updates in its minecraft classic days. Even back then people were trying to find ways to play with each other even without notches permission, a few found a way when notch released code that was basically almost multiplayer with a lan over wan tools that allowed people to connect to with games that the servers were gone, I can't remember the name of the one I used but I would commonly use it with friends to play old dead games, or games that the servers were gone in under a year, it was made by one of the famous remote desktop applicaitons but had massive security holes. Facepunch hated me because I was also early involved with gmod and made levels that pushed the boundraries of the game in a way that they didn't like, which was getting gmod 7, gmod 8 and gmod 9 working up with a friend of mine who did most of the work, I just patched broken mods to gmod 9 mostly and then made new game modes which pissed off facepunch because we went against garry newman and were pissed off that garry broke the free versions of gmod simply to get more sales. In fixing all these game modes it made me push even harder for making my own games, which I did for about 5 years after that and then gave up basically. Writers block basically with code. There were anarchy servers created from these tools that allowed minecraft to have lan weather notch realized it or not prior to his 0.15 classic update which that just pushed servers further. Now there is routhly 2 servers that I know of but can't bother to remember the names of still up and running, and I kinda don't want to send them more people because their anarchy is different than 2b2t which is mostly building without rules but little to no griefers due to low populations. These servers still run on these free versions of minecraft classic and require specialized tools just to play the games. 2b2t has way more rules than no rules, Housemaster has softbanned players before, and there is many ways he has punished players including removal of priority que is the most common punishment for a violation of rules he does not state. This removal of priority que is a form of soft ban as the population is massive thanks to youtube content like this.
I love the video, but I can't believe you jebaited me with the stal disk
Hi,
just wanted to let you know that the map 2b2t currently runs is not the one it launched from - there is proof that the oldest chunks generated on the server were from Feb 9, 2011, but the server existed since 2010. It's still an incredibly old map, I thought thought it was an interesting piece of trivia.
Amazing content!
Still a banger a year later.
nice vid mate! u deserve more subs
It's crazy this video only has 14k views - it's so interesting and well put together.
HOW IS THIS VIDEO NOT POPLUAR YET!!
Heard the name before but never knew just how influential 2b2t was/is.
The abundance of resources and lack of consequences almost make this feel like creation myths for a pantheon of Gods.
This video is going to get popular. It's really well made.
my guy... the editing in this video is absolutely insane!
